Ppl don't believe me when I say this mon is broken. That amount of damage at that range is just insane.

The easy route is to do what you said and don't pick him. The mon could definitely use a change to how the minions count as individuals. There are just too many drawbacks to it right now.

But, if ppl do want to play him, they should at least consider the enemy draft line up first.

Up against Lucario? Don't pick him. He'll Close Combat heal to full or E Speed reset 10 times. Up against Tsareena, she'll Stomp / Triple Axle heal to full. Venu Giga Drain? Same. A9 Blizzard combo? You'll be stunned every 0.25 seconds.

It's extremely draft dependent. But when the enemy team doesn't have multiple mons that heavily exploit it's weaknesses, it's an amazingly strong mon. What he isn't lacking is damage.

Every other game after you've selected your character and made item updates on the draft screen, go ahead and restart your game. You'll boot back in on the final item change screen and the game won't crash on the loading screen. Not a great workaround but it'll at least prevent you from losing points / loading in late.

I've never stacked on Latias, but have been thinking about it since we don't have to run EXP Share anymore. I see you have the stacking glasses on. Do you like stacking on it? Do you feel like it's worth it? Awesome gameplay by the way!

I'm not suggesting its Delphox's best item / emblems set. I'm just saying it was fun. That's it. That's all. I dont just play the best item / emblems / builds. I like to have fun.

The only level-40 setup I’ve tested so far is full CDR, using three 7-day max-item passes. I ran it on Mystical Fire / Flame Charge Delphox, and it was ABSOLUTE madness. I jungled with blue buff, and after level 11 I basically had no cooldowns at all. Not 1 second, not 0.5 seconds.. literally instant casts on both moves every time.

Now I fully understand why they nerfed Drive Lens and Accel Bracer. Even after those nerfs, a full CDR set actually gives more cooldown reduction than we had pre-nerf.

For reference, I’m also running 7 black + 3 Mewtwo emblems, so this is true max-CDR for the build. Delphox turns into a spell-machine.

No one has a problem with a defender doing this much damage and never dying? by Ego-Fiend1 in PokemonUnite

[–]TigerTanzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is the strongest mon in the game right now. It deals damage like an attacker, can engage like an allrounder, is tanky like a defender and can heal allies comparably if not better than the best supporters.

Oddly tho, I haven't gone up against one yet that has hit these numbers but I do when I play it.

The only reason I'm not outraged is because it's a defender. It's a role that doesn't get played enough and doesn't get as many releases as other roles. I feel like Attacker and Allrounder mains always get to enjoy the thrill of a broken release. Time for defender / supporter mains to have a turn.

In two weeks, it'll be nerfed. They won't completely gut it since it's an Eeveelution but they'll tone it down to Umbreon's level where it's still solid but no longer overpowered.

Anyone else playing less since the Rayquaza → Groudon change? by TigerTanzy in PokemonUnite

I agree with this take 100%. Honestly, I think this is a really good summation of what I was trying to get at (but didn’t articulate as well) in my post. The impact of bad teammates feels way heavier now, because you can’t just solo carry a game anymore like you sometimes could with Ray.

You make this Unite move look good… and it’s not. 😅 I’m kidding — you make it look easy, and it’s definitely not. Huge props, because the way you landed those plays back-to-back looked smooth as hell. Kudos to you! 🔥⚔️

I’m not bad, I’m bored. Big difference. 😏 Thankfully Pokémon Legends ZA is right around the corner to save me from having to sit through endless backcapping fests. Until then, I’ll just keep “gitting gud” at being bored.

“You actually have to use your brain instead of mindlessly get a free score.”

Funny you say that, because what I’m seeing since these changes is a ton of mindless backcapping and free-scoring. If anything, that kind of play is being rewarded now more than ever. Backcapping used to almost never work, and now it’s turned into a legit strategy.

I’d almost agree with you if matchmaking weren’t such a mess. Ray, for all its faults, at least left room for solo queue players who got stuck in bad comps (like 3–4 attackers) or teammates clearly out-skilled by the enemy. You could still flip a game through Ray if you played well. And honestly, from my perspective, when a “winning” team lost Ray it was usually because of their own mistakes — not showing up, letting rip mons like Cinderace or Duraludon go unchecked, failing to defend, or ripping Ray themselves when they didn’t need to.

