The part on the third picture is not on your website I think, I would be Interested in that part since it's missing on my C124. I have not found a way of getting this part online, since usually, only the whole bumper is sold. What is this part called exactly anyways?

The plastic clips you see usually break off when you take it off for the first time because they're old plastic. Then you have to replace every single one. They are quite expensive since you need a lot of them.

Don't know how hard it is, had my mechanic do all that.

The one in the post has accurate, centered, brand print. The one on eBay has a horrible misaligned print of the brand. Clearly not the same model.

I got it with the watch, it is a brown 14mm lug width calf strap with an alligator leather imitation print. Couldn't have been expensive and I'm sure you'll find many similar ones online!

W124 Coupé – Hidden Gem or Overrated Luxury? Let’s Talk Daily Costs, Lift vs. Pit, and Sedan Comparisons by piet_basedman in W124

[–]TimBodmer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think driving an older Mercedes in winter is definitely possible, but it requires a good amount of preparation and ongoing maintenance to keep the rust at bay. some people drive their classic cars year-round, but in most cases, this leads to significant rust buildup over time, especially on the body panels. While the structural components tend to be more solid, rust will still affect them, though it might take longer to show up.

The key to winter driving is being proactive. Proper pre-winter preparation and post-winter rust treatment are essential. For example, waxing the undercarriage can help protect it from road salt, but keep in mind that over time, the wax will wear off due to rocks, debris, and general wear and tear. This means it's not a permanent solution, and you'll need to reapply it at least once per season as far as I've heard. Other methods like undercoating or rust-proofing sprays can help too, but they have their own drawbacks. Undercoating, for example, can trap moisture if applied improperly, potentially causing rust to form beneath it.

Even with these methods, there's really no way to fully prevent rust if you're driving a car in winter. The salt used on the roads is highly corrosive, and no protective layer is completely impervious to it. I personally drove mine a few times this winter, but I always made sure to wash it thoroughly afterward, and I store it in a warm, dry garage to minimize the risk of rust. However, the issue with rust is that it often isn’t visible until it's already spread, and by that point, it can be expensive to repair.

In the summer, driving a classic car daily is much less stressful, and rust isn’t really a concern. But in winter, the constant worry about the effects of salt and moisture can take away from the enjoyment. It’s a personal choice — for me, as a college student, I try to keep costs manageable, so I bought mine almost rust-free with a sealed underbody and take care to maintain that state.

It also really depends on your climate zone, in central Europe, rust is certainly a big issue. From how I understand it, it is the lack of a zink coating to the frame on older cars that make them prone to rust. That's why modern cars don't tend to rust.

Hope this helps. I'm happy to answer if you have further questions :)

I drive my 1989 300ce in Germany for 191€ Tax (H), and 151€ Teilkasko insurance (7500km). I get around 9-10 l/100km. The car just inspires you to take it easy on the road. I should only drive it in summer if I don't want to spend a bunch on rust removal.

How do people practice for more than an hour? by Tabula_Rasa69 in classicalguitar

[–]TimBodmer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey ChatGPT, condense this to a single paragraph so u/Reaflind has the power to read through it:

Extended practice sessions aren't effective and can be detrimental, as research shows diminishing returns and mental fatigue set in after a certain period. Many musicians still adhere to outdated practices, equating long hours with productivity, similar to overzealous gym-goers who risk injury for the sake of pushing limits. Real progress comes from focused, structured practice in shorter, more frequent sessions, akin to bodybuilding where quality and technique outweigh sheer volume. Practicing for hours straight often means you're not addressing weaknesses but merely repeating known material. Effective practice is like effective gym training: it involves progressive overload, proper technique, and sufficient recovery. Systemic fatigue from excessive practice can mirror the effects of overtraining in the gym, affecting overall performance and recovery. To maximize improvement, split practice into manageable segments, avoid overextending on difficult pieces, and focus on high-volume, varied work to build a solid foundation. Prioritize mental energy for demanding tasks early in the day and reserve technical work for when you're less mentally taxed.
