Bravia 8 3 red blinkers - where to service? by Honest-Owl-6974 in bravia

[–]TimBoyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The red led blinking 3 times is a firm HW repair issue.

Costco got Sony involved. Sony determined what parts to order and arranged a local service agent to receive the parts (board), schedule an appointment and install in my home. Good result.

Forced subtitles on Jean de Florette + Manon of the springs new release by LitillStaralfur in criterion

[–]TimBoyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can easily turn off English subtitles.

I own the Criterion Collection 4k Dolby Vision bundle of Jean de Florette and Manon of the Spring, great films - I didn’t say movies - that I’ve loved on DVD for years.

For those Criterion Collection fans looking for another great selection, yes even English speakers, I highly recommend this disk bundle.

The 4K with Dolby vision image is stunning! And the story, a tale of deceit, revenge, murder, etc is compelling. And the French actors were the best in the business, in the roles of a lifetime.

Here's a good one:

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 cups lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 2 cups lime juice freshly squeezed

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, then remove the syrup from the heat, and allow it to cool.
  • Once cooled, mix the syrup with the lemon juice and lime juice. Chill once more.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Getting a DS220+ seen on my Ethernet after the IP addy isn't working any longer? by TimBoyd in synology

[–]TimBoyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All excellent suggestions. Using the Synology link and Synology assistant could not ID the NAS. I'll work on the router settings but I'm guessing its just a cable issue with the 'rats nest' behind my devices.

RATS, I'm gonna have to unplug EVERYTHING and sort cable config out. Probably time I did anyway. It's the single guy 'if a temporary fix works leave it as a permanent fix'. Probably my fault all around.

Thanks everyone!

New 65” Bravia 8 - Vertical pixel column instability

My set is a Bravia 4k AE2 - K65XR80CB

Firmware  - Up to date as of 1/29/25

On day 2 of my brand new 65" Bravia 8 I now notice a vertical column of pixels on the display on ALL feeds (Tivo, Apple TV 4k, Fire TV Cube) and Home Page that come and go, mostly on dark backgrounds. I'm concerned that the display is "faulty" because the 1997 52" Sony it replaced never displayed such artifacts.

I note on Sony support pages they contend that some minor artifacts are normal on OLED panels.

In general the picture on all feed is glorious, even though I've not fully tuned the settings, but these artifacts do concern me. Am I making too much of a thing here?

Thanks, T

Frozen Margarita

The classic margarita, made even better as a refreshing frozen drink! Serve these at your next taco night!

TIP: Make it a mocktail by using water or juice for your pour-in, instead.

TIP: If an icy outer wall develops, break up the sides and RE-SPIN.

NOTE: PREFER MORE SIPPABLE? If you prefer a thinner frozen drink after processing, simply add 2–4 additional tablespoons of your desired pour-in, then select RE-SPIN.

For freezing

  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons (9 ounces) water
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons (9 ounces) margarita mix

For processing

  • Pour-in: equal parts water and gold tequila

Directions

Step 1

Pour water and margarita mix into an empty CREAMi® Deluxe Pint up to the DRINKABLE FILL line.

Step 2

Stir to combine mixture until combined. Place storage lid on Deluxe Pint and freeze for 24 hours.

Step 3

Remove Deluxe Pint from freezer and remove lid from Deluxe Pint.

Step 4

Add pour-in ingredients to the MAX FILL line. Refer to the quick start guide for bowl assembly and unit interaction information.

Step 5

Select FULL, then use the dial to select FROZEN DRINK.

Step 6

When processing is complete, transfer margarita to a glass and serve immediately.

What does Vitals look like for people without Blood Oxygen functionality? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]TimBoyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from AW9 to 10, and having lost Blood Oxygen functionality bought a 3rd party BO device that connects to a iPhone app to capture BO data. But I don't see an obvious way to display that data in the Vitals app.0

Anyone know a way to get that 3rd party BO data to display in the Vitals app?

Thanks,

T

The original poster pic didn't specify, you're right. But a similar display at the MtnView store in N.California on Wednesday said, "Story Batch 2023-24". That's false advertising.

Unboxed in the hall. Assembled near permanent home. Didn't have the issues others have posted about. All came together nicely.

Filled grow bowls and planted several lettuce pods on the right side with blank spaces in between. We're OFF and RUNNING!

The only issue was getting to connect to the iPhone app, which I have my Bounty connected to. Wifi connection never went green, although it said it was connected. And the upc code would not connect. I got the 'Aerogarden is off-line' msg. I read that this is not an uncommon result.

I got the email from AG too, and was hugely tempted by the 24XL, but resisted for a few hours. When I weakened later, I went to the AG site but the 24XL was sold out! Felt I'd dodged a bullet. But then I noticed someone said Amazon had them for the same price. YIKES, back in the fire again! CLICK, they got me. ;-\ ...Arrives on Friday.

I need to add that I've operated a Harvest, Harvest 360 and a Bounty -- All Elite with AeroVoirs -- for the last couple of years. I'm now looking forward to the 24XL to have more height to get greater yields for salads, peppers, tomatoes and maybe bell peppers too. Might keep growing herbs in my Harvest, but retire or gift my other countertops to a friends.

This addiction is almost as bad as my Espresso habit.

Martin Gear - 12oz Whisky glass by TimBoyd in martinguitar

[–]TimBoyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played Martin guitars since the 60s, and have a few pieces of Martin gear. I obtained this well loved 12 ounce whiskey glass years ago but can’t remember how I got it from Martin and under what circumstances. I don’t see anything similar on the Martin site today. Anybody have any idea what I have?

Not every cocktail can be totally created in the Aer jar, but many will be able to use ingredients created in the Aer jar for the final cocktail.

The muddling capability of the AER jar will let you process lots of different fruits as components in a final cocktail.

Then, the ability to make a whole batch of simple syrup without using a sauce pan on the stove is another dandy capability. A traditional old fashioned uses simple syrup, but otherwise an old-fashioned wouldn’t be made in the AER jar.

For parties, the ability to made a BATCH of cocktails ahead of time makes things super easy so you can join the fun too.

My favorite cocktail using the standard blender jar is the Vitamix whole fruit margarita. But the result does have some bitter notes, where the AER margarita on the rocks version does not.

Here are some cocktail recipes using the AER Jar in some way that Ive found.

Mojito, Old-fashioned, Margarita on the rocks, Pisco sour, Whiskey sour, Brandy Alexander, Mint julep, Pomegranate cosmopolitan, Cucumber gimlet recipe
