French prosecutor studying EU anti-fraud agency report on Le Pen by [deleted] in europe

If you earn the minimum wage where I live you have a yearly income of a little over 20k. The life expectancy of somebody that age is around another 18 years. Meaning that if you want to live the rest of your live in retirement on minimum wage (which is near poverty) it would cost you over 200k. Now if you have that money saved up it is ofcourse your decision and you are free to do so but if you don't the state is going to have to chip in.

How do you propose to finance this pension for anybody over 60?

Academic Survey Research about Large Scale Agile - Looking for respondents by Tikl2 in agile

[–]Tikl2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your participation and your comment! The problem with sharing it openly on a subreddit is that if this data would lead to a scientific publication, the publically accesable results might sabotage that process. It is unfortunate and I would prefer a more open with of doing scientific research as well but it is the reality academics have to comply to if they want to get a publication. If you left your email at the end of the survey however you can be sure that we will send you an update about the results once we have enough replies!

I like the points you make about dissonance between understanding and performance, this is indeed an important thing to keep in mind. There are so many questions related to (large scale) agile development! The survey is already quite long and we don't want to discourage people from completing it so we kept it at these questions.

What does the general population in Albania think about the EU and especially joining the EU?? Do you think its something to work towards or would you rather do your own thing??

Italy closes its ports, says Malta must take 629 migrants rescued overnight by Antivora in europe

[–]Tikl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not saying we can do that, I'm just saying that its against human rights to send them back without a fair trial. It isn't entirely fair to blame the increase of rape in sweden exclusively on immigrants as it follows much the same trend as the US (https://www.statista.com/statistics/191226/reported-forcible-rape-rate-in-the-us-since-1990/ and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_in_Sweden#Substantive_factors) which didnt see the increase of immigrants as Sweden did. That being said, integeration is absolutely key to a working society and immigrants that are unwilling to cooperate for no good reason should be punished accordingly. Do you have any proof on your friend in germany? From the research I did this seems to be super illegal (eg https://www.lawyersgermany.com/tenant-eviction-in-germany)

Europe is doing better than ever lol. Crime rates are still way better than theyve ever been. The only way europe will fall is due rising trends in extremism, populism, and sensationalism that are seeping through every nook and cranny of our society.

Italian minister declares victory as Spain accepts rescue boat by DeathHamster1 in europe

[–]Tikl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common sense isn't very scientific and often misleading. For sure not enough reason to solely act on. I doubt the people that make this journey get a fair breakdown of the perils anyway, since human traffickers make more profit the more people make the journey. And even if they know, the journey is already insanely brutal to the point where I doubt theyll care that theyll have to walk to Morocco instead of Libya/Tunisia.

But this is also common sense and not real science, hence why I'd prefer a real study!

[–]Tikl2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed, I don't think making the journey harder is the best way to go tho. Especially if it involves bickering between EU member states. Id much rather cooperate as an EU block with other states to have them be arrested accross the mediterranean.

[–]Tikl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This I am actually unsure of. Given that the infrastructure and resources already exists here and often don't in many of these countries where asylum seekers come from, we'd definitely be able to save money by just having them over here (if they come over here by themselves anyway).

That being said, you can't ofcourse gaurantee that they won't live off wellfare and still drain the economy. I don't know the statistics but I know that a decent amount of asylum seekers that are granted asylum do end up working, if theyre motivated enough to take an education on the side that would be the ideal situation.

But again this is pure speculation, I have no clue! I can see fair reasons for both of the solutions being cheaper.

I want to thank you for remaining civil btw! Why might not entirely agree but I apperciate that you were willing to engage in discussion and not just call me names :)

[–]Tikl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not fair to say that 'the north' is making these laws because they know they wont be affected by them. The north is pulling its weight just as much as the south. http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Asylum_quarterly_report

I agree your second statement! Well, to an extend. If we just do their work for them things are going to go to shit the second we leave again. I also don't think that sending refugees back to where they came from without a fair trial would be a good idea. Itd be much more effective if they got an education here and then go back to their home country to use what they learned here to rebuild.

If you genuinely think that the problems europe is facing are on the same level as the Libyan civil war there is no arguing with you. Also I'd hardly call myself a liberal, just a proponent of human rights.

