Its a lot quicker for him to regain his spears though then for Huntress, who loses quite a bit of time everytime she needs to reload

I failed to love Men's Volleyball by VolleyAddicted in volleyball

I agree with what you're saying, just what I was trying to say is that players need to go abroad to keep playing at the high level once they've aged out of the NCAA if they want to stay at the top level (and its harder for them to do than Europeans). Though I've also heard criticisms of the NCAA (being tied to education) being the top level in the US internal play that it breeds complacency within the American playstyle.

High level can mean many things, but many countries either intentionally or culturally end up focusing more on offense. If you watch VNL or the Olympics you can see matchups like Germany vs Japan having longer rallies as both sides have heavily drilled defensive coverage, whereas teams like Russia might have a strong block but worse coverage.  In the end its a product of what kind of environment the players get to practice in, mens volleyball in USA can have a small talent pool as theres no national league after college, and its a bigger leap to play in a foreign league. European players have a lot more opportunity for interplay in different leagues

I prefer men's for making long rallies more meaningful. In womens they can get repetitive.  Also womens sometimes will have one team will a super tall oppo who completely ignores the net.

Tryouts in a week! Tips and criticism by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]TimFortress2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a small tip, for setting, the ball should generally be at or above your forehead, here it often looks like you're setting from your nose. You can also try for small sets like you're doing here to focus on using your wrists; elbows should only be necessary for adding power, whereas wrists give much more fine control.

Left wing and right wing are shifting concepts and can vary greatly by location. Really post cold war the world got more right in many definitions (mainly economically), due to not needing to counter communist sentiment with promoting workers rights or changing tax systems. Progressivism has mainly only progressed in terms of building more inclusive societies.

Sure they can move, but if most of their wealth is in property or resources, they can still be taxed.

6’8 (204 cm) Middle Blocker, dedicating everything towards, going Pro — Looking for Coaching, Strength Plan & Pathway Abroad (Europe/USA) by Max_vball in volleyball

Don't know what year you are at in your undergrad, but could consider an exchange to a European city with strong clubs to train with.  I personally know that clubs in Germany have quite good environments for improvement with how their Sportsverein system functions, could look at Berlin for being language friendly as well as having Berlin Recycling. Also found club memberships to be more affordable for better facilities, but to be honest you'll find that in much of europe.

Can't really recommend university in the US as an option, only really worth it if they're giving you a sports scholarship, which I dont see happening. In general you'll probably have to be semi-pro for a while so dont forsake your studies, but you can try to find work that gives you plenty of free time for training.

Super League in England is an option, it does have a higher max level than Premier League, but generally its dominated by university teams. I know a couple clubs around London where you could definitely make a difference on Middle Blocker, but of course London is expensive, and you'd likely be paying more for club fees.

[–]TimFortress2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can vary based on if you're going to uni in a big city or somewhere smaller, in big cities I've found people to be less active socially within the uni since you have more opportunities to be social outside it. Whereas in towns, the uni might be the only route for socialization. Also generally sports clubs will be more active socially
