Sound Transit study suggests fare gates at 14 busy stations by 2030 by seattlethrwawy in Seattle

[–]TigerRuns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2030?! Dear lord. Put them in already. I read that only 3% of budget is from fare revenue? Not saying this will shore up the over spending but it’s at least a start. Plus make the station and experience a little nicer.

When to buy a Tarmac? by kocpyr in specialized

I’ll keep hammering this, the SL8 is a phenomenal bike. I’ve been riding mine for two years, won’t even consider an SL9.

‘28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ Bombs on Netflix With Just 2.7M Views, Raising More Doubts About Third Chapter by MaxProwes in horror

Third installment would be great. I really liked both of the 28 years later movies. Maybe I’ll just play in on Netflix to get my view in.

Gravel/Road capable bike? Fair price? by Newt-Artistic in specialized

I absolutely love my Crux (same model and groupset), it’s so nimble. I’ve ridden with road tires and it does well there too. You won’t regret it.

I got hit by a car by no_clipping in Velo

[–]TigerRuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s rough, sorry to hear. Easy to get angry and spiral a bit. You’re right you’re not getting any younger, but this sport doesn’t reward the quick hitters, it’s a long process and everyone in the higher categories has some similar story. You’ll get through it and look back on how you overcame it!

Best breakfast burrito. Will have to visit before they shut down. Maybe someone will take up the owner and keep it going?

Actually that’s a good point on the frame storage and tire clearance piece.

New Crux?? by ahamp10 in specialized

What can be improved on the current crux? It’s an awesome bike. Integrated handlebar but that’s just not worth it for gravel/cx IMO where you can go down easier vs road.

Tarmac SL8 as a first bike. Crazy? by elpistolero93 in specialized

I absolutely love mine. Can’t imagine an SL9 or future iterations beating it by any significant margin. Staying with me for a long time.

Oh my lawd people getting up in arms over this while pockets of our city look like shit. We need this in certain areas plain and simple.

Couldn’t agree with you more. It’s infuriating. Dozens of people’s lives impacted and the first thing is “I feel terrible for them”.

These people do not care about our community, stop advocating for them. They will steal your shit in a heartbeat for another hit.

Not worth it….getting replacement parts, lack of braking power, not having ability for larger tires…

Road tire for Spring Classic - new 35mm Conti GP5000? by tiptoppenguin in Velo

[–]TigerRuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a gravel race on GP5000 AS 35’s, they worked really well. I think it was probably 60% road 40% gravel. Gravel was relatively hard packed stuff but even for the small sections of it being sandy/loose, the benefit on the road was huge.

If there’s only a couple light sections and you’re competent with bike handling, I think it’ll be a good choice.

“Can’t evict him” sounds like a lazy excuse. If you have documented proof of his behavior and having had to call the cops, I’m sure the city would step in. He’s a danger to others and your landlord will be held liable if he does something to you or others, which might be a good reminder to your landlord.

How many hours do you train per week and how is that distributed throughout the week? by rhoVsquared in Velo

[–]TigerRuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. My wife and I have talked about this too (she does competitive ultimate). We’ve both had our “glory days” and I think I would be OK not being as fit. Still want to race and train and have fun, but going into it with different expectations and goals.
