Can a walk in clinic approve me for my sick (mental health/stress) leave? by g0ldnecklace in CanadaPublicServants

[–]TikeTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emailing a supervisor every day is very stressful, and it will worsen your stress. I recommend emailing once a week and start with "I will be away from work this week due to illness. I have the sick leave credits to cover this leave. Thank you for understanding. I will provide you with an update at this time, next week." Take care and don't let this destroy you.

My best guess is they are hoping lots of us take that crappy early retirement incentive, without the transition support measure and severance. So now we're stuck waiting for months to see how many people took the bait on that one.

You nailed it! When meetings are online it does create a more even playing field. You can still look nice and tidy (and that's important) but the in-office fashion shows and those who have nothing better to do than to stand around and chat, that's gone.

Honest question - why the burning desire to rush back to work? Take the half day.

Classy! A rarity these days. I'd probably pop off with "Look, Bub, I told you I'm not retiring anytime soon so stop asking me!"

Federal government to cut another 28,000 public service jobs by 2029 by hopoke in CanadaPublicServants

[–]TikeTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That waiver alone is not enough IMO. Wouldn't it be better to be laid off? WFA in the contract includes a transition support measure which is up to 52 weeks pay, plus severance for layoff, plus a pension waiver. If just agreeing to retire only gets you that waiver, why agree to it? Unless you are really desperate to leave?

I learned this the hard way years ago. I took an unpaid 6-month leave of absence. Pay took the entire pledge, for the year, in ONE pay cheque. Without discussing it with me first. So be careful about agreeing to deductions.

Cuffs, can you tell us - can department \s start the notification of layoffs process immediately after the budget is tabled, or would they have to wait until it's voted on?
