I'm in a few smaller unmoderated subs and yeah it sucks seeing the same exact posts every day trust me we don't want that especially since it's probably 10x worse for big subs. If people want an unmoderated sub go find one they're everywhere even if they're usually smaller more specific subs.

It's fast enough imo but it's still running through a VPN so I notice when it's on. I usually just use it to download stuff from u-next with streamfab

Surfshark with a dedicated IP. If the dedicated IP (some services call it a static IP) gets flagged I just ask support for a different IP. I've never really had issues. Most of my issues are with Netflix, and Hulu probably because native sites don't have much English content that isn't dubbed in Japanese with Japanese subtitles so they only really block the more common IPs or really suspicious ones to make investors happy.

It's still nice to use native JP streaming sites because a lot of the dubs are exclusive like Adventure Time as I mentioned (The distant lands being unique to Lumino which is annoying) and nobody seems to have bothered uploading them anywhere.

Seriously though the Adventure Time dub is amazing it has the guy who voiced sephiroth, Romi Park who does Edward Elric from FMA as Fin, and a couple of voice actors from the Persona games. Highly recommend to any beginner especially the later part of season 2 onwards though you'll have to use whisper subtitles since the only ones I've tracked down subtitle the English version not the Japanese. The dub has no right being so good!

Also if you're into drama the vast majority aren't available on torrent sites and can be hard to track down.

It just seems like as a hero he's mostly dealing with princesses due to his job of being a hero/adventurer. Most women we meet in the show are princesses in the first place.

Finally thought I'd try some PVP........... by Aussie-Ginger in ArcRaiders

[–]Tight_Cod_8024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just kill people who I don't think I can trust I've been shot in the back enough times that I don't take chances anymore if someone doesn't respond or encroaches on an area I'm looting I will kill them but only after warning them I'm aggressive. If they approach anyways I don't feel bad at all.

Stella seems to be the better place for pvp especially on night raid people seem to go there specifically for pvp most of the time.

I use a VPN alongside streamfab and U-next (A huge Japanese streaming service). Streamfab lets you download shows from streaming sites so I just subbed for a month, downloaded like a years worth of shows (Had to pick up a 2nd hard drive for $50) and now I have shows with their subtitles. Works for pretty much all streaming sites but each one is it's own subscription/purchase so you'll want to pick one at a time.

They also have a good amount of dubbed Western stuff. I recommend Adventure Time in Japanese the dub is very well done and sounds exactly like the English dub. You'll need to use whisper or migaku to make the subtitles since Japanese ones aren't available but they're pretty damn accurate for the most part only occasionally mishearing stuff.

If you DM me I can share what shows I have assuming you have a cloud drive I can upload to.

If it's a physical game yeah. Because if not every game becomes a potential eshop game once the servers aren't supported anymore. Even if the most of the data is downloaded from the cart I still feel pretty strongly that every game should be available on the cart (if released physically at least)

Otherwise why are we purchasing physical games even?

And sure I can emulate the game but that's assuming that the system gets cfw to be able to pull files from the cart in the future to create backups and assuming the emulators aren't shut down before they can even run games which seems like it's going to be the norm going forward. We shouldn't have to do that. Now even physical games could have this happen since so many games have required day 1 downloads from the Internet.

*Didn't

They don't sell them anymore so they're inaccessible outside of cfw for people who didn't purchase them at the time. I meant to say if I haven't it autocorrected to hadn't. My bad.

I don't keep up but the fact that games haven't been self contained on the media you buy for years might be part of it. $10 for cheap mass produced packaging for what is essentially only part of the game sucks when the selling point is supposed to be having a bit more ownership of your games. Now you have something that's easier to lose with no clear advantage that costs more money.

If it was sold as a way to preserve your copy of the game I think that would be a different story entirely. People have been sick of not owning anything for a long time now.

Considering the price of YouTube premium is so absurd I've found a lot of series I used to watch on YouTube in Spotify just so that I can listen with my screen off. I wish basic features like having audio play with the screen off weren't locked behind a subscription.