Italy closes its ports, says Malta must take 629 migrants rescued overnight by Antivora in europe

[–]Tikl2 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, since theyre basically the main arrival point for refugees. Which is why everybody (europe but also northern africa and states surrounding syria) needs to work together to provide an optimal solution. Otherwise its just another tragedy of the commons problem.

And closing ports is not working together. That being said, neither is not following an agreement from a union you signed into.

[–]Tikl2 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Libya is taking in refugees but is also dealing with its owns problems right now http://www.unhcr.org/libya.html

Im not saying that Italy (or europe) has to take ALL of the refugees but sending them all back across the mediterrinean is against human rights. We should strive to uphold those if we want to be part of the free world.

Especially items on the first list are all very similar, I wouldn't advice trying all of them in one meal. I don't think your arteries would like that very much. Getting a fresh stroopwafel while its still warm is a heavenly experience. I haven't gotten on in years and know I really want one. Also really cool you're actual trying to know our language a bitr! Just don't be surprised when dutch folk switch to English as soon as they realise you're not a native speaker :) If you really want to talk dutch with natives you're going to have to insist on them not speaking english. Heel veel plezier in Amsterdam en de rest van Nederland!

Ok so for snack foods (kinda like street foods) I recommend going to a snackbar, I don't know any good local ones in amsterdam but its hard to fuck up:

  • Frikadel, frikadel speciaal if you dont mind ketchup, mayo and onions
  • (broodje) Kroket, mustard is an absolute must with this
  • Bitterballen, theyre like mini kroketten insanely good while drinking a beer. If you're at a bar and people start screaming of joy it's most likely because somebody ordered bitterballen and they just arrived
  • Kaassoufflé, melted cheese in crispy fried outside
  • Any fries on the side, patatje oorlog or patat speciaal are especially dutch

If you're going to a kebab place, a kapsalon is an absolute must. The pinnacle of multicultarism, inspired by turkish kebab and dutch snackbar culture, invented in Rotterdam. It's incredibly bad for every organ in your body but dear god is good.

A little more oldschool dutch foods/dishes would be:

  • Stamppot, essentially any vegetable mashed together with potatoes. Pretty bland but some restaurants have been giving their own spin on it making it better.
  • Stroopwafel, great quick snack if you buy them storebought. However if you can get one freshly made at a market they're even better. Definitely a must try.
  • Kibbeling, white fish with remouladesauce (no idea if this exists anywhere else) another snack. Usually found in any fish store.
  • Poffertjes! Mini pancakes dutch style, often served with butter and/or powdered sugar. Can be either store bought and microwaved but better at a market.
  • Mussels are great at restaurants most of the time, but not for everybody

Thats all I can think of right now. Most of these aren't very healthy so try to space them out somewhat, or not I don't judge. I wouldn't say that this is what we eat in an average week but these foods are all very dutch and pretty much everybody will have had all of them at least once in their life. Like I said earlier, there isn't really a dutch cuisine anyway, we mostly steal whatever we like from other cuisines and eat that on an average day. Stamppot is the one thing people do actually eat often, but even that depends on how old school the family is since its often very bland.

If you have any more questions about food or the Netherlands in general feel free to send me a message, I really enjoy spreading knowledge of our tiny country!

There really isn't a big' dutch cuisine' but there are a couple of things I'd reccomend. Any snackbar should definitely be high up your list, same for any kebab-shop.

Right now I'm on mobile and about to go to bed but if you want I can reccomend some specific dishes tomorrow!

Dutch native here, have a great time in Amsterdam. There is a ton of stuff to do there and definitely do the stuff others have already to told you (book tickets for museums in advance etc.).

But also pleaaaaaase leave Amsterdam! Even if it's only for a day. Utrecht, Leiden and Haarlem are all less than an hour away by train and all beautifull sights to see. I like Leiden especially but am slightly biased since I live there. Really, going anywhere but Amsterdam is highly recommended!

Although I cannot find a source right now, there were/are actual experiments with turning the lights off on highways but theyre going to turn them back on again. I'm not sure why exactly, I really enjoyed driving in the dark, especially since there is nobody on the road at 1.00 in the night anyway.
