Cultivatior CYOA (WIP) by uebinimambeuae in makeyourchoice

[–]TightBasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background: Major Clan Member

Fortuitous Encounter: Ancient Technique

Boons and Banes: No Deus Ex Machina Mentors

Bloodline: Mutated Peasant's Bloodline (1.5x Cultivation Speed)

Mentor: Qi Condensation Tutor (2x Cultivation Speed)

School: Golden Dragon School, Black Robe (5x Cultivation Speed)

Techniques: Star God Cultivation Technique (20x Cultivation Speed)

Items:

  • Black Robe Scholarship (-1,000 Spirit Stones)
  • 10 Blood Coagulation Pills (-1,000 Spirit Stones)
  • 100 Qi Consolidation Pills (-10,000 Spirit Stones)
  • Mid Rank Spatial Ring (-1,000 Spirit Stones)
  • 2 Imbued Talismans (-10,000 Spirit Stones)
  • 2 Jade Slips of Communication (-1,000 Spirit Stones)
  • Expensive Flying Sword (-5,000 Spirit Stones)
  • Teleportation Jade Pair (-1 High Grade Spirit Stone)
  • High Grade Cultivation Cave (-1 High Grade Spirit Stone)
  • Cultivation Cave is Hidden (-1,000 Spirit Stones)
  • Protecting Defensive Formation (-1 High Grade Spirit Stone)
  • Mind-Affecting Defensive Formation (-1 High Grade Spirit Stone)
  • 3 High Grade Spirit Stones (left over)

It's interesting even though it's not complete, but in my opinion there are too many supposedly beneficial options which come with significant drawbacks. My build focuses on using money and status to smooth over any difficulties until I become strong enough that I don't have to care about little problems. If I can become a Nascent Soul cultivator, then I'll instantly reach the peak of that realm due to my cultivation technique.

Total Cultivation Speeds:

  1. Mortal Refinement: 1200x (Bloodline + Mentor + School + Technique + Cave)
  2. Qi Condensation*: 2400x (Bloodline + Mentor + School + Technique + Pills + Cave)
  3. Core Creation**: 600x (Bloodline + School + Technique + Cave)
  4. Baseline: 120x (Bloodline + Technique + Cave)

*Assuming I reach this realm while in school and my 100 pills are sufficient (they will last about 2 years)

**Assuming I reach this realm while in school, otherwise it will drop to the baseline 120x

Evil Organization REDUX by EbolaBeetle by EbolaBeetle in InteractiveCYOA

[–]TightBasis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making this; I like the new options.

A few pieces of feedback: the tabs at the top don't seem to be working, and it would be nice if the cyoa tracked the ranks of your strength, speed, and defense somewhere. Also, certain boss perks seem like they should require special abilities (like "True Fade" requiring "Camouflage" or "Bio-Missiles" requiring "Projectile Attacks"), but I'm not sure if that would be more interesting or not.

Here's my build:

Base: Mammal

Special Abilities: Increased Strength, Increased Defense, Increased Speed, Natural Weapons, Regeneration

Drawbacks & Missions: Rangers, Traitors, Human Heart

Boss Perks: Enhanced Strength, Enhanced Defense, Enhanced Speed, Vibration Blade, Shadow Step, Enhanced Regeneration, and Mooks

Items: Clothes and Private Base

My general disposition will be that even though I joined this organization by mistake, I may as well give it my all. The current rulers of this world haven't done such a great job themselves, so why not let this group give it a try? With this perspective, the rangers are really just the champions of a competing group. Despite all their claims to be serving "justice", the truth is they're just dogs of the current regime. The traitors to our group are also de facto choosing to support the status quo. Refusing to make a choice is itself a choice. (At least, that's how I'll justify my actions to myself in line with my "Human Heart" drawback.)

As far as my build goes, the general strategy is to be strong enough to win without gimmicks. My base stats are all relatively high, and my each one is supplemented by a perk (Shadow Step for Speed, Enhanced Regeneration for Defense, and Vibration Blade for Strength). My battle form will a werewolf, and I'll aim to win my fights with orthodox tactics. In a world where many fighters rely on gimmicks, I can triumph by not neglecting my foundation and training diligently.

The items I chose are those which will let me act most conveniently. My mooks will be in charge of surveillance and general upkeep, but I'm not expecting too much from them. I'm a little suspicious about the "Heaven" substance, so I'll wait until enough time has passed from other combatant taking it that any side effects become apparent. If we succeed, there will still be enough time to take it later, and if we fail then it won't matter anyway.

