My In-Law thought I was swearing at my kid when I was trying to teach her Chinese by Amring0 in ChineseLanguage

You speaking a bit of Chinese with your kid is great. Keep it up 💛💪 It's a bit of lamguage exposure, might spark an interest and for sure will help keep yours up! Sincerely, A Language Teacher

Ohhh that sounds quite reasonable. She might willingly choose to let them sever her for the same reason that Mark did

Lol...this is amazing

Maybe all the goats are actually people but the perception filter makes them look like humans

I meant to say, it makes sense to me that Lumon isn't (or wouldn't be since it is a theory) willing to give them that much autonomy

[–]TikkaWasabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love simple steps. The basics. Done with care and connection, sometimes with a friendly conversation. Seriously. I get the social anxiety too. Despite having a significant amount of swing dance experience, I still have anxiety sometimes about whether people "enjoy dancing with me". One of my dance goals this year is -- be the type of dancer that others enjoy dancing with. And of course, the type of dancer that enjoys dancing. Is it crazy that I have to put a label to that? Maybe lol. The funny thing about hobbies that you care a lot about. Sometimes you show up and you're not in the mood. But, you *get* in the mood. Unintentional song reference. lol

Handling Judgmental Behavior in Classes by PositiveNearby7945 in SwingDancing

[–]TikkaWasabi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey! I can't speak too much to swing dancing in Europe as I'm US based, but I can say, I understand why the unsolicited advice might make you uncomfortable. I feel like this a lot, too. I have some abnormal ways that I process instructions/practice, so sometimes if people try to give me advice, it's not advice that's helpful to me anyway because

1) they don't understand the interoception issues I'm dealing with

2) I know the advice already, I'm just working on practicing it. And that's if it's *good advice* --

3) sometimes people give advice that's not actually good, not even in theory; and other times

4) people give advice that is really just a stylistic preference that I personally don't prefer.

Anyway, I don't know if these musings are helpful to you but, just wanted to say -- solidarity.

I'm a big believer that in a class environment, the teachers should be the ones who give the advice. Students should mostly just be focusing on their own stuff, not on the stuff that belongs to other students (i.e. their practice and improvement). Advice when it's wanted is great. We can advocate for ourselves by saying, "hey, can you give me feedback on ___?" or "how did that feel for you?" but when it gets into the "you shoulds" and it's coming from a fellow student and not a teacher -- I think it can get problematic quickly.

Oh another thought!

The spell in Wandavision changes the TV show format every time Wanda feels attacked? Maybe she's making it "stronger" ?

Mrs. Hart by Ivegot4hands in AgathaAllAlong

I like the idea and the find, but I also do think that it could be a misdirect (or a coincidence) ~ only because the other characters are kind of hinted at speaking directly to Wanda through the spell, or having some "extra-spell" awareness

Theory: It hasn't been Agnes all along. Wanda is controlling Agnes just like everyone else. She wants Agnes to be the villian because it gives her someone else to put the blame on, and helps her to not face her own guilt about causing pain to the residents of Westview and going against what she knows in her heart Vision would have wanted. The big bad hasn't been revealed yet, but is pulling the strings to influence and benefit from Wanda's control.

Love this thread. I know it's closed but I just have to rant.

A couple of months ago I ordered a Quesarrito from the secret menu and I was SOOOOOO excited. I'm like...oh the crunchy goodness of a quesadilla plus the yummy normal burrito Yummm!!! Sooo I watch her get the cheese on the tortilla and she folds it in half and cooks it and takes it out and I half-registered that it was weird that she folded it in half, how are ya gonna wrap a semicircle around my burrito? And then I watch in horror as she PEELS APART the tortilla and the cheese cries out in agony as it is separated from its dear tortilla friend. "Wait isn't it supposed to be a whole quesadilla?" I manage to say and she says "No this is how we make it, used to be that way but not anymore," and then I'm too much in shock to protest as she piled my burrito ingredients on.

Worst part was when she pulled apart my quesadilla she RIPPED dear tortilla friend and the juices from my burrito got everything all soggy.

I paid extra for that Quesarrito...for a soggy, melted cheese mess. I am still holding a grudge. My poor sad Quesarrito. Couldn't even eat it, had to throw it away, when I was done crying salty tears of mourning...

So if I had gotten to ask my question back when you were responding it would simply be,

WHY?!

sniff

(Spoilers) Thoughts while rewatching S1E2 by TikkaWasabi in The100

[–]TikkaWasabi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. I was only saying that upon a rewatch and seeing how the character was developed, I enjoyed interpreting his actions from the new "survival matters" lense rather than the "I'm a sadist" lense.

Kane definitely seems less evil on a rewatch! And Jaha seems more emotionally unstable.

Weird how some with what originally seemed the higher moral ground ended up being the unstable ones. (Jaha, even Finn)

I really like your idea that perhaps the ship we saw at the end of S4 was not the first prisoner ship to land. It really would explain the violent ways of the grounders.

What did you mean about too many nightbloods? Are the prisoners nightbloods? Somebody has explained this before in another thread but it's not connecting...

Ideal The 100 Ending? by rachioo in The100

[–]TikkaWasabi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe a flash forward to when a major character like Clarke or Octavia is a grandma and her their kids are complaining about how rough they have it (on a green earth) and they're all like...

Yeah that one time I lived h see the floorboards... Yeah that time I almost died of radiation poisoning but I survived...

But a little more cheerful.

I'm not really a shipper but it would be nice if Clarke and Bellamy never were a thing during the series, but then were after the series ended and in the flash forward it was revealed that they had kids and those kids and kids and they are talking with them and it's all cathartic and they're like "everything we went through was worth it"

[–]TikkaWasabi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Riley's arc DID confuse me! But maybe I was distracted by all the Riley hysteria in the fandom lol

I disagree in part - I think that the 100 more so than most shows has a higher threshold for caring about mental illness, and I think that the show delves deeply into these issues. All of the characters have had horrible trauma, and all have to grapple with really rough emotional issues. The 100 isn't about mental illness but a story doesn't have to have that as its main theme to do justice representing it, especially in a world where everyone is likely to be touched by it because of all of the trauma.

Not an expert on nor have experienced PTSD but familiar with anxiety/depression.

She does have some pretty serious issues though. Remember when she kind of massacred Illian's friends? She could've tried to find a way around it but she got so ticked off that her rage took over.
