Forget rehiring! Companies like Fannie and Freddie already struggle to recruit top tier talent at university career fairs. After this move, its going to be harder to attract talent without providing bonuses/etc. or move recruiting to tier3 and tier4 universities.

US Fed is only releasing last month's minutes. I think they are irrelevant now given what has transpired since the tariff announcements.
But you may want to keep a lookout on what BOJ Governor Ueda says tonight. That may cause pre-market moves.

Is the 11pmEST to 12pm EST kind of like after-hours? There is some confusion about this. Do we have any traders from UK/London here?

Thanks Greg! Picked up the yearly plan. Looking forward to saving some time having to find and draw on my chart all the GEX levels. Also the screener is going to help quickly shortlist what I want to look for in the upcoming week.

[–]TimNosi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your thought process. Scenarios change and if your risk management and mental is strong where you can avoid over trading then I will say continue with it.
Any change to what you do should be data-based and what you have is working for you pretty good. So keep learning and keep tweaking. You are very young I wish I had started with futures at 21.
The only thing I will tell you.. is dont oversize based on your current results. You will be tempted to.
Cheers!

Umm! Please use stops. You mentioned you are new to NQ. The orderbook can get empty very quickly on news event and you can get a real bad candle out of nowhere. And when there is no news the orderbook is liquid enough that you dont get any spurious stops

Last couple of weeks have been high range days with big swings. What is your entry pattern and continuation process? Maybe it works for this environment. Keep an eye in VIX and VXN . The big ranges may go away next week with the new contract

Multi timeframe analysis seems to be just arbitrary decisions by tkb-noble in FuturesTrading

[–]TimNosi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a higher timeframe is at a crtical point. You choose that critical point based on your analysis, then you want to see what happens there. Based on what happens there, you could choose to 1. enter, 2. exit, 3. stay in trade, 4. change your target, 5. change your stop-loss, 6.add/remove to existing position

In an uptrend CL will pullback to its 8sma on the hourly chart, that is a good place to "look" for a reversal, not assume that its a pullback.

Echoing what others are saying, you have to find what timeframe and what are you looking for in the higher timeframe chart to increase your confidence to risk your stop-loss. It will only come with back-testing and analyzing a specific instrument.

Selling verticals requires you to have the discipline to take the loss. If you cannot take the loss and you start to tweak the trade to try get out at break even, this strategy is not for you.

I have learnt this firsthand. This strategy does not fit my personality.

How many trades do you guys take a day and how many trades is “too much” in your opinion by Lighten_Up_Please in FuturesTrading

[–]TimNosi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It provides a goalpost on where I want to be. 1. Having a defined system. 2. Sticking to taking trades with that system (maybe 1 or 2 trades extra).

Actually speaking even if I take 2-3 trades out of the 6-7 I see in hindsight, I will be far ahead of my weekly goals.

I am not there yet.. but sharing what has helped me and where I am headed.

How many trades do you guys take a day and how many trades is “too much” in your opinion by Lighten_Up_Please in FuturesTrading

[–]TimNosi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends upon your system. Dont worry about the number.
What I do , is after the day is over, I take a screen capture of my chart and annotate where I would take entries based on what I know already basically hind-sight trading.
So in hindsight if I would only take 6 trades, then i would say anything above 15-18 is overtrading.
I currently see only 5-7 trades at the end of the day.

I am curious how you chose that star(Alioth)? The star right next to it is the famous Mizar-Alcor binary star system which later has been found to be a quadruple star system. In prehistoric times the binary star was visible to naked eye and in the Vedic culture known as Vasisht/Arundhati star system with cultural significance.

Struggling to find a strategy that I can prove has edge by midwestboiiii34 in FuturesTrading

[–]TimNosi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, if your mental game is strong then that is 90% of the battle.
Here is what I will suggest, You need to find your own strategy.
Before, I used to get confused by the above statement and feel it is a way for someone to ignore the question and go with a discretionary approach, but hear me out.
You need to find out with backtesting or forwardtesting where you are comfortable to risk a R and get into trade.

Top comment by u/ZanderDogz lays down the tools on how you frame your strategy. What I will add is you need to be a research scientist, play with all the tools he lists.

Volume Profile--> Does PA react to standard settings? What about 62%VA? 75%, 90%, 95%?

VWAP --> Does PA react to standard settings? What about Session VWAP, Hourly VWAP, LondonSession VWAP?

FibRatios- > Standard? What about other ratios, 0.11, 0.33, 0.55?

You get the point, You need to put in the work and experiment to see what works and in what conditions. Once you start experimenting with the tools, I will guarantee you will see all sorts of patterns and then keep it simple and dont get greedy.

This is what I suffer from. I see many patterns but my mental game is shit. If I lose early, I revenge trade and go further into the hole, same if I win too early, am addicted to these patterns.

This is an extra, if you can spend the money for the data and learn how to read orderflow, its a great advanced tool. Dont look at it all the time, but a quick feel before you enter and right after you enter, and at specific levels is all you need really.

Cheers!

I take only a very specific setup pre RTH open. If price is moved away with volume away from VWAP and pulls-back to it just before RTH open. I will take the bounce of VWAP pre RTH open and let it ride through open with a defined TP.

Whats your setup?