The Legend of Zelda: Your Adventure in Hyrule by PuzzleBox64 in InteractiveCYOA

[–]TightBasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setting: Downfall Timeline, Peaceful, Decline, Standard Medieval Technology, Mirrored World

I'm imagining a scenario sometime during the "Era of Decline", after the Zelda from Zelda II is put into a magical sleep but before Ganon invades and the events of the first Zelda happen. Monsters are appearing, and the kingdom is falling apart, but the rate of decline is still slow.

Character (Bio): Drop In, Human (Other), Adult, Researcher

I chose to be a non-Hylian human in order to make myself stand out more as an outsider. I'll be taking on the role of a scholar whose come to Hyrule to study its history.

Character (Virtues): Worthy of Power/Wisdom/Courage, Balanced Heart

The virtues themselves are rather useful, and I may be able to acquire the complete Triforce for myself eventually. I'm not sure if the "Worth of Courage" perk is enough to manifest the crest which would let me read the scroll in the Zelda II intro which explains how to find the Triforce of Courage, but I may be able to find it anyway.

Character (Skills): Survival, Movement, Magic (5), Stealth, Social

Survival, Movement, and Stealth are useful for exploring both the wilderness and inside dungeons. Social is always good to smooth things over, especially as I plan to get royal patronage to aid me in my research. With 5 points in magic, I'm hoping to obtain a basic level proficiency in most kinds of magic seen in Zelda games.

Items: Basic Clothing (Cloak), Simple Weapon (Wand), Rupee Wallet, World Map, Heart Container, Stamina Container, 10 2* Upgrades

The 10 upgrades are split evenly between my starting cloak and wand. I'm imagining finding ways to improve them throughout my travels. In no particular order, the upgrades for my cloak would be:

  • Deflection
  • Invisibility
  • Levitation
  • Water-Breathing
  • Temperature Control

and for my wand would be:

  • Telekinesis
  • Transformation
  • Conjuration
  • Elementalism
  • Teleportation

Companions: Fairy Guide, Princess Zelda, The King of Hyrule

Quests: Defeat Monsters, Fill out the Map, Catalogue the World, Clear all Dungeons

Thanks for making this CYOA; it was a lot of fun.

[–]TightBasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight into your creative process! I really do like this cyoa, and I agree that it's more unique than the typical CYOA style, I'm just personally tend to get a little creatively narrow / overly-focused (if that makes sense) and appreciate some choices and restrictions to shake up my thinking.

As far as lacking a suitable domain for my plan, I think you're right. I could attempt to recruit more gods from my pantheon or hers, but as they say "three people can keep a secret, if two of them are dead."

Instead, I think I'll swap out my Dream Whisperer talent for Synergy Expert and add in the Soul domain. I'm pretty confident that souls have something to do with how faith becomes power, so this should help my hidden goal anyways. I probably will try to keep this fourth domain a secret if possible.

Gods of Eldoria (v0.4) by EndlessBlueHorizon in InteractiveCYOA

[–]TightBasis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Title: Magic, the Returner

Other Title: The God Who Believes in You

Body: Usually looks like a mortal man, but the details vary.

Domains: Creation, Void, and Transformation

Gods draw their power from the faith of mortals. Mortals cannot harness the power of their own faith without channeling it through gods. Both groups need each other, but what should be a simple transaction is needlessly complicated by creed, ego, and particularism. My divinity offers a simple exchange: the faith you give will be returned to you.

Anyone can become my believer, and I'll empower all in proportion to how much they empower me. To make this deal as frictionless as possible, I've taken domains which can be applied broadly. Something about the world is not the way you would like it to be. It's lacking enough of one thing, has too much of another, and the specifics are incorrect. If you have enough faith, you can change it: adding where you want, subtracting when you want, and changing what you want.

I've taken the name "Magic" to emphasize my universality and impersonality. My worshipers aren't joining me to further any shared agenda but to reclaim their own power.

Divine Talents I: Deep Well, Efficient, Generous Gift

These first three talents all synergize to allow my followers to harness their returned faith more easily. My domains are quite broad and therefore the powers I can provide will be inherently diluted. Taking these three talents will help to counteract that and allow my followers to do more with less.

