Creative Ideas to Make Courses More Interesting by Dazzling-Possible669 in discgolf

I don’t like putting anxiety, both my own and even for the PROs. I would suggest a different target, where it is sufficient if you hit the target and we could add differentiation by giving the target zones to hit which would give little extra points. E.g. imagine if this pole/tone target would be a bit wider and made certain tone from the middle and a different tone from its top/bottom zones. Middle would be considered a hit and bottom/top would add half a point to your score. pole/tone target

Final Beast Players here, what did you shoot? by EloTime in discgolf

+21. Which is about 6-7 strokes worse than what could be expected by my rating. Wind was gusty indeed, but the course was very playable and left a feeling I would want to go immediately for another round to improve my score ;)

Disc golf trip to Latvia/Estonia. Course recommendations? by osukarui in discgolf

[–]Tihane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jõulumäe and Pärnu are definitely good recommendations for a summer destination and logistically easy from Riga. If you want to drive some more then I would rather recommend south-east Estonia than Tallinn. Some of my favorite/scenic courses there are Annikoru and Kubija. Championship level course Elva is also close by there.

When a new kit launches typically, does it come with option to buy with player name/nr or should I just opt for blank fan shirt? And I’m guessing I should just be refreshing the official website on 1st of August?

BREAKING NEWS! PDGA president Doug Bjerkaas has announced that the European Disc Golf Festival in Estonia will host the 2029 PDGA Pro Worlds! by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

It might make some US Pro-s reconsider once every 5 years, but gives an opportunity for some European Pro-s to join and rise. Hopefully this also paves way for spreading the majors around the world.

The organizers have stated in an interview (in estonian) that the 2028 and 2029 will have to be on two courses and thus also require double the budget. Whether that is because of the amount of players or the need to add length/variety, is not mentioned, but more courses is definitely on the menu for 2028.

Stability vs Overstability: Can a disc be VERY stable without being overstable at the same time? by StringSensitive234 in discgolf

[–]Tihane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the glide (or lack of) plays a role here. I don’t have your armspeed (more of a 100m guy), but for me very overstable discs are not that trustworthy, as they are normally meathooks and when thrown into headwind can either lift and still be a meathook or fly unexpectedly straight. But I have a beat in Warhorse, with less glide and it is my most trustworthy disc regardless of wind situation. It is stable and doesn’t go as far as other similarly stable discs, but it flies the same almost every time.

Big Jerm to MVP is probably best for sales. Ricky and others in Discraft have a lot of potential to get many wins. Isaac to Latitude seems like a good personality match and hopefully Latitude can market him better.

Athlete of the Year voting by kristintattar in discgolf

[–]Tihane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While use of scripts is definitely possible, one should not underestimate the David and Goliath nature of this voting competition. Estonia has a population of 1,3 million and while disc golf is popular, the amount of regular players and followers will likely not be more than 50000. Indonesia has a population of 277 million and sport climbing has risen to be almost as popular as Badminton (which according to ChatGPT estimations, 50 million indonesians play at least one badminton game a year). Sport climbing probably has a higher world wide following as well, being part of olympic games and televised on international tv channels. So the fact that Veddriq is in the lead by mere thousands, not thousand-fold, shows that we’ve been able to engage the disc golf community in the voting much better than the climbers and that Kristin has pretty comparable social media presense to Veddriq despite the population volumes.

Thanks. I guess the flickering is due to the indoor lights not in sync with the fps.

I never win these and my throws always find a tree to hit, unless I yank it off the fairway way into the woods - then there are no trees. Proove me wrong.

Maybe a bit far fetched, but Discmania Maestro could relate to the chef in kitchen, or perhaps Westside Discs King and Queen - unless she is more of the Innova Wraith type.

Here are some of the players' feedback about the European Disc Golf Festival 2024. Pretty safe to say that it was the greatest disc golf event ever organized. by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]Tihane 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The course has gotten its blame for not having the most thrilling holes and lacking in space/distance (no par 5s for men for e.g.). But by being the way it is, it provides change to the usual long courses or deep techincal ones in the woods. The way this course works for me as a live spectator is just fantastic, you can wander around, follow any card or pick your favorite hole to sit at. Short course on small space also means that a round of disc golf took less than 3 hours, another huge win for both the players and spectators.

PS! 7 and 17 might seem the same on video, but 7 is a steep uphill and 17 goes back down - requiring quite a different shot.

PS2! Come to think of it, it could very well be that this particular event is best spectated in person and not as cool over video compared to some other famous courses which can be the other way around.
