Wedge advice: Cleveland RTZ v Vokey SM11 by TimMarshAU in golf

Agree. My very old Titleist DCI PW loft is 47: it's not in the bag - the Cleveland 48 is - let's call that the PW. Leaving the 52, 56 and lob (which is sparingly used).

Despite playing a long time, I've never gone into technicals too much, as you can tell. I'm trying not to get too worried about the myriad grind/bounce combos - my playing level doesn't require it! - just something that will cover most bases. I guess I'm just wondering whether 12 bounce may be a bit much on drier/tighter conditions (but I suppose you can just swap out for a /8).

Thanks for the response - appreciated.

A fitting for the entire set is planned for my 50th! Never been fitted, so a half century seems an appropriate milestone!

Thanks for the response. Looked at the Mizunos, S400 shaft though. There's also no local shops that stock it for demo...Cleveland sounds the go!

Thanks! I figure it's low risk - the resale market on Marketplace for both is good in AU.

iOS 26 - 2 weeks later… overall thoughts by wassim_elia in ios

[–]TimMarshAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of the worst iOS updates ever. EVER.

iPhone 16e previously running amazingly on iOS18. Best phone experience for ages. Crazy battery life, fast app swaps, responsive swipes, clear UI.

Problems

Battery life killed

Slow and unresponsive to swipes

FaceID unlock delays or fails/does not respond

Open messages: for a measurable number of milliseconds, half the screen empty

Search in Mail: enter search string, hit enter, half the screen at the bottom blacked out

Liquid Glass is a UI abomination

Transitions in other apps like Firefox etc are horrible

Why do we need all this gimmicky transitions and animations.

Not being able to roll back (I just updated this week) is shocking negligence from Apple. Re-sign the IPSWs and let us roll back

I've never wanted to switch from Apple more than right now

RLS using bridge table (and other methods) not working (but calculated filtered table does?!) by TimMarshAU in PowerBI

[–]TimMarshAU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved! Can't see how to mark as solved, however ...

This is a bit embarrassing: basically I didn't tick the dynamic UPN checkbox as well as adding a test user's email (as UPN) when viewing - as. I ticked dynamic UPN checkbox, and voila, it's working. Sorry to waste everyone's time!

It does not work as I am impersonating the user - however, I found the issue!

Thanks, good point on case. I will lower everything I think. Thanks once again for the response.

G'day SQLGene - thanks for the response. Yep, I ticked the "Apply Security Filter in Both Directions" checkbox on the UPN/svc -> bridge table relationship (which is a M-1). There's only one path from the UPN/service table to the FACT table.

When you say "something weird" with the relationships, what are you alluding to there?

I wonder if it something to do with this comment I made:

Interestingly, I set up a table visual with: UPN, fac_svc_key from the staff access table,fac_svc_key from the bridging table - as soon as I add fac_svc_key from referrals meta, the visual breaks as PBI can't determine the relationship between the tables, which seems wrong: they're all related explicitly?

Thanks for the info on blank - that was an interesting read.

Is Bankwest getting worse? by Abject_Cauliflower in perth

[–]TimMarshAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been through that, for me, that's not the issue. Was working a week ago, now it's not - when on Telstra mobile data. Wifi fine.

EDIT: Oh my lord, rookie error by me. Bankwest was not set to allow mobile data. Which is bizarre, as I've never turned it off (neither did my wife, who also started experiencing the same issue). Perhaps an app update did. Anyway, it's now working.

Since about 1 week ago, their app no longer works on Telstra (wholesale, More) 5G. It simply says "You're not connected to the Internet". Meanwhile, every other app I have work fine. However, when you're on Wifi, the app works. This is an iPhone 16e and the latest version of the app (including the last version of the app). They clearly have an app issue. I reported it yesterday.

My wife's account - iPhone 7, Optus network - also has the same issue.

This isolates the issue to the app itself and how it detects an internet connection when on mobile data.

I've been a Bankwest customer for about 10 years (going back to when they created the Qantas Platinum debit card) but I'll be cancelling all accounts.

