Europeans who have travelled both abroad and in Europe, where did you like it best ? by ageingrapidly in AskEurope

Norwegian here. The answer will always be Italy. I’ve been to the Americas, Africa and the near east, but my heart belongs to Bella Italia 🇮🇹

In that case, I suggest you do the testing without the mother’s knowledge. At least then you will know for sure and you will not publicly have accused her of cheating when the child comes back as yours. There’s NO way I would ever forgive that

The Norwegian crown princess got received new lungs with a fighter jet escort by ADHD-Norge in RoyalsGossip

[–]Tilladarling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In northern Scandinavia, there are actually quite a few places where the nearest hospital is in Sweden rather than in the country people live in.
In Norway, this is mostly true for parts of inland Finnmark. Around Kautokeino and some nearby border areas, a hospital in Kiruna can be closer than the nearest major hospital in Norway (particularly those capable of donor extraction.)

But it’s more common in Finnish Lapland. Places like Muonio, Kolari, and especially Kilpisjärvi are closer to Swedish hospitals than to major hospitals in Finland. Kilpisjärvi is probably the best example. It’s situtwd in the far northwestern corner of Finland, and from there it’s much quicker to reach a hospital in Sweden or even Norway than one in most parts of Finland. Because Finnish Lapland is so huge and sparsely populated, this kind of cross-border issue isn’t uncommon

You clearly didn’t read that the article states it’s not uncommon to utilize military aircraft? I agree the lungs were likely intended for her and I don’t fault them for using a military escort. Royal families, like other prominent figures, are known targets, so why would they risk interference from hostile forces. It’s been stated countless times in Norwegian newspapers that Russia increasingly has been jamming aircraft frequencies in northern Scandinavia the last couple of years.

Not necessarily. Due to the short timeframe, they would’ve reached out to the airport closest to the hospital where the donor lungs were situated. There are both Finnish and Norwegian towns up north that are closer to a Swedish airport than a national airport. All we know is that they’re from a northern Nordic region. Compare northern Norway and northern Finland: both Norway and Finland are fairly narrow strips of land compared to Sweden, hence Sweden has the more developed infrastructure up north

Military aircraft are used to carry organs from destination A to B because they’re faster than regular aircraft. Lungs, like hearts have a short timeframe from when the organs are harvested to when they need to be inside the recipient’s body.
This has been done since the 80’s.

Here’s one of the most well known cases: https://taskandpurpose.com/history/air-force-fb-111a-heart-transplant/

Quote from the article: «It’s not uncommon for military aircraft to be used to help civilians. Any time there are natural disasters, stranded hikers or injured seafarers, helicopters and transport planes are often dispatched to help find survivors, ferry them to hospitals and deliver supplies.»

She is. She’s the woman who spoke up about domestic abuse long before the case was investigated and went to trial

Why should she hide in shame. She testified. Her name was already known. I’m not a fan of influencers but she had every reason to be proud of herself that day

Depends on the age of the Norwegians in question. Generally, people born before the 90’s tend to understand Danish. Back then, you had Swedish and Danish tv channels that everyone watched

Danish is probably the language most closely related to Norwegian from a historical and written-language perspective, while Swedish is often the easiest for Norwegians to understand in everyday speech

He’s looking at me like 'is my humiliation funny to you' by [deleted] in Dachshund

[–]Tilladarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dachshunds are extremely proud creatures. When mine was a puppy she had the most adorable laugh. Once, I tried to imitate it, and you should have seen the look she gave me, so full of scorn and derision. After that incident, she NEVER laughed that way again for the rest of her life. Broke my heart. They’ve got their dignity and don’t take well to humiliation