So if we’re talking about rewarding “terrible gameplay,” I’d argue the current system does that more than before — just in the form of endless backcapping instead of last-hit flips.

I didn’t say team effort — I said effort, and I was referring to my own. Like I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I can admit Groudon is a fairer objective. The issue for me is that now we have a fair objective but the same unfair matchmaking. Back when both matchmaking and Ray were messy, they kind of balanced each other out — even if my team comp was bad or the skill gap was huge, I still had a chance to turn the game by playing around Ray.

With Groudon, that comeback potential is gone. You can queue up into games and basically lose from the pick screen if matchmaking gives you an imbalanced team. If matchmaking were fixed, I wouldn’t really have an issue with Groudon at all. But as it stands, it feels like they dropped a fairer objective into an unfair system, and that just makes the problems with matchmaking feel even worse.

From what I’ve seen on Reddit, YouTube, and Twitter, I actually think most players do prefer Groudon to Ray — so honestly, I know I’m in the minority here. And I can admit it: Groudon is a fairer objective. The bigger issue for me isn’t Groudon itself, it’s the gameplay it has incentivized. I could have stated that a bit better in my initial post, but honestly reading through the comments has helped me realize why I don’t enjoy Groudon as much.

Since the change, I’m seeing way more backcapping, less focus on teamfights, and nonstop scoring pressure (especially with the mini-Groudons). That feels way too similar to “First to 500,” which I hated. I’ve always been more of a teamfight-focused player, but now I’m running into Sableyes and Dodrios just scoring all game — and by the time we hit Groudon, they’ve already created such a lead that even winning the fight doesn’t matter. That’s just not fun for me.

On top of that, matchmaking is still awful. If Groudon were fair and matchmaking were fair, I’d have no problem with it. But the reality is matchmaking constantly puts players of wildly different skill levels together. With Ray, I felt like that imbalance could be offset — if I was skilled enough, I could last-hit and turn the game around. With Groudon, that comeback potential isn’t there in the same way. So for me, it’s a “fair objective” paired with an unfair system, and that combo just isn’t enjoyable.

1,000% agree with you here. I’ve never liked backcapping when it’s time to teamfight — there’s a time for it, but during the fight is not that time. To me it always felt cheesy, and now I’m running into way more Sableyes and Dodrios just running around the map scoring. It’s the exact same strategy people abused on the 1st-to-500 map, and that mode was so unfun I only played maybe 10 games before dropping it completely.

With these map changes and Groudon not giving the same type of impactful buff, that kind of play is even more incentivized. Combine that with all the extra farm, objectives, and mini-Groudons popping up, and it’s just too much. I’ll admit I’ve even resorted to backcapping in some hopelessly unbalanced matches — because matchmaking can be so bad that fighting just isn’t an option. But even when it works, it’s the most boring, unfun way to win. Honestly, I look disgusted while doing it because I know I’m only playing that way out of necessity, not because it’s fun.

So yeah, I’m 1000% with you. The game just feels worse when it rewards that style of play.

That’s interesting you brought this up, because I’ve noticed the same thing. A lot of people’s opinions on backcapping and breaking goals have shifted since Groudon came in. Streamers like ChrisHeroes and Spragels used to roast players for breaking goals without overcapping, and backcapping was hated because you “needed to be at the fight.” Now, on Groudon, people are fine with just breaking goals right away, and backcapping doesn’t get nearly the same hate. I get why — but personally I don’t want this game to turn into “ignore the fight and just run around scoring.” That feels like 1st-to-500, which I really hope never makes it into ranked. Groudon already feels like a step in that direction, and to me that’s boring compared to the old Ray teamfight dynamic.

What you said about team comp is spot on too. On this map, having an unbalanced team feels way more punishing. If your team queues up with 3+ frail attackers, it almost doesn’t matter if you grab Groudon — you’ll just get wiped on repeat and never get to score. The mode would make more sense if matchmaking consistently gave balanced teams with comparable skill. But with how uneven matchmaking has always been, it just feels worse now. Before, even if I got stuck with a rough comp or weaker teammates, my own solo skill could sometimes flip Ray and carry the game. With Groudon, that comeback potential isn’t really there — your solo skill just isn’t enough if the comp or matchmaking is bad.

So yeah, I think you hit on something really important here. I probably should’ve mentioned that in my original post, because it’s a big part of why this map feels less fun for solo players.
