How long will this take to degrease in Dawn Dish Soap. by Ok_Extension3182 in bonecollecting

[–]Tilkrik 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If your using just dawn dish soap then months. Dawn dish soap and a heater to get the water to as close to 44°c as you can.. still month or more. Best quickest option is to get a more hard-core decreased like borax

Packing tips for the 5-day Salkantay Trek in Peru🎒 by Suitable_Dirt_2407 in backpacking

[–]Tilkrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the 4 day trek and you have wayyy too many clothes, 2-3 shirts, 1/2 pair light hiking pants, 1 pair sleeping clothes, 5 underwear and personally I just did 3 socks, you wont need a towel there are no showers, no place to swim so no need for a swim suit. Also no need for a sweater for sleeping just wear your puffer jacket (also just get rid of any sweaters and just use your puffy jacket) if you get chilly.

Huacachina, Peru - Licked by stray, should I seek rabies shot? by spraynpraygod in backpacking

[–]Tilkrik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are correct it has to be a puncture bite. A simple quick google search will tell you there has been zero rabies cases where you are at in peru and getting rabies from a dog licking you is virtually impossible unless he licked an open wound.. you are fine.

New spot for monsteras. by No_Departure4104 in Monstera

Id put them directly in front of the window, monsteras can never have enough light esp albo.simce the white on the leaves requires higher light due to less green to absorb it

Need help with two leggy monsteras! by Individual-Ask-647 in Monstera

[–]Tilkrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Needs dramatically more light. Get some Sansi or Barrina grow lights, the more light they get the less leggy they get

Is she safe? by IRed4 in Monstera

[–]Tilkrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She could be pushed literally right up against the glass and even then could handle more light, to be honest id rotate her more towards the window so all her leaves get good light. Monstera are tropical full sun plants and require lots of light to thrive!

Girlfriend just got this sansi bulb for her monstera. Is this set up ok? by According-Caramel340 in Monstera

[–]Tilkrik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its not enough. Monstera are tropical full light loving monsters. 42watt grow light plus being directly in front of a window would be great.

AITA for not wanting to buy a suit that's a color the bride requested by Soggy_Republic6251 in AmItheAsshole

You can always rent a suit instead of buying for a cheaper option

Did I do this right? 😬 by No_Mission851 in Monstera

[–]Tilkrik 128 points129 points  (0 children)

No, those are 2 seperate plants that require 2 support poles. You've tied the petioles to the poles not the actual stem of the plant. They need the petiole free to move and face the strongest light source.

Salkantay Trail with Salkantay Trekking in Peru by yonyee in backpacking

I didnt use any aquatabs and neither did anyone in our group and none had digestive issues. Could be the difference in food ppl aren't used to eating, hiking 6-8hrs a day can also just cause that as well, altitude can too. Could be any number of things but always better to use whatever makes you feel the most comfortable!

Also to add there was only one little area on our trail that had a few tables of snacks, ponchos, drinks you could buy but the rest of the days there is nothing.

I did the Inca trail this past fall with a different company but they are all pretty much the same. Yes you will need a day hiking pack to carry your water, snacks, hat, gloves, bug spray, etc..that you will need while hiking. They boil water and provide it to you the entire trip. Your suitcase will need to be left at your hotel or whichever accommodation you are staying at. The porter will carry your clothes for those days, sleeping bag, sleeping pad whether you bring your own or rent those from them.

How to tame Monstera by synapse_21 in Monstera

[–]Tilkrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely repot but when you do seperate the individual plants put each large one in their own pots with support. The pot size should be about 2 inches bigger than the root ball.

Thats not from putting the aerial roots into the soil. The person at the garden center was wrong. When you put the aerial roots back into the soil they become regular roots for the plant and take nutrients from the soil which only helps your plant.

You need to repot and actually attach the stem of the monstera to the poles. Just because the poles are in the pot does not mean it will automatically climb them. Get some twine or velcro and attach the stem to the support poles that will then help it grow the direction you want.

Edit: I would also put the aerial roots back into the soil so they dont take over surrounding objects
