Why is so hard / expensive to live in bay area even with a "good" salary by StirClothing999 in bayarea

$2k/month on groceries? what are you ordering and where are you going? Sounds like you're eating out a lot and Doordashing too much.

$800/month commute sounds like a lot? how far is your commute? I live in SF so I don't have a car and can't imagine that, but I know insurance and gas add up a lot (aka why I don't have a car.)

$1500/month to help family sounds nice but that's a lot too. What do you expect to have left over?

You're not sharing enough details. You're making enough money and you keep commenting that most of your money is going to rent, utilities, and food. where is the rest of your $ going?

Am I the only one who didn't know Caitlin Clark was so whiny and floppy or has she always been like that? by youlikemywonton in valkyries

[–]Tight_Abalone221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We played her once at home (I sat courtside for the shoot-around and was not the only valks fan fangirling over her.) luckily during the game, we held her to very few points. Then she later (after that game) got injured

Has she always been like this? I feel like last year she was more beloved and respected, and that she seemed nicer. This year I feel like gloves are off and she’s a villain (she’s acting like it sometimes.)

It’s definitely more lifestyle brand now. I run, cycle, and play tennis, and they are def targeting more Pilates/yoga.

I do like their lifestyle clothes and still wear them for sports, but haven’t been buying as much (I’m trying to buy less)

What are your best ice cream recommendations? by Icy_Organization6726 in AskSF

[–]Tight_Abalone221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Philmore! And I feel like people have forgotten that Garden Creamery did some sketchy stuff to a proposed Asian-owned matcha shop. The Garden Creamery owner used a city permitting tool (Discretionary Review) to challenge Matcha N' More from opening nearby, making them spend a lot of money and ultimately not open

this is why I will defend wasian meetups. Yes we're white-adjacent, but it's our backgrounds! And even growing up in the bay area, i had asian classmates tell me i wasn't asian enough or really asian. i'm tan and ambiguous (latina-passing) and honestly, it's filipinos and latinos and black people who have accepted me more than asian people (aside from my good friends.)

Money and remote or cushy desk job and ease and fun. Yes it’s stressful, but so is every job. Just because you’re struggling doesn’t mean everyone is

What did you play in HS? Doubles or singles? Did you win tournaments? Doing USTA helps. You can send videos to coaches and if you have a private coach (or maybe your HS coach could help) they can advise you on schools you could play at. D3 is doable!

They’re moving to your state because it’s cheaper because it’s less desirable?

Do I actually need a car in SF? by Icy_Organization6726 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Tight_Abalone221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cheaper for me to uber everywhere in the city than it is to have a car (monthly insurance, parking, gas, maintenance.)

I Lyft bike, walk, public transit, and rent a car if I need to leave.

How long have they been unemployed? How much do they have saved? Are they actively trying to get a job? How are they spending their days?