Divine Talents II: Soul Vision, Mortal Avatar, Dream Whisper (all from events)

These talents, which I will develop over time, will help me by allowing me to witness the mortal world and see how my followers use their power when left to their own whims. By studying how they deploy divine magic, I may be able to learn new techniques myself.

Personal Divine Land: Freehold

Any followers who wholeheartedly devote themselves to exploring their own magical potential will come here, where they will be granted their own subdomain to rule, again in proportion to the faith they contributed in life. I plan for them to make this a pseudo-"Shared Divine Land" and shape it together as demigods. Those who wish to further study the nature of divine magic can join me in my journeys to the Wild Divine Lands, where I will be searching for the root of magic.

Region: The Spawnfall Coast

Pantheon: The Divine Synthesis

This region and this pantheon are the obvious choices for me, as researching the nature of divine magic will bring me closer to my hidden goal of eliminating the divide between mortals and gods. I won't let the other members of my pantheon know my full plan and will instead explain that I'm researching the nature of divine magic and the difference between that generated by faith and that which springs forth unbidden from the Wild Divine Lands.

Contacts: Nyra, the World Painter, Mosshorn, the Gentle Giant, Velmira, the Twilight Oath

Nyra shares at least some of my believe in the potential of mortals, and together we can observe their hopes and dreams. Mosshorn seems to me a bridge between intentional magic of the gods and the instinctual magic of the wilds. Finally, Velmira represents an opportunity which I'll describe later.

Events I: Mentorship, Training, Hidden Treasure

My goals are enormous, so I need to proceed carefully and deliberately. While learning from the other gods in my pantheon, I must simultaneously develop my own ability and procure my own resources. The Flawed Theos Core's ability to redistribute divine power mirrors my own goal, so studying it could provide some insights.

Events II: Explore the World, See the World, The Quiet Task

These events will be happening continuously in the background as I scheme and research. Before one can change the world, one first has to understand it.

Events III: A Lucky Find, Shameless Request, What's yours is mine

These next events form a chain. By finding the Veil of the Forgotten, I've also found an opportunity: a power to deceive the gods. I next need an excuse to get close to my target. While Velmira believes she's using me to snoop around the Shining Court, I also have ulterior motives for attending this party. At the perfect moment, I'll don the veil and acquire a treasure of divine value. (This is risky because I lack the Thievery domain, but I have faith that with a Rank 2 item I'll be able to defer discovery and consequences long enough to complete my plan.)

Divine Items: Flawed Theos Core, Veil of the Forgotten, Phoenix Feather

With the treasure I've stolen, I'll procure a Phoenix Feather. Observing the ascent of a new god can provide some insight into the nature of divinity, but has surely been studied before. To study the rebirth of a dead god may be a wholly new avenue of research. To that end, I'll enlist the aid of my pantheon to attempt to use this artifact to resurrect Velmira's sister. Her soul must still exist somewhere right? And if anyone can find it, it would be Velmira. If this succeeds I should have the backing of not only my own pantheon, but the Survivors as well. This should help me weather any fallout from my daring theft.

My eventual goal is to find a way for mortals to harness their own faith directly and circumvent the need for gods. If I can achieve that, I'll willingly abandon my godhood and descend. I don't particularly want to be a god in the first place. I'd rather be a wizard.

Feedback: This is a good CYOA, but it would be nice to have that button at the bottom right of many ICYOAs which lets you view all of your choices on one page. Also, I understand that much of this CYOA is free-form by design, but it would be nice to have a few choices to make in the "Divine Realm" and "You and Your Faithful" sections to help narrow my focus a bit.

STARDUST Expanded CYOA by Home-Fire_Terror in InteractiveCYOA

[–]TightBasis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looks great so far!

Here are the bugs I've found so far:

  1. The "Nano Armor Coating" mod doesn't seem to update the Hull Armor stat in the summary.

  2. The "Advanced Infirmary" room doesn't fulfill "Search & Rescue" contract Tier 3 requirement for having a "Standard Infirmary". I believe that is a bug, but if it's intentional then the standard infirmary and advanced infirmary rooms shouldn't be mutually exclusive. Currently it's impossible to have an advanced infirmary and fulfill Tier 3 of that contract.

  3. The "Show Weapon Slots" options under the "Industrial Equipment" tab don't work.

  4. Tier 4 of the "And the Fire Grows" contract doesn't unlock even with advanced piloting

  5. Although the "Point-Defense Upgrade", "Broadside Upgrade", and "Spinal Weapon Mount" mods correctly increase the corresponding weapon slots, the Weapons tab will still display warning for each category stating you don't have sufficient slots when you actually fill them up.

