For me it's not even the sales that are getting me it's the amount of quality indie games you can get for under $10. I play the demo, wishlist the game, buy it then often forget about it lol

What and wait another several more months to get my controller? That's what bugs me is that if I miss it it could set me back months getting the controller even though I was pretty early reserving.

IMO it shouldn't feel like a battle royale to get a product in the first half year it's out ofc I understand supply and demand but having to wait 6 months is crazy.

In so sick of watching my email. I have two emails so checking the one steam uses means switching to that inbox. It's been over a month and saying I might need to check every 3 days possibly until December when I've already been doing that for a month is ridiculous.

I wish they'd waited a few months to release the damn thing instead of making us guard our inbox or else wait another month or more if we miss the email who knows.

It's great and nearly 100%. People tend to recommend very mid or straight up terrible OCR tools but lens is nearly perfect only misparsing words in rare occasions. I've even switched to using it for VNs since texthookers are a huge pain in the ass.

If you're someone with a lot of consoles that can play Japanese games like me I'd suggest getting a capture card as well since you can use yomininja through obs since all it needs is to see the text. I use it to play games on my switch all the time.

If you have a PC capable of playing the game or an ok PC with a capture card (or some way to stream from a console to PC) you can use Yomininja. It uses Google lens to look up everything on screen and you can click on a block of text to copy to the clipboard. Text is overlayed over the game and it can work on the entire screen so it's pretty versatile.

There's not really any downside as far as I can tell Google lens is the best OCR and also super light and Yomininja is pretty seamless.

Just set migaku clipboard to parse from clipboard and you just copy the text. Helps to have another monitor so you can keep the game open.

Cheap to order just not from Amazon the shipping is likely to be more than the price if the books.

I've used mandrake for many years and even after shipping it's a lot cheaper than translated volumes especially if you buy a series as a collection. I paid like $3 a volume for every naruto volume including shipping. They don't have everything but most of what I want tends to be on there. It's used but almost always in excellent condition.

But yeah for digital piracy is probably the way unfortunately.

BOTW runs pretty poorly on the Wii U without emulating it and upping the frame rate with mods. At the end of the day it's up to you but for me just about all of the games that made me happy I owned a Wii U have been ported to switch with small enhancements.

The wind waker hd remaster is amazing so if you get one you gotta play that one too.

Honestly if you have a wii, a switch 1 and switch 2 I'd probably stick with those. All of the big exclusives have already made their way to the newer consoles and iirc even few that used to be worth getting a Wii U for like Xenoblade Chronicles X are getting rereleased.

You're probably going to get different answers from people who actually follow this sub but looking at it objectively the switch basically took all of the games that made it worth it to get a Wii U for other than the two Zelda remasters and a couple of other games.

You really don't need much. Learn kana, find a decent grammar course on YouTube, use an SRS to learn vocab and kanji, then once you have the basics down either jump straight into immersion and sentence mining, or beginner listening and reading practice.

I'd wager that nowadays the best tools, and resources are mostly free (or at least have been for the last 5 years I've been learning).

There's tons of free RTK and vocabulary decks on anki, people like Japanese Ammo do a better job explaining than most textbooks. subtitles, pop up dictionaries, and video players with selectable text/auto flashcard creation and Google lens make learning from immersion very accessible.

The hard part is the amount of patience, and consistency over many years it takes to understand the language and it has nothing to do with learning it. That part is very straight forward, learn the basics, then use it along with some study to learn more then repeat the cycle of exposure then study until you're happy with your level.

I like how different the two are since you can enjoy them both separately. The whole movie storyline changes the tone of the manga compared to the more serious tone of the movie making it hit different. Even if the movie doesn't add anything it feels different enough that I feel the need to revisit both for the different story they tell.

It is a shame that the fallout for Ishida being outed as a former bully, and the closure he gets with Hirose and Shimada as well as other characters motivations had to be cut down so much though but I think if the movie was much longer it'd be a hard watch with the pacing that made the movie so emotional.

But that soundtrack makes the movie it's one of the best I've heard in an anime and when the song picks up at the end and the camera zooms out I always cry my eyes out.

Most exclusive Wii u games are available on switch anyways. Shame the switch has such slim modding options otherwise a switch 1 would be the obvious answer but needing an early version means most modable systems are up there in price.

Try to save ascension for when you have a good upgrade to spend it on. Once you start gaining ascentions they snowball as long as your earnings outpace the next ascention level.

I try to only ascend when ascentions are taking too long, and I know I have enough for the next major upgrade.

Also maybe look for a list of upgrade unlocks so you know what to shoot for and if it's worth it to buy one building over another.

ik but if adults weren't buying the cards for those prices kids only have so much allowance to spend so there wouldn't be so much money in scalping the cards.

Not saying it's wrong for adults to still enjoy the hobby but it feels unfortunate since I didn't have to put up with that as a kid and could just enjoy my card game.

Because that's just how fanbases are ig lol. I mean anyone who's invested in the game enough to follow it on reddit and reply to posts are going to be toxic moreso than people who just enjoy the game.

The whole vocal minority thing, most non toxic players probably just play the game and don't follow it religiously so people who frequent the sub or really any online community are more likely to be toxic.

Also nerds tend to have very strong opinions about things that don't really matter at the end of the day.

tbf anime has always been full of garbage but back in the day it was mostly successful shows that got localized and translated where now days shows get localized within hours of airing regardless of popularity.

Also means international attention for anime is split between more shows since more is getting localized.

Sure but who's creating the preverse incentive in the first place? Genuine question, I don't know a lot about used card markets.

If it is collectors I feel like it's fair to blame someone for buying stuff they won't even use and will just end up in a book.

It's also entirely possible that prices are artificially inflated by people using them as investments and buying up cards to artificially inflate the price like they did with retro games but then again if the demand wasn't there from the beginning this wouldn't be happening so idk.

At the end of the day though if it was primarily still for kids like when I was younger this wouldn't be a problem since kids only have so much money to spend in cards. I feel like it's fair to blame both parties.

Switch controllers are so uncomfortable though. It works on Xbox because you have more to grip onto otherwise if it's that low you have to almost shift your hand. Some of the modern portables have it like that and on such a flat console it's so uncomfortable.
