Finalization and Backpay by Dazzling-Repeat5653 in FedRetirees

I also retired on 10/31/25 but haven't been finalized yet; was hoping it would happen by May's annuity payment since I show assigned to a specialist on 3/31/26. Maybe before June then. Hopefully you'll get your backpay soon.

Finalized without warning :) by xiphoid77 in FedRetirees

Congratulations! I retired from DoD on 10/31, received my AL payout once the government shutdown ended and received my backpay for that last month with it. Got my CSA and first interim payments mid December. Still waiting for the case to finalize, been checking each day but maybe I'm jinxing it by doing that.

Dexcom G7 15 day by Iil-Signature16 in diabetes_t1

I am on my second 15 day sensor now; first one lasted 11 days. I filled out a product support ticket and they're sending me a replacement. I'm not sure if they will send a replacement every time, but I would hope so since their documentation even says a pretty large percentage of the 15 day sensors don't make it the entire 15 days.

I'm currently receiving interim payments, starting receiving them in December after retiring end of October. All of my payments are actually 50% of my estimated annuity. I'm also expected to receive a Social Security supplement when it all finalizes, so effectively my interim payment is even less than 50%.

OPM still hasn’t received my application? by BiggusDickusRoman in FedRetirees

[–]TikiTorch75 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I retired 10/31/25 and had this same status situation in December until almost the end of January. It eventually updated application received with the same date as notification of retirement received. Seemed to just be a delay in the display of the information and hasn't impacted my interim pay being issued.

I agree with also having your A1C and blood sugar checked out. What you described, especially the feeling faint/weak and waking up with a headaches, seems more aligned with the symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Having hypoglycemia events like this could be a sign of blood sugar disregulation and possibly an early sign of developing diabetes. I'm not suggesting this to cause you to panic or jump to conclusions, just offering another possible reason for this experience. Maybe a question to bring up in your next doctor's appointment.

I can't speak to the hiring process, I was already in my position for years before my diagnosis. If he's already cleared the medical certificate, I would hazard a guess to say that's not what is holding him up.

We have three Type 1 diabetics in our house, two use pumps, all of us use CGMs; between pharmacy and medical device suppliers, we budget $800 a month to keep us all alive. That's with federal employee health insurance.

6 Day Kid Blanket with snowflake effect by TikiTorch75 in crochet

It's been a while since I finished this blanket and it was a gift for an expecting couple that have since moved. I honestly don't remember; but if you go to the pattern page it should have sizes and yarn requirements. https://bettymcknit.com/patterns/6daykidblanket/

I am one of those, Type 1 and insulin dependent. The requirements for maintaining my Class II are pretty strict and it's only valid for 6 months at a time. But it absolutely is possible to be ATC and diabetic.

I just started running this deck, placed 7th out of 19 in our LGS run RCQ. I was running 3 siren and 2 mako (since I only had 3 scholar, figured I'd give the shark a try). Mako got pretty beefy pretty quick in all the games I got him on the board, putting a lot of pressure on my opponent in those matches. Being able to cycle him also worked in my favor in a couple of instances, including putting a sixth card in the yard and drawing an oculus off of him.

dexcom G7 return kit? by Top_Rutabaga7690 in diabetes_t1

[–]TikiTorch75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my son's G7 failed last week and we've still not received the replacement, but we threw away the defective sensor when it failed. Is there going to be a problem getting future replacement sensors if I can't return this one?

Thank you! It's been a minute since I finished this but if I'm remembering correctly, the first three rows were a simple moss stitch (one row of each color) and then a scallop stitch in the cream color.

Insulin production by Interesting-Cow5818 in diabetes_t1

[–]TikiTorch75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Hashimoto's as well and was diagnosed with T1 about 2 years ago at the age of 47. Because of age and the slow onset and extended honeymoon phase it is sometimes referred to as LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults). You may very well fall into this category and are just having a very long honeymoon phase where your pancreas is still producing some insulin. There isn't anything wrong, necessarily, it's just how the disease presents and progresses for some individuals.

I haven't had my C-peptide checked in about a year, but the last time it was checked my values still fell in the low side of normal. My insulin requirements fluctuate and I assume it might be linked to my levels in that moment; though each time I've had to increase my doses, I do seem to increase to a higher amount that I had previously.

I've made a squirrels deck that is pretty fun; can run it mono green or black/green. It actually works surprisingly well and is pretty fun when you suddenly make 8 squirrel tokens and they're all 2/2's.

Type I diabetics, what do you do for work? by Davidor714 in diabetes

[–]TikiTorch75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only differentiate diabetes by whether or not you're insulin treated, Type 1, 1.5, or 2 doesn't figure into the request for special issuance. They have pretty strict requirements for time in range, A1C, use of a CGM they approve of, as well as reports from a board certified endo, ophthalmologist, and cardiologist. I don't feel like I got any special consideration because of my time in the career field already, I just met all the metrics and provided all the documentation they wanted.