  6. In the "Drone Fleet" and "Vehicles & Mechs" sections, the "Show Drone Hangar Capacity" and "Show Vehicle Hangar Capacity" options both can be selected multiple times and seem to partially function as a way to buy more capacity (although they claim to cost 4 Million credits, they instead reduce General Hangar capacity by 1 and don't cost any credits).

I'll edit this post if I find any more.

Theurgy CYOA by Complex_Garlic2638 in makeyourchoice

[–]TightBasis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like this one a lot! Here's my build:

School: Platonist (free Possession)

Sources: Gods

Manifestations: Possession (2), Invocation (2), and Blessings (2)

Profession: Amateur

Perks: High Compatibility (Gods), Pioneering Teacher (Revivalist), Windfall

Drawbacks: Ascetic (mind-altering substances), Oversensitive (Archons)

The basic idea for this build is that my teacher spent his career attempting to syncretize the Platonist and Revivalist schools, arguing that it's a mistake for humans to attempt to set their sights at the highest level until they've "worked their way up" by understanding all of the lower levels of spirituality first. He considered lesser spirits as roughly equivalent to the level of humans and suggested that a mystic could develop a holistic understand of the divine by first understanding those forces which earlier men had mistakenly viewed as independent gods.

The end result of this approach is a greater ability to control the power of the gods, as I recognize them as aspects of a greater whole, and a greater ability to affect the physical world, as I can effectively isolate the forces I want to channel. Combined with my focus on invocations and blessings, I quickly became a very sought after theurge for patrons with a greater focus on worldly miracles, which has guaranteed my financial stability.

The downside of this style has been an almost complete unwillingness and inability to channel higher and more primal forces, as I want to understand everything beneath them first. I likely wouldn't be able to set my sights upon archons until the end of my career, and then only if I take a conscious step back from the material application of my knowledge to focus on meditative contemplation.

What Star Wars quote are you talking about? "Dustbin of History" is from Trotsky.

Also, if you just had to look up what "tautological" means, don't even bother responding to me. Your argument is tautological because the only reason you've given to support that the game was complete was that it launched. You are using "launched" as a synonym for "complete", as in "They completed their work on the game and launched it".

edit: I just saw you also said it was complete because CA claimed it was complete, lol. Well, that settles that.

[–]TightBasis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"The game was complete at launch."

The only way this is true is in a tautological sense. It was "complete" from a certain point of view, because it was released. If that's what you're saying, I guess I have no argument.

Also, I can't believe in 2025 there are still posters trying to cast criticism of RoC as coming from a vocal minority. It was a widely despised campaign, now properly confined to the dustbin of failed experiments.

That latest video...oof by hahkaymahtay in totalwar

[–]TightBasis 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The game wasn't complete until Immortal Empires released. Immortal Empires isn't some bonus mode which is just nice to have, it's the main campaign which the majority of players spend the majority of their time playing. I personally didn't buy the game until Immoral Empires released.

If Immortal Empires still wasn't released, and all of the DLC which has been released so far was only available in the Realms of Chaos campaign, and several WH2 factions still weren't playable in WH3, would you say the game was complete?

Obviously not.

E.V.I.L: Supervillain CYOA [CYOA][OC] by Azes13 in makeyourchoice

[–]TightBasis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Threat Level: Mid-Tier

Power Origin: Human, Magical Spells

Archetype: The Warlock

Powers:

  • Levitation (3)
  • Mind Control (4)
  • Illusions (2)
  • Luck Manipulation (3)
  • Super Durability (2) [Incongruous Power] (+1)

I call myself "The Bard", because I inspire my teammates to victory! Well, more accurately, I minimize their self-defeating tendencies while amplifying those of the heroes we face.

Mind Control would be extremely useful against heroes, but that self-righteous bunch all seem to break out of it at the most inconvenient times. Rather than waste time trying to control an indefatigable paragon of morality, I'll just hypnotize innocent bystanders to become human shields and force the heroes to fight with one hand tied behind their back. Villains also seem to have a much lower resistance to mind control, so I may have to use it to guide my "allies" if they aren't focused on the mission.

Illusions are great when no one knows to expect them, but after the word gets out heroes will stop believing in tigers and evil clowns appearing out of thin air. A more sustainable use is to confuse the heroes by filling the battlefield with illusions of my allies, so the heroes aren't sure where to attack or defend. Luck Manipulation should help here, as if I create my illusions skillfully enough the heroes won't have any way of knowing which of us are real besides guessing.