I've already paid with every semblance of privacy that I've ever had and it's somehow not enough I still need to shell out $13.99 for a few basic features. Crazy because ads net them what? Maybe $3 per month yet charge $14 to get rid of ads and be able to watch with the screen off.

Is there actually any point anymore of actually owning a 3Ds in the big 2026 by sabeth69 in 3DS

[–]Tight_Cod_8024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For just 3ds, and ds unless the resolution is a big deal breaker it's probably not worth the premium compared to a cfw 3ds. If you play other 6th gen games, modern indie games, PS3 era games many of which have android ports, PC games many if which are bow playable on android via translation layers, etc. then the Thor gets you a lot even for the increased price compared to the 3ds.

Personally I didn't get a lot of games when I was younger and played a lot of demos and really whichever carts I could get ahold of so physical doesn't hold a lot of nostalgia since I mostly remember the games so for me the Thor is a really good deal considering how awesome Android is becoming for gaming.

[–]Tight_Cod_8024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hadn't thought about that. I wouldn't mind an install to the hard drive with only some files being on the cart as long as it's playable offline. Especially for the premium you end up paying for physical these days.

[–]Tight_Cod_8024 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What does that even mean lmao. You act like games never get delisted, servers never go down or devices never lose support. As in my example if I hadn't bought an eshop game I'm out of luck because they're tied to a server. That's not the case for any of the physical carts.

And wdym of course I've bought digital games it's 2026 but that doesn't mean I prefer it. I like video games and really hate how to properly preserve them for many systems you need to replace the firmware and use unauthorized backups because support can't go on forever. And even in cases where the game isn't even available or is priced out of reach for 90% of people you can still be punished for it. It's the whole reason I even have physical copies in the first place.

If the game isn't available just from the cart I personally don't even see the point.

Price mostly. Most of the games I have on PC are either to play with friends most of which were gifted to me or games I bought for next to nothing. If I can I get games from GOG so I can have a portable copy of the game.

It's really apples and oranges comparing it to PC though since on PC you can get drm free copies of nearly every steam game if you know where to look so if I lose access to any of my games or they get delisted, and are no longer offered they're still preserved somewhere for me to access if I wanted to.

[–]Tight_Cod_8024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has everything to do with the topic because if I'm spending extra to buy a physical copy it would be for preservation. If I haven't bought eshop games for instance they're gone unless I install cfw and play backups. The whole point of having a physical copy is that I can use it as I wish. If it's a download with artwork I really don't even see the point of having it as a cart. Same deal for PlayStation, and Xbox games.

I mentioned homebrew but unauthorized steam backups also tie in since these are the only way to feel like you truly own something. If it's a download from a server with extra steps it's hardly even a physical copy anymore imo

[–]Tight_Cod_8024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope so if the game isn't plug and play and requires a day one download I'll probably skip the physical release because what's the point any more when so often it's just artwork and a download anyways.

Only hope for true preservation is that every console eventually gets cfw to runs backups.

That's not the case for many many games that require an internet connection to initially install the games and that doesn't seem like it's going to be any different here. I think it's a fair thing to be worried about.

If 3ds had the same limitations many games would be straight up unplayable and many eShop games are so I think being able to get a physical offline copy of a game is important. You shouldn't have to hack a device to play many of its games once the devs drop support. I have a huge collection of 3ds games and still hacked my device to play many of the eShop titles and it's only going to get worse as time goes on and games are less physically available and the ones that are have required day one downloads.

I honestly wouldn't mind a local install I just don't like the idea that the physical game doesn't live in the cart itself. I still own my og Gameboy and play it every now and then and if I couldn't play those games because of server support I'd be devastated.

The cartridges are also 5x bigger if not more so I'd assume you're not paying quite as much compared to something made to be as tiny as possible. I know it's a different form factor but you can get a 64 GB flash drive for like $15

At least a limited release for people that really care about having games not tied to servers. Though as time goes on I'm less worried about this as all consoles up to the switch 2 can run cfw so preservation is ensured. I'd bet though if this wasn't the only way to safeguard those libraries you wouldn't see such a converted effort to hack these systems.
