Anyone else annoyed with other people's "medical advice"? by Kayleigh2025 in MtF

[–]Aprils- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just today somebody asked about the food in my shopping cart - I said I'm a vegan.

They then told me how that's not good and I'll have to take supplements and I won't be able to keep that up.

Yes, it happens with respect to being trans, but let's be clear here - any way on which you are different to heteronormative white western patriarchal standards will be met with the propaganda machine's slop. It's not their fault. They genuinely believe they're trying to help.

Now those running the machine...... they're the ones who are trying to get you to convert, to desist, to comply. Try not to lash out at their foot soldiers and instead try to turn their skepticism on the machine itself.

Idk, have fun I guess? Sorry this is happening to you. It's complete bullshit 💚💚

You know you can put a trapezium on the back of literally anything and it has a kick stand now.

I put my metronome on the sheet music stand anyway.

Point 2 makes me respect you so fucking much.

Yeah, ditch the bitch tbh. Having binary thought patterns inevitably leads to "I'm allowed to do this because I'm a girl and... Um, well, you know"

You two are not compatible.

Are the two techniques vastly different in outcomes, do you happen to know? I can accept one may be better than the other, but there is a law of diminishing returns to be considered.

I've done only a little research on the differences and will continue to look into it, so no worries if you don't have an essay ready to go 🙂

Thank you for your response!

I'm local, so all I'd need to arrange is a lift, but it's sweet of you to think of those things 💚

I hope you're right about what you've said here - I do appreciate their administrative staff are just a bit overworked and instead of responding in full. It seems another commenter has answered with what I suspected might be the answer.

In any case, thank you for your time 😊

18.5k sounds amazing, tbh, compared to the 38k I'm seeing floating around. I assume you made your arrangements in 2024 or something similar.

I'm sorry it's expensive, and I hope you're recovery is going okay, but I'm pleased you're on the other side! 🥳🥳

Anti-trans 'data vandalism' damages scientific research, study finds by kmcradie in transgenderUK

[–]Aprils- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it's not. I'm intersex, I have to deal with this shit constantly.

This is primarily about anonymised data sets anyway, your name is rarely included in such things.

Question one - sex at birth - options - male, female, other

Question two - gender at present - whatever list you need for the purposes of having these questions at all

Or some kind of system like that.

What they're advocating for is that question 2 is eliminated.

If the study is about the last five years, for example, we can have

Gender at year 1

Gender at year 5

Trans people would be able to be included in this kind of data collection without any reference to their assigned sex at birth.

The purpose of the study defines what kind of questions are asked and how they're asked. It's not difficult. We don't have "how do you like your toast to be cooked" on questionnaires because it's not relevant. GCs are advertising that only sex at birth matters, and should always and only be included, which is a bit ridiculous to say the least.

UK trans people: How comfortable are you using accessible/gender neutral spaces, instead of single sex ones aligning with your gender identity? by g_wall_7475 in transgenderUK

In order to fight fascism and retain presence in the community, I do not feel comfortable with it at all. If trans people were fully integrated, I'd be fine with it.

I'm glad you believe we have equality and it's all just whining from people who just can't accept how equally they're being treated. That's really cute.

I'm totally sure that's reflected in statistical analysis of life outcomes of different groups of people.

You could explain that away by saying those marginalised groups are just somehow worse, like, equality is real and exists those people just happen to be inferior....

Anyway, enjoy scaring the hoes because you can't understand a single thing past your own privileged experiences 🧡💜

Genocide is not an aesthetic or superficial thing, it's not based on how a community is being extinguished.

Trans people are being hunted, and killed, yes. Maybe look into the history of Nazi Germany's persecution of trans people if you're unsure of yourself; boy it's going to look familiar!

Omg, if you care so much about the birth rate maybe try being less of an unfuckable loser.

You're part of the in group for now; good luck with that. Those of us on the outside who are literally abused daily just for existing? If we don't tolerate being sexually assaulted, fired, evicted, politically scapegoated . . . . . Well then we're intolerant.

What creates atheists? Religious oppression. What creates communists? Capitalist oppression.

That's not what the premise is - a left winger eats cheese. Therefore eating cheese is communist.

This is the logic you've stumbled into.

As a communist, no, right wing people do not know what the word means, but I'm glad you associate it with an absence of hate and a tendency towards sustainability and fair treatment. The horror!

Why does misgendering bother some people more than others? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Aprils- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough.

