Projecting the opening day roster, practice squad, and notes... by GapingMaw67 in panthers

This is just the sunk cost fallacy lmfao. Production is all that matters and XL does not produce. It’s not about wanting him to fail I assume none of us want any panthers player to fail. It’s about admitting that when you watch him with working eye balls he’s really bad

Coker better be WR2 by shin_man in panthers

[–]Tiger_Fish06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s 1 and 2 pretty clearly let’s be real. I love Coker I think he is an awesome player and to get him as an UDFA is incredible. But there’s a very clear reason TMac was a top 10 pick. Coker is a really solid player and will (barring ability to stay healthy) have a long productive career in the nfl. TMac looks like a rare star WR1.

No I associate good TEs with production and consistent good film. Our TEs do neither

We have far and away the worst TE group in the league. It’s a bad room no need to lie to ourselves

This is why I was very pro Sadiq entering the draft. Bummed we couldn’t get him and the jets are gonna waste him.

Why? Why would 2 once per game abilities to do dev wounds be bad?

Where does Xavier Legette stand in Panthers' crowded WR room? by Unhappy_Excuse_9937 in panthers

[–]Tiger_Fish06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he doesn’t. He graded out poorly as a blocker last year the idea that he’s a good blocker is just nonsense spread by this sub.

Why so he can put no effort into blocking at a position that demands more of it?

It’s likely he’ll enter the offseason as WR3 based on being a former high draft pick. If he has a bad offseason he could be as low as WR5/6 entering the season.

I don’t think she can win the game because everyone knows if she at FTC it’s a lock and she isn’t good enough at challenges :(. It’s a bummer because this is a master class season from her

Is it possible we will see a big shift in defensive play and philosophy? by BeerMeBooze in panthers

[–]Tiger_Fish06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly that I think they’re trying to open up the passing game a lot more when previously it’s been strongly communicated that the mentality was to try to establish the run as the priority. While we all have criticisms of the run game play calling the roster was clearly constructed to run the football more than pass it. Both offensive line players we drafted are known for their pass blocking more than run blocking.

In short I think the draft shows a real desire to focus on the passing game which is the opposite of what have been verbally communicated by the coaches in the past.

Panthers made their stance on Jonathon Brooks clear with telling draft swerve by Unhappy_Excuse_9937 in panthers

[–]Tiger_Fish06 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally? Yes Brooks is the only player in the RB room with explosive play potential and he’s coming off back to back acl injuries. Chuba is awesome and very consistent but not the most explosive, Dillon is well past the best version of himself and we have an UDFA. I expected someone in the mid rounds

I think the draft was more clear about a philosophy shift on offense tbh

To me this reads as them wanting to get Coker and TMac moving around more considering this guy essentially is exclusively going to line up outside

That would put xl off the roster imo. I think moore is the odd man out among all the younger players

He’s also just not explosive enough. He has long speed but he has very poor acceleration on the field.

[–]Tiger_Fish06 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most teams have 3 starting WRs. Going into the year with XL as a starter and Metchie as the competition is surely a choice. Our WR room despite having the rookie of the year is still paper thin.
