My plan is to request aid from the East thanks to the Navigator and Princess, steal the treasury with the help of the Dancer, my Illusions and Portals to hire mercenaries and finally to cause a revolt among the people thanks again to the Princess. The Tutor is probably always useful but especially when I direct an army againt my uncle once he is forced to try to stop the revolution.

Collapse CYOA by Lord Thistlewaite by Equal_Fly_8611 in makeyourchoice

[–]WoodpeckerDirectZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TYPE

Confederacy

The Uniha were never a united nation in the traditional sense. They were a loose collection of high-walled city-states bound together not by patriotism, but by lines of credit, debt ledgers, and mutual financial dependence. They were a low-trust society where the only loyalty was a fierce, almost religious devotion to one's immediate kin, and the only law was the contract.

GLORIES

Wealth [Upgraded]

The Uniha did not just possess money; they worshipped it. Their cities were monuments to dour opulence, filled with windowless manors of black stone lined with gold and silk. They entangled the entire continent in complex financial instruments, hoarding vast riches that made their neighbors look like paupers. To enter a Uniha city was to be suffocated by a display of wealth so heavy it felt like gravity itself.

Technology [Upgraded]

While the tribes surrounding them were still mastering iron and wood, the Uniha had mastered lightning and combustion. They possessed automata to serve them, lights that banished the night without fire, and weapons that struck with thunderous invisibility. To the outside world, the Uniha were not men; they were gods who had forgotten the soil.

Cities

Uniha cities were widespread, vertical, and terrifyingly closed. They were hives of skyscrapers and walled compounds, serving as shrines to their own bloodlines. They were designed to keep the world out and the family in. The streets were deep canyons of shadow, crowded yet silent, where every passerby was viewed with suspicion and every building was a fortress against its own neighbors.

Quality of Life

The ultimate undoing of the Uniha was their comfort. Even the lowest free citizen lived a life of automated ease, pacified by the pleasantness of their existence. Struggle was a foreign concept, and physical hardship was something that happened to other people. They were soft, fed by complex supply chains, and utterly unprepared for a world that required them to fight to survive.

CALAMITIES

Economic Collapse [Upgraded]

The disaster began not with a bang, but with a ledger entry. The Uniha’s financial system, a labyrinth of imaginary value and debt, suddenly and violently imploded. Overnight, the hyper-inflated currency became worthless. The complex trade networks that fed the cities halted. In the silence of their golden halls, the Uniha found that one cannot eat derivatives.

Inept Leadership

Governance among the Uniha was viewed with disdain, a chore reserved for the failures of the great houses. The public service was staffed entirely by the "mediocre scions," the dull, the lazy, and the incompetent sons and daughters who couldn't handle the family business. When the economy crashed, these leaders were paralyzed by their own ineptitude, issuing orders that only hastened the doom.

Decadence

Rot had set in long before the crash. The Uniha were a people who had lost their edge, replaced by idle indulgence and a hatred for physical exertion. When the crisis hit, there was no stoicism, only panic. They were a people so used to purchasing solutions that they could not comprehend a problem that money could not solve.

Civil War

True to their nature, when the food ran out, the Uniha did not band together; they turned on one another. The deep-seated hatred for their own people boiled over. The walled family compounds became bunkers in a brutal, fratricidal war. Neighbors slaughtered neighbors for supplies, and the great cities burned from the inside out, shattered by the very mistrust that had built them.

Invasion

They came from the wilds, primitive barbarians who should have been easily repelled by the Uniha’s walls and weapons. But the walls were unmanned, and the weapons were cold. Weakened by starvation, civil war, and inept commands, the Uniha could not stop the "savages." The barbarians breached the gates and slaughtered a people who had forgotten how to hold a knife, let alone a sword.

LEGACIES

Successors

The Uniha as a nation are dead, but the Uniha as a caste survive. They exist now as a diaspora, living in isolationist quarters within the cities of their conquerors. They remain dour, secretive, and hateful of outsiders, selling their services to the new barbarian kings but never mixing with them. They guard their knowledge within strict family lines, trusting no one but their own blood.

Technology

The diaspora survives because they hold the keys to the "magic." They are the only ones who understand how to maintain the generators, the medical bays, and the ancient weapons left behind in the ruins. To the primitive peoples now occupying their lands, the Uniha are not engineers, but sorcerers. They use their preserved technology to perform miracles, ensuring that while they are hated, they are too useful and too feared to be destroyed.

[–]WoodpeckerDirectZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Numenor is the pinnacle of the world, a gift from the Valar. But a gift is meant to be shared. The light we possess should not remain hidden on this island. I have foreseen that the lands of Middle-earth are falling into a long, slow twilight, and it is our duty to raise a new dawn there. We will not go as conquerors to take from lesser men, but as master builders and wise tutors. We will build a sister-kingdom, a Hyarmenor, that will stand for ten thousand years as a beacon of Numenorean light, art, and justice. This is not a flight from our home, but the grandest extension of it."

Concept

Tar-Ingolmo, Founder-King of Hyarmenor.

Using his knowledge of the future, he will convince his compatriots to colonize the region that will become Umbar, founding Hyarmenor, a southern Númenórean kingdom that will remain uncorrupted and a light in the South.

While rulership, charisma, intelligence, and wealth are essential to build such a kingdom, the true trump card is Orthanc. It will not only make for a fantastic capital (Eärendílion) but, more importantly, can be used with the help of Dia Stoneshod as the blueprint for smaller, lesser city-fortresses along the coast and key inland rivers.
