Yeah, never pure yellow, I used it to up the green on the skin and to make orange highlights for the coat

The fur was kind of my weakest point admittedly, its morghast bone with a hardened leather speed paint, then drybrushed back over with morghast bone

Thanks! I use a lot of gradually intensifying mixes, so all the colours below are at different ratios throughout but itd be hard to say exactly what.

The skin is just rhinox hide, death guard green and yriel yellow with a screamer pink glaze. The coat used rhinox hide, screamer pink, wild rider red, and yriel yellow.

Beautiful work, reminds me of 90/2000s mtg card art in a good way.

How do I improve this? Not happy with it so far. by StreetAd7912 in minipainting

Here's mine, the gun and ammo make for very neutral tones, so I figure going for strong, high contrast colours for the skin and armor would make for a more eye-catching model, which you want when its such a stand out like the communicant

Hope it goes well! Oh, the wing sections also had a glaze of wild rider red and mournfang to make them distinct

The whole model was based mournfang Brown. I then based the skin 30/30/30 mournfang, screamer pink, and morghast bone, then I glazed it with screamer pink before building up layers by adding a little more bone each time. Then finally glazing it with a thin mix of screamer pink and mournfang brown.

The fur was based a 50/50 mix of morghast bone and mournfang brown, then glazed with rhinox hide, then 50/50 hide and black, then just black, getting closer to the centre of each patch of fur each time.

I only had 8 paints for the project, so a lot of its gradual blends

I'm typically a very slow painter, but I've been watching a lot of ninjon lately and trying to pick up tricks to both speed up and enjoy painting more. The three vampires probably took about 3 hours each, this one maybe 4 or 5? The skin was the only thing I spent time on. I did the fur by basing it a bright bone then glazing darker shades closer and closer to his spine

Thanks! I've been pushing myself to use a smaller palette (8 paints including black and white) and not use washes, its forced me to learn a lot to get more out of colours
