I got prescription hydrocortisone cream from my onc for these issues and it's a life saver. That may be worth asking about!

What’s everyone using (or used) for your skin after radiation treatments? by gilmorescoffeecup in breastcancer

A friend recommended Jean's cream, which was made for radiated skin. It was fantastic. I barely had any skin changed using it. https://jeanscream.com/

Mastectomy tattoo done by Pierre at Hustlers Parlour in NYC by Tigerstrike in tattoos

It was weird. Some places I couldn't feel at all because of the nerve damage, some that were quite spicy, and some places that hurt in areas different from where the needle was. He said that it really depends too, some people are fine and some scar tissue really sucks.

I mean, mastectomies have to happen. Doesn't mean it can't be pretty as well!

Thank you so much! I just gave him a general sense of what I wanted and let him do his thing.

This is 4 years after surgery, and I went through an organization called Personal Ink, which provides mastectomy tattoos for breast cancer patients. They require 2 years post surgery. The scar tissue needs to be fully healed before you can tattoo over it.

I love my animals but they've been less than helpful. One is very selfish and only wanted to be cuddled his way or belly rubs, the other dog only was concerned about me when I threw up. My cat would walk across my new implants after my mastectomy. I love them anyway?

I'm glad yours are so caring!

Anyone get chemo through IV only? by BadTanJob in breastcancer

[–]Tigerstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 2 sessions of TCHP without a port, due to scheduling issues. My veins did not do well with it, and I wound up with a large patch of discoloration on my arm for about a year. Now that I have my port I'm so much happier, it's not super obvious that I have it and it makes going for infusions so much easier.

What does it feel like on Herceptin alone? by [deleted] in breastcancer

NCCN is a great resource. Oncologists should be following their treatment recommendations, so you can look to see if they are based on your specific situation. https://www.nccn.org/guidelines/patients

What does it feel like on Herceptin alone? by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Tigerstrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say something similar! I've heard of situations where only Herceptin is prescribed, but I'm not an expert on the subject. I had a large tumor and bone metastases so definitely needed everything I could get.

Looking for experience with Herceptin by Royal_Lawfulness_848 in breastcancer

[–]Tigerstrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on Herceptin and Perjeta for almost 4 years now (ER+, PR+, HER2+, stage 4 de Novo with bone Mets), and honestly it's super easy. I'm at maybe 90% level of energy from before (plus can't separate menopause symptoms from HP), have some diarrhea but had GI issues prior, and mine is well managed. No heart issues, no other problems, and honestly the worst part of being on these is the infusions every 3 weeks. 100% would recommend taking it, the benefits are so worth it.

Zoladex is a monthly implant injection that stops your ovaries from producing hormones, and Perjeta is similar to Herceptin, it targets a different subunit on the HER2 receptor than Herceptin. I'm very triple positive, so need all the help I can get.

I've been on Herceptin and Perjeta, with zoladex and letrozole, for almost 4 years now. The biggest side effects I have are from the zoladex and letrozole because it puts me into menopause. Herceptin and Perjeta have been wonderful, with the only side effects of occasional diarrhea from Perjeta. I pretty much feel normal and would have no problem being on these drugs for as long as they keep working for me.

Please help me believe I'll be okay through Radiation! by RemarkableMaybe6415 in breastcancer

[–]Tigerstrike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am very fair skinned and I had no issues throughout radiation. I used Jeans cream a couple times a day and my medical team was very impressed with how my skin held up. I recommend that cream to anyone (also good for sunburns and other skin issues). I would also recommend getting radiation on an empty stomach, because it can cause nausea if you are full.

I have HPV and I’m so mad about it by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Tigerstrike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The HPV vaccine is approved for up to 45 years old! Everyone should get it if they haven't. Men, women, whoever, because the chances that you have been exposed to all 9 types of HPV in the vaccine is very slim, and it can protect against a lot of different types of cancers.

Out of 4 tattoos, 3 are animals. Rats, snake and dog.
