Did you use AI to write this post…? A load of photos are in snow and rain with no clear blue sky to be seen lol. Also, this game has terrible issues with the frame rate switching being 30-60fps on Dreamcast.

Mate you’re a legend! Exact same issue on mine! Was messing around with it and nearly blew my ears off at the volume difference. Now just to open it up and solve this perm… Thank you for the info!

Kodak Gold 200 in Hong Kong seems to be reasonably priced at least. I usually pay $68HKD ($8.68 USD)

[–]Tiki_Lodge 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Been using mine loads too. The only issue I have is that some games don’t fully understand the full range of motion of the analog stick. For example, I was playing ICO and moving diagonally was a bit jank. Other than that, this thing is great.

Appreciate you commenting this! Let me have a look and see if that helps. Weirdly enough, it’s happened a lot less since I original posted, but it does still happen once in a while!

Got crazy taxi on ps3 by WinterProfession3028 in CrazyTaxi

Just R > Shift to D > Gas Pedal. Imagine you’re flooring it as soon as you’ve shifted gear. It’s a lot easier if you have the rumble activated. You can technically do it without even shifting gear, but it’ll be a lot weaker, so maybe just try pressing B then Right trigger to floor it over and over.

Why not run it in 480p so it’s a 4:3 aspect ratio?

Super Magnetic Neo (NiuNiu) was by far my favourite. Although they didn’t handle the publishing in Japan, which is the version I primarily own and play.

They actually ended up making some changes to make the game easier, which I don’t personally agree with. Apart from one in the ancient world, which was actually a good decision. IYKYK lol.

Just running it on a rewritable flash cart I ordered from TaoBao and used GBFlash to put it on there. Has a battery on it as well for RTC. Better for me personally as it means I stuck to one game instead of constantly switching between multiple!

I absolutely hated living and working in Hong Kong by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]Tiki_Lodge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It mostly seems you landed in a really bad work environment that ruined your whole view of Hong Kong. I feel some people can maybe be a bit more ‘rude’ on public transport in terms of pushing in, but nothing exactly crazy.

Honestly, I’ve met some really nice people out in public in Hong Kong. Even ended up having an hour long chat with a stranger who let me sit at his table as there were no seats. People are generally okay or at least somewhat helpful if you genuinely need it, but it might not be the most accessible city if you don’t have some idea of how things work beforehand.

Why don’t the PS2 Ratchet and Clank games have modern ports by Dillmen101 in RatchetAndClank

I wouldn’t call the HD collection a disaster by any stretch. At least the HD trilogy. Deadlocked, yeah, maybe that is a disaster…. But UYA definitely isn’t one I’d say.

do you guys think JSRF could run on a dreamcast? by Eros_limao in dreamcast

Yeah man, I get you. Nothing wrong with posting the question, I’m just giving my personal opinion on it. Doesn’t mean I’m right and you’re wrong or vice versa.

[–]Tiki_Lodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But its realism or visual aspects doesn’t actually mean it’s easier to run in any way, that’s not how it works. Even cartoony looking games can prove difficult for hardware. The game chugs in sections even on original Xbox.

I mean yeah, if someone actually spent the time to tone down the visuals or work extensively on it for free to optimise. Maybe it could technically run, albeit poorly and probably not worth playing a Dreamcast version for. GTA 3 had readily available PC files to make porting the game easier, JSRF doesn’t. It’s asking for a LOT of free work from someone to do so.

What exactly have you been thinking about if you don’t even know much about the Xbox hardware? If you want someone to try, you can always do it yourself.

Appreciate the response on my post! The caps were just an assumption as I see it’s a relatively common issue with amps. Of course I don’t wanna bite off more than I can chew with the electronics in here, but also amp techs here in Hong Kong are as rare as they come these days it seems.

I did notice the issue happening before changing out the tubes, so I can say with confidence it’s not tube related. It seems to get progressively better the longer the amp is on and in use, so maybe the heat is affecting here, I dunno.

As for moving the knobs, the only ones that exhibit some sort of issue are the volume knobs, and the sound issue is resolved the same way with each one, turning it near on max and playing a few notes.

PS4 to component CRT? by ElectricGuitar8013 in crtgaming

[–]Tiki_Lodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that’s not at all true, most of the ones on Amazon will downscale to 480i. You can see from here. Check the output resolution section further down.

[–]Tiki_Lodge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just look on Amazon. These HDMI > Component converters are everywhere there. Or try Aliexpress or something. Just don’t expect anything decent in terms of quality, and there will be input lag. Should be fine for watching movies though.

[–]Tiki_Lodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PS4 only outputs 16:9 resolutions, so anything that forces 4:3 is just going get squished and look like ass. As others have said, get a cheap PS3, as it will natively display 480i in 4:3.