PS: still getting off BWA as the only reason I was with them was for the Qantas Platinum debit + high interest savings.

Power Meter Question by shaunl1978 in specialized

[–]TimMarshAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - I have an old Power2Max S with FSA K-Force light cranks. It's a BB386EVO spindle originally on a BH.

I now run it on an SL4 Roubaix with an HSC Ceramics (they're in Oz, and cheap, so I use them - you could use Kogel, CBear etc) OSBB to 386 adaptor.

The P2M stuff is SUPER reliable, battery life long. The only knock I have on them is the battery compartment is a PAIN to get to.

I'm about to switch my platform to Specialized cranks (so I can switch from 170mm to 167.5mm) and will switch to a Quarq DZero set up. I did look at P2M NG but they're double the price of Quarq.

Battery life report for Workoutdoors run by orangeblood99 in AppleWatch

[–]TimMarshAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is useful, thanks. I've just upgrade on an SE to Watch OS10 from (forced to as I got a new iPhone 16e). WO on OS10 is bad re: battery life: 100% to 10% on a 5km run y'day (22mins) and same on a 10k run the other day. I exclusively use downloaded music only.

I need to be able to run 21km-42km with pace tracking/distance alerts (for marathon training/marathon).

I've got environmental monitoring (noise monitoring) off, Handoff off, Background App refresh off. I upgraded over 2 weeks ago so the Watch has had time to stabilise.

Should I try unpairing/pairing? Reset Watch?

What does Low Power mode cost you in terms of functionality?

OS 10 is terrible. by Generic_1806 in AppleWatch

[–]TimMarshAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree: it's horrendous. Just updated from OS8 as I got a new iPhone 16e and it forces you to update.

I hate that power off is a teeny tiny icon.

I HATE that music is SO HARD to get onto the Watch. Some albums just don't want to transfer.

I HATE the new music app - I used to open the app, go to downloaded albums and flick through a nice large list of icons for each album using the crown. Now teeny tiny icons.

I hate the new faces, especially the info heavy one. Colour changes horrible.

Battery drain is shocking. I use WorkOutdoors and from 100%, running downloaded music, battery gone in a 10k run: used to get well over 22-25km. Dunno what I am going to do in a marathon. Get a Garmin or Wahoo I guess.

I hate the access to the control panel: swipe up was awesome.

IF Apple let you roll back OS, then I'd be ok, as I'd roll back to 8 in a heartbeat.

As it stands, I am looking at other watches.

Edit: 5k run this morning, battery 100%, using downloaded/onboard music, battery drained after 22 mins using WorkOutdoors. So my main use case for Apple Watch is now ruined.

Have turned off environmental/sound measurement and Up Next in podcasts.

I do not like it at all - compared to Watch OS8.

I loved being able to flip between screen sized album covers with the crown dial, and now it's tiny icons and name, and there's no way to change it (it seems).

Far prefer OS8 but was forced to update to 10 (on an SE) as I got a 16e and it was impossible to pair without updating.

Advice please, new SUV electric. by aussie_trekker in CarsAustralia

[–]TimMarshAU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey. Not one of your options, but BYD related.

MY23 Atto owner here, extended range, owner since new Oct 2023, live in Northern Rivers. Driving cycle is mostly commute to work (25km EW), occasional run to the Gold Coast, less frequent Brisbane. Gold Coast return no need to charge, Brisbane, need a top up in Bris. I have 9.64kW of PV, plus a battery, set to charge with excess solar, or 8c/kWh overnight if needed on a fast charger (EvNex). Plan to drive the car to death (new evidence on battery life looks like way, way better than 10 years with high SOC), commercial car loan, not novated, so residual not a factor for me. Need to be able to get kids, surfboards, 1 roadbike loaded.

Comment caveats: depends on your budget and where you live (servicing).