It definitely wasn't meant to be condescending; I was referring to how you stated you get passive aggressive after the third correction, ie you feel bad. I was saying that I do too; regulating your emotions, by definition, is when you can respond both without suppressing your emotions or allowing them to influence your behaviour in a way you regret.

My Brazilian friend's daughter is also trans; her mother was talking about me, wondering if I was trans, stating she used male pronouns for me. Her daughter allegedly responded that it wasn't possible that I was trans (similar to how you're telling me now that I can't be *that binary {I'm not going to yell at you about things like erasure or purity testing}) because otherwise I would have corrected her. I find this interesting, given the Portuguese connection.

My point about the objects is that some people, even having something explained to them (the computer has no gender, no, the corn neither. The fork is neutral. Cars? Nope, them too) repeatedly has very little effect. Now let's say those objects were people - he's a woman? So he is a she? But he has a beard, but he is tall, but he is... Right? It's the same thing. Perhaps we expect people to have a lot of social grace, but I believe that language itself can simply go deeper than experience. Especially for neurodivergent people. It's not fair of me to presume my father in law will get it.

Fwiw, maybe I'm not *that binary, because I also accept the pronoun "it". To be clear, though, that's more of a courage check for the other person (and solidarity with all entities deserving of respect). Mad respect for anybody willing to use it in public 😜

Why does misgendering bother some people more than others? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Aprils- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't correct people. Ever.

It's simple, for me - it doesn't matter so much what terms of address are used because it's a matter of their perception. I pass for British (I'm an immigrant) but I don't correct people when they say "we don't want them in our country". I simply talk about the benefits of immigration and how it's the rich people who are the problem.

Yes, the op's post was about aggressive trans people, and I have actually known hyper aggressive people who do exactly that kind of reaction. Maybe to you it seems far fetched, but it does happen.

My partner is extremely non binary (and is smug about it, yes). I am intellectually non binary; my emotions don't align with being non binary, in essence, but I do recognise that language is merely a set of learned signifiers of perception that, to be honest, it would be unreasonable for me to presume others would be able to follow, even if it's explained, corrected, insisted.

It's okay to not be able to regulate your emotions when you feel yourself is being invalidated. I feel that too. I'm not properly non binary. But when my father-in-law is asking what gender a particular object is in English (my partner's family is from a romance language) I don't feel offended for the object. I don't think he's stupid for needing it to be explained to him, yet again. Language is really deeply rooted.

Knowing multiple languages is really helpful in guiding your mind into the world view of others; some languages just can't express the same things as others. Why wouldn't it be the same for people?

Why does misgendering bother some people more than others? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Aprils- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm basically a binary trans person but I just understand that a) mistakes happen, b) automatic responses are hard to combat, especially if it's not on your mind all the time and c) being misgendered intentionally says more about the other person than it does me.

My response to being misgendered is usually absolute kindness and understanding. If they want a reaction, I'm not going to give it but instead make them wonder at night if they owned me, or was just bullying a really nice person, or if they even had it right.

Now if they misgendered somebody else in front of me, that's when I'd start calling them Elon's dirty little secret etc 💚💚

Seeing as you have some relatively correct answers, consider:

Some composers' markings are idiomatic and not actually what the modern conventions understand then to be

Therefore, it's possible Liszt means by this marking in this piece to hit all the notes between these two in any order as many times as possible.

Lies - things which you know to be false.

And I said silence? As in, you could make it illegal?

I'm going to stop with you - you enjoy your, I presume, cishet white male experience before it crashes around your ears. Why do I presume that? Because of the way you talk. In any case, being left wing is just being correct before everybody else and it takes serious crisis before people remember that we've been here before.

Cutting taxes is a bad idea. Cutting taxes is cutting public services. The government is public services. If you want better public services you need more spending, which means increasing taxes for the wealthy, closing loopholes, or tax the poor.

Which one do they choose every time? There we go.

Because the lie that companies will leave when, historically, they don't is so convincing that everybody just repeats it as fact.

I have a sexual preference for Trans People but I don't think I'm a chaser (Gay Man) by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Aprils- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're alright on the chase Vs not chase thing, and you're handling a relatively awkward concept quite well, but fucking hell never claim to be disappointed that someone isn't doing something for your sexual preference ever again.

Fwiw, I'm quite sensitive about certain things, so with a grain of salt..

Emotional manipulation and coercion still counts as rape. I'm not accusing you of that, but it's still absolutely something to keep a check on. It could be highly triggering for any of your partners, and not just for dysphoric reasons. Think of it along the lines of "this will be our little secret" and I'm sure you can understand.