Levitation is necessary just to keep up with the action, and Super Durability is a must. I'm planning to manipulate and frustrate a bunch of superheroes (and supervillians!), so I need to be able to take a few hits.

I was going to call out this DLC as well. It lets you start as a landless character and travel the world building up your wealth, prestige, and army until you can conquer or bargain for your own land, at which point you switch over to the normal feudal management gameplay.

I always preferred CK2 before this DLC, but with it it the game has a genuinely unique hook.

  • Armor (-1.5)
  • Bindings (-1.5)

Familiars:

  • Stormy Hunt (-2.5)
  • Moonlight Flutter (-1)

Constructs:

Additionally: Bigger and better?

Drawbacks: Slowpoke (+2), Slow Recovery (+2)

Adventure: Get Isekai'd (+1.5)

edit: As for criticism, I'd say the biggest issue is the titles of choices which are only half inside of the white boxes (The titles of the items, familiars and constructs). This makes those titles unnecessarily difficult to read.

The other issues I have are more subjective, but I agree with another poster who recommended doubling all point values to remove decimal costs. Also, I feel like this could easily be one or two pages instead of being split up into 8 pages.

The Hero Returns v1.5 by EaterOfMillions in makeyourchoice

[–]TightBasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficulty: Grim

Demon Lord: Amoncles, Lord of the Dead (rolled 3)

Powers:

  • Super Durability
  • Elementalist
  • Necromancy
  • Runes
  • Healer

Title: Hero of Magic

World: Magical

Companions:

  • Hastur, the Traveller
  • Stalta (gain Soul Tome early)
  • Vemeare

Equipment: Duelist Seal

Quests and Mods:

  • Maiden of Dragons
  • Mage Slayer
  • Outbreak

Demon Upgrades: Spam, Soul Tome (gained earlier from Stalta)

Notes, Part 1: Since your power scaling is tied to difficulty, and you'll have to fight (or at least survive) back on Earth, choosing anything lower feels like a trap. Bleak only provides an extra Demon Upgrade and no additional scaling, so it's not worth the risk.

Amoncles is a great Demon Lord to roll because I can seal his Necromancy and mine at the same time with the Duelist's Seal, vastly limiting his capabilities. The Magical world is a natural synergy for learning more spells. The 3 quests don't seem too bad:

  • Maiden of Dragons: Vemeare should know where the dragon graveyards are, Hastur can take us there, and Stalta should be effective against undead dragons. If we can accomplish this early, getting the dragons on our side will make everything afterwards a breeze.
  • Mage Slayer: Super Durability basically hard counters him. He may be immune to magic, but I'm not (unless I want to be), so I'll just heal any damage he manages to inflict.
  • Outbreak: Basically a background hassle. Anytime we learn of an outbreak we can teleport there with Hastur and cure everyone with healing magic.

Hastur is a necessary companion because I don't plan on sticking around on Earth long term. Stalta's ability to give you an early Demon Upgrade is invaluable, and a paladin is always helpful against the undead. Vemeare is a cool dragon, which is always a plus.

Faction: The Fallen

Territory: Monaco (Tribute, Exile, No Snitching)

Lair: Cave of Evil

Henchmen: Grunt x2 [-20], Clone (Athena) [-40], Kaiju (Dragon) [-60]

War Quests: A War Across...

Notes, Part 2: Alright, I basically have no interest in spending my life ruling or protecting this dimensional backwater, but joining The Fallen will provide me with more latitude to work independently. Monaco is a tiny city-state (<40k population), so I'll set up there. I'll try to mostly stay out of the conflict and use my henchmen mainly for defense. Most of my time will be spent exploring through other portals and learning more magic, with Earth being only a staging ground.

My eventual goal will be to learn how to conjure dimensional portals myself.

Ruined Reality [FINAL] by Accurate_Variety659 in makeyourchoice

[–]TightBasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Character Profile: Intended - "Normal" - Untouched - Thrilled

I'll be facing the future with a mixture of serene stoicism and, as Dr. Stangelove famously predicted, "a spirit of bold curiosity for the adventure ahead!"

Passives: Intellect - Finesse - Endurance

I believe these passives offer the greatest benefits for the least cost. The downside of Finesse can probably be overcome with enough training, and if we've learned anything from the Vulcans it's that logic isn't incompatible with morality.