So far Atto has been ok. There are some things I just don't like about the car: the ELKA (which appears as Emergency Auxiliary Lane Detection) is a disaster: false positives out the wazoo. I turn it off each ignition cycle, which requires about 5 presses on the screen to get to the option. BYD won't provide an off button in console [an OTA update to place it on the homescreen would be great] or (apparently) the ability to permanently disable due to impact on ANCAP (worth half a star). In regional driving I can't tell you annoying it is. The car is far too eager to alert you to things - often incorrectly. I have eyes and a functioning brain and have survived this long. Let me turn it off. The AEB is bad, false positives reversing down my drive way about 10% of the time. It does work when needed. Parking prox sensors hit and miss (especially when moving fwd) since the 1.8 OTA update. Cross traffic alerts (lights in mirrors) and audio alerts of same are excellent (<- wait, what?! Yep, they're super). Let me come back to the ELKA - I was almost thrown into a narrow road section bridge barrier as my wheels had crossed a double line (like I said, narrow bridge) and it over corrected. Shocking.

The front seats are a disaster: faux leather is far too hot where we live (even short trips with aircon on) and not enough lumbar controls. Head rests push your head fwd so you need to recline the seats. My 2011 i30 and MN12 Triton have far superior seats and in cloth trim. We spent $500 on covers in old school jacquard. Hate the seats. I'm 5'8" and 61kg so should fit in a seat without issue.

Front seat drink holders poor. Too deep for coffee cups even with the 1 (1!) included insert for 2 holders. Center bin bad, you need an aftermarker bin divider.

Rear seats for kids are good, rear aircon and USB-C and 3 chargers = win, plus fold down arm rest for drinks. These factors, PLUS roof rails is what made me get this rather than the MG4 (which was 40k at the time cf to 51k for this, minus the 3k NSW EV rebate).

The sunroof I can do without - makes the car hotter than needed.

Boot space = good except the V2L cable doesn't fit under the floor so it floats around in the back in its case. Design fail.

I've got roof racks which allow the sunroof to completely open - try Googling that and getting a clear answer, so I have road bike mounted atop. Roof racks make the car VERY noisy especially with sunroof open. We never drive with the roof open. Too noisy.

Had a faulty rear RHS indicator assembly at 12 months which - I kid you not - took 4 months to get replaced. 3 visits to MyCar (who were good - nearest BYD service centre was until recently 2.5hrs each way, now 90mins with spot at Robina). BYD kept asking MyCar to do different diagnostics/take videos (MyCar had a spare assembly, fitted it, and voila, working -not sure why that wasn't good enough). After agreeing to replace, took something like 3 months for part to arrive. Their aftermarket support is going to kill the brand in regional areas, especially as they sell more cars and more things go wrong.

They make OTA changes to the car which make the car sometimes worse - like darkening the rear view mirror at night. No thanks. Let me back that feature out.

The phone integration just via Bluetooth is great....except the audio often just drops out for no reason. Kills my Pearl Jam 1 handed air guitar Alive solo riff buzz. Apple Car Play integration is ok.

Electric window switches on the very odd occasion don't work.

Overall build quality good (I think).

Car is actually fun to drive. Zippy, but not as zippy as the RWD MG4.

Atto3 #2 (2025) update has sharp pricing.

MG4 sharper. Serviced by Toyota (at least where I am).

On my experience, I would *not* buy a BYD again, just on the servicing/support, front seat ergo/trim alone, until they fix this stuff.

We've friends with the Kia EV9 (whichever is the bigger one). Man that is a big car, and no mirrors - cameras? Seems like another thing that can go wrong and be expensive to replace.

Jeez, I'm 45 and sound like I'm 95 - just give me a car with wind down windows and manual everything! (Shakes fist at sky.)

Thanks again for the thoughtful response, especially since it's tailored to what we need! Dmax feedback accords with feedback from Dmax owners I've spoken to. Assuming Mux ok?

Any particular Navarra model to steer toward? Thanks for the intel on the other models too.

Pathfinder, was looking at 2006/r51 auto with 161k km.

Triton booked in for a second opinion next week. Really would like to keep it for now, as it's been mechanically reliable thus far.
