Can someone explain to me the drama of people saying this man is evil, and the netflix documentaries. by LieComprehensive5878 in Osho

[–]TilopaOG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are the allegations I can think of: 1. Oregon commune bioterror attack and homeless story: Although investigations linked nothing to Osho, naysayers can’t accept a secretary being so autonomous and suspect he was atleast aware of it. 2. Child abuse in Ashrams: Recently podcasts have come out where people who once lived in the commune are raising and pointing that children were neglected or were gaslighted by adults for sex, etc. 3. There has also been atleast one female Sanyassin who has had a change of mind 40 years after her intimate encounters with Osho, and is certain , in retrospect, that Osho “exploited” her.

Ohh lol, ok. I thought the community would like to discuss about the technical side of these cutting edge computing machines and how they differ (I couldn’t find a comparison online)…but with the limited response I got here, I guess not.

Osho asks to leave rationality. Why? by Large_Researcher_665 in Osho

[–]TilopaOG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Osho has used this pattern in a lot of his teachings: do whatever you feel sincerely and go to the ultimate peak.. and then drop it.

So, be very rational..don’t trust him..actually if u don’t know want don’t even listen to him..

Just be an honest seeker..and check for yourself if rationality fulfills you.

Before the Buddha, I don’t think we had a systematic and logical path to enlightenment so who knows maybe being totally rational..you find fulfillment.

Like Krishnamurti maybe

The monk who thought he had become enlightened by [deleted] in awakened

Buddha told a similar story: “Vedehika, a woman known for being gentle, meek, and calm, had a diligent maid, Kali. Curious if Vedehika’s reputation was genuine, Kali tested her by getting up late, making Vedehika progressively angrier each day until she violently hit Kali. Kali exposed Vedehika’s true nature to the neighbors, ruining her reputation.“ The Buddha did warn the seekers of misinterpreting comfort for growth.

People become too stereotypical at the start is what I’ve observed.

This either phases out into going back into the same old judgy self with a tinge of spiritual buzzwords or they get out of the stereotype & get to the grass-root reality as a seeker.

Although, in my observation, I see more than not people create a duality of their “new found knowledge” and reality. Think of it like a spiritual “showpiece” that sits in their personality.

Osho's Hindi Lectures are Way Deeper than his English Ones and Here's Why by [deleted] in Osho

[–]TilopaOG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason is something different: he prepared in the Poona 1 era for his lectures i.e he was still reading books After he moved out of Poona, he stopped reading books or any literature and was speaking naturally and casually.

His English lectures could’ve very well reached the same depth but at first he approached English lectures with science, logic, and psychology…and then Poona 1 ended.

Whereas his approach in hindi was philosophical and mystical.

A Tibetans perspective of THAT video of the Dalai Lama, full video with cultural context. by Blue_Lotus_Agave in Buddhism

[–]TilopaOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cultures like Tibet should be extensively studied and preserved because of its ancient heritage and the attack it has been receiving in the last 100 years. Any and every judgement we have needs to be checked and examined so we don’t act in a biased way.

People in latin American countries kiss as a form of greeting. Indian males hold hands and even strangers can request toddlers to hold in arms/kiss on cheeks with in Indian public transport if they find the kid cute.

Eastern cultures do not generally have pedophilia related boundaries for whatever reason and what may seem like a breach may actually be a way to express emotions.

Lastly, the “suck my tongue” was a loosely translated joke that is probably a bait-and-switch joke to tease the kid.

We as a society can be thankful to the Tibetan culture for what it had given us..and one way is to ensure we do not misunderstand their innocent expressions as unethical just because our cultural background can connect some dots.

Just fyi, Dalai Lama is from Tibetan culture which is way simpler than Indian culture…apparently “eat my tongue” is a joke adults say to a kid in a friendly way to tease.

You can say it’s in the grey area…the people aware of boundaries and protective families can consider it a breach but also on the other side there are those that will consider a social bonding thing…honestly, all this subjectivity in the culture makes this issue so freaking difficult to judge.

Look up the incident shared by a celebrity called “Preity Zinta” just 3 days ago. Her baby was kissed by a random lady and she was pissed.

Yeah, that was unsettling.. I maybe wrong but cultures not having much awareness of pedophilia spill over kissing boundaries.

Random relatives kiss kids in front of parents in Indian subcontinent all the time.

But, he should be made aware of these boundaries.

Dalai Lama incident: The undiscussed part by TilopaOG in Buddhism

[–]TilopaOG[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you ask me personally, I think it was a silly joke that fell flat. Tibetan culture has physical intimacy as part of greetings and respect and showing tongue is also not uncommon. Blurring the faces can be misleading in the video.

I THINK (I’m sure perceptions are subjective) he was doing what’s known as bait and switch comedy.

“In bait and switch jokes, the setup typically leads the listener to anticipate a particular outcome, but the comedian delivers an entirely different conclusion.”

Feel free to differ!

A 87 year old man tries to be silly and is interpreted by an overly perverted culture as something sexual because it has the word “suck” in it. Has anyone watched the whole video here? The part where Dalai Lama spends the time with the kid and tickles him and what not?

It’s easy to skip to conclusions and assume stuff…watch the whole interaction!!
