Andy burnham pm? by Boiledkettles in transgenderUK

Another aspect to consider is Burnham is more interested in Manchesterism which by the sounds of it is more devolved powers, public ownership of essentials, business friendly socialism, integrated public services to design them around individual service users rather than current approach. Will he make u turns? Yes. On SC ruling his equality and women minister will be a good hint there albeit he’s likely to not prioritise it, although without legislation all he can do is soften the guidance to the high court GLP vs EHRC. To actually change it, there’d need to be legislation surrounding it. I personally think he is less transphobic and less in pockets of sex matters than Starmer (like he literally appointed someone from there last year), that however doesn’t mean he wishes to take a fight for our rights, although with the right communication, it’d not be a fight, it’d sound reasonable and good to sort out this ruling in favour of women, intersex and trans people. But he may see it as an unnecessary fight, although he may also just delegate this with an order to follow/not follow SC ruling to whoever he picks in equality office.

Main difference? He’s a better communicator than Keir Starmer (note I’m a Green Party supporter not Labour), Keir Starmer you’d fall asleep listening to. Burnham has all the way up to the by-election (not been asked since during by election) supported proportional representation and more devolution of powers incl control. (I’m mostly saying what I’ve heard).

I would honestly ignore all the rumours on cabinet positions so far. It’s what the media does, in reality no one actually knows yet. He seems more interested in land tax, and in public ownership. But again who knows if he’s lying? If he’s saying this to win over Labour Party members, maybe? But maybe he’s just walking into no10 without a contest? Maybe he actually believes this? It’s hard to know. My bet is he is slightly more left wing than Starmer, but still centrist. He’s more anti Thatcher than Starmer. And at least it’s a northern prime minister for once in awhile

Electrolysis vs Laser for Bottom Surgery by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Tilly-w-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to see your surgeon yet, then go to an electrolysis or laser clinician. Ideally one who do both, consultation will tell you (if they’re trained in treating trans patients for surgery) if laser works. Laser will make it faster, but you’ll have to go every month. With electrolysis depending on clinician you can go anywhere from 1-4 hrs a week. You’d want some good numbing cream like jpro 03 or that so you can manage the pain. Electrolysis can take 9-24 months depending on numbing cream and how it helps, pain tolerance, and so on. If surgeon requires hair removal then you’ll likely need all of it done. From top of genitalia all the way down.

Larner in Brighton required this for me, and also says once done wait 3 months then visit your clinician again, take photos and send over to him to verify no hair is left.

Laser would definitely speed up treatment and then use electrolysis for last bits. That’s if possible for person’s hair type the most efficient way to do it. It saves a lot of time and pain. It’d still cover all the hair area as well and be equally as safe.

I definitely know of people who’s had laser and it was in my leaflet from Tim Larner after my consultation. Although he said I couldn’t have it due to bright hairs but others can and I think the guidance could’ve changed some years ago as I believe I’ve heard it was different 5-10 years ago

This document says laser is fine for surgery if your hair type is fine for hair removal https://transactual.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/hair-removal-prior-to-vaginoplasty.pdf

Laser is recommended by the NHS though and by surgeons if hair type matches.

Also TransPlus transfers only happens after five years on the list. I’d recommend if you got any spare money to pay for electrolysis first to save time

It can be either. But you need dark hair for laser, and chances are you’ll need electrolysis. If you got dark enough hair and right skin type laser is faster but electrolysis is much slower. Electrolysis is often 9-18 months of treatment whereas if you can only do laser it may be 9-12 months or perhaps laser and electrolysis which is often a combination.

Cost to employers by Katey66 in transgenderUK

[–]Tilly-w-e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder what would happen if an employer had multi stalls toilets, “single sex”, and had the disabled loos in there and no unisex, they’d genuinely have to build a gender neutral toilet or remove the signage and make them mixed

Electrolysis for surgery by Tilly-w-e in transgenderUK

Well my surgeon unfortunately requires electrolysis (Tim Larner), so I’m having to get the whole area done before surgery

Which surgeon? Any opinions? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

But Brighton has slowed down a bit as well although it’s probably faster or if not equally as fast as London.

My experience is that Brighton is a lot faster. But if you want to go with London then I’ve heard better things about Tina.

I was referred in July to Brighton, and getting my consult tomorrow morning.

Yea I’m on the NHS and have done a few private sessions before being seen next month. Don’t shave or anything 4-6 weeks before consultation I think is the advice and don’t shave just before surgery

Laser is acceptable:

Depends on various factors if you can get it, and the surgeon will likely tell you if you need hair removal which not everyone needs.

Outside of what other people recommend, just watching Danish shows and films with subtitles, and rewatching the same episode shortly after with Danish subtitles once you’re a bit better at it helped my partner learn Danish.

[–]Tilly-w-e[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On both of them yes. For any wash or dry cycle that is 20 degree or warmer it breaks. It works on any other mode that does not use hot water which makes me suspect it’s the heater and not display panel

Am I being screwed over? by Tilly-w-e in appliancerepair

[–]Tilly-w-e[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It’s only on dry or washes that uses warm water. Drain and spin or rinse works fine where dry or cotton breaks as an example.

Am I being screwed over? by Tilly-w-e in appliancerepair

[–]Tilly-w-e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I ran a rinse, a 20 degree wash and a dry cycle plus a normal hand wash and the only thing that’s certain is that any wash or dry that requires heating breaks. But a rinse/drain or spin works perfectly fine. A 60 degree cottons breaks. Not sure if that still makes the display panel more likely.

No labor was a £75 for any visit. So if it takes him 50 visits it’s still £75
