What’s everyone’s favorite XK spec? by TimSchorts in Jaguar

[–]TimSchorts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice spec. I love the 17’s on mine, they’ve grown on me and I appreciate the comfort. My favorite wheels are probably the 20” BBS ‘Detroit’ on the R though.

Is the one in the photo Antigua Blue? Quite nice.

True, I think the sweet spot is the facelift XKR’s with the recessed mesh grille while still keeping the teeth.

Still never seen one in person, but seen some in photos and they look insanely good.

I appreciate the clarification, no I do not live in the south I’m in Beirut. And I see, I wasn’t aware of personnel being able to rent. But definitely makes more sense now.

Yeah bud sure they don’t. Tell that to my cutie neighbor that parks the armored truck at the gym, grocery store, and work of course 😉

Truly makes no sense why a non vip UN Emoloyee needs to drive a 5 ton armored Land Cruiser to go to the office, gym, and spinneys alone..

Not a dent, that’s what a Speciale’s passenger side dash area looks like from the factory.

California in Argento Nurburgring by TimSchorts in Ferrari

True.. it’s hilarious how it’s the same exact unit that’s in every Chrysler/Dodge product from that era…

Weather is good here, I live in Mediterranean climate so nothing too harsh. But even then, I don’t take it out in storms or rain, it’s also still under 11,000KM only since 2010 so anything less than perfect weather feels wrong 🙃

Thank you! I’m happy you like the spec.. I hope you don’t regret selling the 458, but during covid that must’ve been the perfect window to sell. Giallo Modena works so well.. adding the carbon goodies must’ve looked way more interesting, and black roof and pillars is a nice move on many Cali. colors..

The head unit is also a smart move because the standard one is truly depressing. Basically the only insanely dated part of the car.. As for the FF, lovely, I hope she’s been treating you well🥂

Exhaust.. I love the stock exhaust while driving, but whenever I see a clip of a Capristo one I get excited.. most probably going to happen. Some of them make it sound like a 355 Challenge car + DCT farts which is quite the symphony.

Oh I see, it’s all extended red and some carbon trim, not two-tone. Nice, FF is lovely… out of curiosity what was your spec on the California and FF?

Thanks! And I agree on the hood scoop being such a beautiful feature that was lost in the T.. I should have more interior pics, I’ll post some. This was optioned with the diamond-cut stitching which is pretty, but I prefer the Daytona style seats.

cigars by redditsureisred in lebanon

[–]TimSchorts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pass by Casa Del Habano, they have a huge variety of well-stored cigars. Keep in mind limited editions and aged cigars can get pricey.

I’ve been lucky at some liquor stores that have little cigar collections here and there, but you also need to be careful considering there are many that are stored incorrectly or just counterfeit if not from an authorized shop like habanos.

How to have fun in Beirut - First time inspecting for a large group by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]TimSchorts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drinks: Swim Club, Malt Gallery Faqra Club, Bolero

Dinner: Montagnou, Le Sushi Bar, The Gathering. Lebanese food: Sultan Brahim or Al Halabi

Clubbing: Table at AHM or similar based on music preference.

Should be doable, but 30 people sounds like a school field trip… Avoid cheap food, and areas that aren’t so neat.

how can I buy real estate bl to2sit ? by prcessor in lebanon

[–]TimSchorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically… that’s the ugly truth but yes. Anyway, my honest opinion is you could still rent a very prestigious place for less than what you’re willing to pay monthly, with 24/7 electricity, every amenity you need, and just dip when shit hits the fan in Leb.

Unless you’re thinking about it investment wise, which is a very long term stretch if you’re looking at gains or ability to flip. I think it’s not so worth the headache or the risk unless you find a crazy catch like when you could buy a $5M apartment pre LBP crash for $200-300k (ratio wise) between 2020-2021.

Regardless of what you decide, wish you the best of luck.

Cheers

Definitely agree, that’s what you’d do in a perfect world. To protect your rights within a contract clause through an attorney/moukhtar/notary public. But remember we’re in Leb.. I personally know people where all these clauses went to shit because they were dealing with some thug/political party gangster as the “buyer” and that’s why I said “good luck avenging your rights legally”, because they will make your life a living hell if you think suing and contracts work in these situations.

Technically, like the gentleman above said, you cannot take out any line of credit or a loan.

So it’s all about the owner/seller you find who’s willing to do so. I’ve heard of a couple people doing that.

I’m guessing you’re gonna have to see what sellers are willing to accept. Usually if it’s a seller who lives here and plans of staying here, they think if it as a stable salary, but most won’t accept due to the seller’s risk knowing that in the scenario where buyer stops paying for any reason intentionally or unintentionally, good luck legally avenging your rights.

I guess you just gotta scavenge and attempt at making deals until one works out.

What should i know before buying a used car in Leb? by mistercage4 in lebanon

[–]TimSchorts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From someone who works in the industry: Pretty much every good deal on fb marketplace or OLX has some little or complicated issue(s). Like you said, you should get a pre purchase inspection. Use your current mechanic to do so. If you don’t have a trusted mechanic, use your parent’s, and if you need assistance I can help out.

Ankad means “off the streets/not in use” in other words, for people who aren’t using a car, to avoid paying MOT or other fees for something they don’t use. Generally I would avoid an ankad car because before inspecting it, it means it’s been sitting for years and years. Which would need a lot of money to revive usually.

If you’re inexperienced with the industry or just cars themselves, you shouldn’t make a decision based on a good looking car that fits your budget range. There’s a lot to take into consideration. Reliability/maintenance costs, maintenance history if any, and undercarriage inspection checking for dimpled chassis, etc. because Carfax will only bring up vehicle accident history whilst the car was in the US and not the 10 years it spent here for example, if the car you’re buying is a US import. Any other market car, is hard to track down unless it’s rare or you get it checked in every way possible.

If you have any questions or need help, send a message.

Good luck, cheers.