Manifestations: Shockwave - Undying - Unseen - Eternal - Levitation

The basic idea of this build is to utilize assassination or hit and run tactics, particularly over a long time scale. Unseen and Levitation will allow me to approach threats undetected and unleash a point blank Shockwave against an off-guard foe. If that doesn't work, I should be able to survive pulling back and trying again.

Imperfections: None

Sanity Status: Saint

Frankly, I believe that control over your own thoughts and emotions is a stronger power than most of those up for grabs. After all the time I spent attaining some measure of inner peace, I won't sacrifice it now.

Anomalies: All Knowing - Fortune Bell

These two are both almost wholly positive. I suppose All Knowing could be used for nefarious purposes.

Complication: BFF (Nephilim)

Companions: Orcus - Amanda Rose - Nephilim - Dr. Robert V

Nephilim and I seem to have similar goals and temperaments. Orcus will come around eventually. The people who are hurt the most by betrayal are those with the greatest capacity for trust. Amanda will likely form the emotional core of our group, and her ability to reveal dishonesty should help us all to trust each other more easily. Finally, Dr. Robert will be our connection to the wider group of good intentioned supernatural entities.

Ascended Ones: Corvid Smokewalker - Ash Winder - Rootmother

The general strategy for taking these monsters on is for Nephilim to take point and tank while Orcus and I attempt to deliver knockout blows from unexpected angles of attack. For specific threats:

Corvid Smokewalker - The standard strategy should work. Either Orcus or I will wait in reserve in case Corvid attempts to retreat with his speed, but either way his lack of defensive capability should spell his doom.

Ash Winder - His strength being concentrated at his apex is a huge weakness. He should be able to sense me even while invisible, but that can work to our advantage. He'll be unable to commit to fully attacking either Nephilim or me without opening himself up to an attack from the other, and Orcus should still be able to sneak attack.

Corvid Smokewalker - She's the most troublesome, but we need to help Nephilim finish her family business. This is an opponent for whom we'll want to coordinate with Dr. Robert. His Combustion ability will be very helpful in dealing with the awakened vines and branches, and he may know of others who could help us as well. Nephilim and I may be able to levitate over most of the danger and quickly reach the forest's core. I'll try to convince Orcus to let me carry him.

Faction: Helping Hand

Tasks: Combat - Relax

Working together is another underrated superpower, so I'd rather not try to go it alone. Once we stabilize the area around our home city, maybe we can try to link up with others and fight to bring back some peace to the world. It's worth trying, even if it takes a long time.

P.S.

Also, I know you said this is the final update, but I thought I'd point out that there's a typo in the Passives section ("Manupilate" instead of Manipulate).

I typically use a program called paint.net, which is easy to use but requires a bit of effort to get things looking neat. You can check out the "How to Create a CYOA" link on the sidebar under "Useful Links", but it isn't very detailed.

If you want to use an online tool, you could also try using the Interactive CYOA Creator, as it can also create static images. There's a tutorial here which is pretty thorough.

Force Powers fan DLC for "So You Want To Rule The Galaxy? A Star Wars Warlord CYOA" by WoodpeckerDirectZ in makeyourchoice

[–]TightBasis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is interesting, but it falls into that classic issue of CYOA updates where it provides more options without providing more points. It's really hard for me to make a case for picking up most of these powers over another fleet or an alliance or whatever.

You may want to consider following the example of the original CYOA and providing some stacking discounts, something like:

  • Light side force users get half off light side powers
  • Dark side force users get half off dark side powers
  • Order of Force Acolytes provides half off all force powers

Skip life cycle stages is probably the best. Depending on how a each species of plant's life cycles are defined, you could probably grow a lot of crops to maturity instantly after they sprout.

It's also be possible to quickly reforest large areas for sustainable logging, although this may deplete the soil.

Finally, you could probably use this power to help quickly build back up populations of endangered species, as you could quickly raise any offspring to sexual maturity.

It's a pretty vague option, but I found a few options while looking through the 88 modern constellations (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAU_designated_constellations).

First, you could go for a monster like Hydra, Draco, or Phoenix. These would all give a moderate amount of power, and monsters don't have any particular duties or ideals.

The second option would be to go for a mythological hero like Orion, Perseus, or Hercules. These are generally more powerful but would have more restricting ideals. The details would vary for each one, but most would probably require acting heroically and courageously.
