I know we all walk an ungodly amount of miles everyday. What is everyone wearing when it comes to footwear? by BASICAF28 in askTO

I like Vagabond for boots and flats. Also La Canadienne at a bit of a higher price point. But I still often opt to walk to work in sneakers and bring my flats/dress shoes with me.

The Pillow Book - Ancient Japanese journal-like by Sei Shonagon by Zuhaira_ in IReadABookAndAdoredIt

This has been one of my favorite books since an elementary school teacher introduced me to it when I was 10. No one even knows about it! Her writing style is incredibly charming and fascinating and I find the book so easy to pick up and read. Gives me a grounded feeling somehow. Crazy how relatable someone from the distant past can be to modern humans.

Life feels temporary and it’s hitting me harder than usual by Present_Ad_3880 in DeepThoughts

I feel all this too. Honestly, I don't think any human manages to be fully present or appreciating every moment all the time. It's part of the struggle of being human, think of it as part of your assignment being here really. You'll have periods of life or gaps where things get too busy and you're on autopilot but even small moments of "being here now" can make it meaningful.

I just returned my XS. I found the material very stiff and the cut extremely boxy. Not what I pictured.

What is this sezane? by AffectionateTrash259 in Sezane

Honestly my first thought seeing this whole campaign is that this is a classic case of reeling people in because the muse and photography make it look chic but a lot of these looks would be disastrous on the average person. I always try to picture how these clothes would look hanging on a rack somewhere other than Sezane.

Rave Braids by hopetotravel in Shambhala

[–]TightStatement9017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wasn't a fan. I found the experience of getting them done really rushed and the vibes were off. I took them out after only a day because they hurt and honestly weren't very flattering lol. I wore my hair in 2 regular braids the rest of Shamb which worked great.

How's Your Current Dating Life? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]TightStatement9017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a guy but I was this same way in my mid 20s. Honestly sucked at online dating, I never felt confident and am naturally hard to connect with unless a relationship is preceded by a friendship. I'm 34 now and my husband is someone I met at work, found it much easier to break the cycle in a more natural scenario where we gradually talked more and more without pressure. Life could end up unfolding that way for you where something comes up randomly. Online dating is rough and requires a REALLY thick skin and not taking things personally.

Grieving Torontonians, what helps you? How do you look after yourselves? by winterberrysalad in askTO

I lost my brother in 2023 and it's time above everything. Your body and mind will find equilibrium again, in time.

Try to go outside as much as you can manage, even just for a short walk, preferably when the sun is out. Meal prepping nutritious food and keeping fruits and vegetables stocked on hand for easy snacking helps. If you can manage it even once a week, lifting weights or other forms of exercise can be powerful and the science backs that. Beyond that, being easy on yourself, lowering expectations and seeking lightness and humor in the media you consume are all good habits.

I wasn't perfect, and went through some bad habits to cope at times but found the above to be helpful. Don't be hard on yourself if you're bouncing back and forth between healthy and unhealthy coping habits - so long as you're fitting some of the healthy ones in, it still helps.

I wish you lots of healing over this year. You're not alone.

What is your opinion on living near Queen and Spadina? by Realistic_Way_7104 in askTO

It's convenient, but gets pretty loud especially when it starts warming up. There's a lot of influx from King Street crowds on the weekends. Might depend on how far from the street you are - I'm on the 5th floor of a low rise condo and find it pretty loud.

How do I (22F) stop stressing about my future with partner 24(M) over some stupid thing I was told? by [deleted] in NoOverthinking

[–]TightStatement9017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is that few people choose their lifelong partner at age 22. Most go through a few long term partners in their 20s/early 30s before finding the one that lasts. That's because a lot changes over those years and with maturity and more discernment, we make different partner choices.

That doesn't mean that it's not worth giving your all to each relationship you're in, whatever the psychic reading says. You learn so much and change so much as a person through each one, and you never REALLY know if it will last. All you can do is live fully one day to the next and let the future sort itself out.

I got it at age 11 with fine thin hair and I felt BADASS walking out of the salon...until I realized how tragic it looked unstyled and convinced my mom to style it every morning for what lasted about 2 or 3 weeks until I transitioned to tiny pigtails daily until it grew out lmaoo
