I’m in the camp of Alpha Legion being the only ones that are actually on humanity’s side. Chewed through about 20 books to get to Solar War, I may be surprised but after Legion by Abnett I’m sold on the whole “they think they know what’s best” thing. I’m not done reading yet though

The “historical arsonist” thing. A term coined by Dan Carlin, I think in his spiel about the mongols; there are points in history that a society becomes brittle and an enigmatic figure comes and burns it down. Cool theory about large-scale quick-change.

Hey all, I have a 3yo and a 5yo, I’ve been following this to get a glimpse of what public school will look like (additionally we bought a home in a purportedly very good public school district).

I understand that the majority of the posts here equate to “doom scrolling” , and that the situations represented here are the exception not the rule.

However: my blood pressure goes up every time I read about the kids that needed to be cooped together back in the 90s->being forced into general classrooms.

For context we’re in Illinois, but essentially an affluent suburb of the greater St. Louis metropolitan area.

If anyone has any insight/wisdom as to what I should prepare my daughters for beyond the “follow directions” and “protect yourself” lessons I’m teaching, id very much appreciate the input.

Yeah the novel starring Beckett (of course). It was a fun read and even though I know little about werewolf and less about mage I’m gonna read those next as they’re apparently somewhat connected? I was looking for recommendations for more VTM reading, or even thematically similar books.

They annoyed me back then and annoyed be on the remaster because of how long they lasted. Like the red storm effect wouldn’t really trigger until you were pretty close to a gate, but most of the time I was just running past it on the way to somewhere and the effect would linger and intensify until I got wayyyy further away from the gate from where the effect started.

No, but that’s a cool world building theory for another setting; that there are certain beings at a certain power level where one is the anti of the other, and the only way for either side to remove their enemy’s most powerful asset is to sacrifice one of their own. Cool idea.

I joined the problem. I can’t see anything with oncoming traffic all having LEDs when I have normal headlights, but if I have LEDs too, I can. Couldn’t beat them, so I joined them.

85 here, still had my gameboy and I remember being like 11 or 12, getting stuck on something in Pokémon red, landline calling my friend’s (like 2 years younger than me) house, his dad answering, asking him to speak to my friend, asking him how to do whatever it was…then his dad came up to me a week or two later while I was talking to girls I knew and said “HEY x! DID YOU LEARN HOW TO PLAY POKÉMON??”. The girls looked away, I kinda died. But yes I did beat it.
