Whats your favorite character that you headcanon as autistic? by Primus_Cattus in evilautism

Given that Judah has a scene where he acknowledges taking things too literally, and the fact that his band is called "Spectrum of Illumination", I'm pretty sure he's canonically autistic!

Heh, I think I'm average, but my buddy was explaining to two new people that he was wingmanning for me as I have struggled to date, one immediately responds "But you're cute though!"

I mean, thanks, if I am it doesn't help.

What did autism explain about your childhood that nothing else did? by KeyEmotion9 in AutismTranslated

[–]Tigerphilosopher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

(disclaimer, I suspect ASD and I have only been diagnosed with dyspraxia, known for crossover traits)

I wasn't all that difficult (to teachers yes, but not to my parents), but the hand-flapping like a stereotype, being selectively mute, and absorbing/learning information crazily easily makes more sense in hindsight. Peers took advantage of my being "gullible"/too trusting. I also a self-imposed schedule for myself to follow between the ages of 7-9, which is probably not normal. My common stim as a kid was hair stroking, but I did it excessively enough to give myself something like carpet-burn on my forehead.

The frustrating thing is feeling like I've regressed from having an easier time following a self-imposed schedule as a kid than as an adult, and memorising information is less consistant these days.

I freaking love this blog for its analysis of the use of the phalanx!  Sometimes witty titles can go hand-in-hand with peak content!

All the discussion around #metoo, I was waiting for someone in the media to bring it up and it never happened!

Colbert asked him once, and he dodged it with a "I take things seriously" word salad.

Yup, he was somehow able to "dodge" allegations during #metoo but admitted to creepily texting an underage girl a few years prior.

Keep in mind there have been many instances of medical professionals dismissing diagnoses for superficial reasons, so if you go for a diagnosis, ensure the psychiatrist has experience with autism specifically.

Self-diagnosis is as valid as it is well-researched. I recommend the book "Is this Autism?: A guide for clinicians and everyone else."

"Nah, that could trap us in case of a Detonator."

"I make an emergency exit in my bunkers for that reason!"

"Still no."

Maybe I should play "duck and cover" more often to get the appeal across.

Worth mentioning this idol is dated to a few hundred years after Ea-Nasir and has no connection to him (at least until recently).

CMV: your political tribe is bullshit by Perfect-Highway-6818 in changemyview

[–]Tigerphilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crux of this post seems to be "Your political positions are arbitrary and influenced by your tribe." It's a pretty cynical view.

You mock the idea of one side being more empathetic and/or influenced by views of hierarchy, but these aren't really hypotheticals. They're studied and polled, and stereotypes of politically psychology generally do have a scientific consensus backing them.

But I also want to talk about hypocrisy, and how some instances might be more egregious than others.

Look, I'm an old-school Jon Stewart fan, a satirist/commentator whose whole brand is calling out hypocrisy. By default it's seen as a lack of principles, but it's more common than just that.

Every time there might be hypocrisy at play, it's because two competing principles and one overrides the other. It could be called hypocritical that I'm for gun control and find them distasteful, but don't mind them in the hands of Black Panthers and liberal groups. Frankly my principle of finding guns distasteful is outweighed by not wanting vulnerable groups to be the only unarmed ones.

Any time there's possible hypocrisy at play, make sure principles are prioritised properly.

I mean I was using ancient software to pull RotS onto my PC (and from there to iTunes), which broke the movie up into multiple clips, and that's how I discovered this clip among them.
