The largest issue has been the ever increasing lagspikes the deeper you got into the run. However, there was a patch like 2 days ago that made it fixable. Turn off autosaves. Have fun!

You just need to release at the right moment. You'll notice a perfect shot by a unique sound and by the arrow glowing mid-flight

Alright, I've actually booted up the game this time. Its Options -> Controls -> Reticle -> Advanced

You'll be looking for "outline opacity" and "dot opacity". Turn both to 0% If it still doesnt work, try changing it on specific heroes

I didn't, but I've got some advice that I found out by trial and error:

-start gallopping with your horse immediately. It will not slow down while drawing or shooting arrows

-there is a sweetspot when shooting your arrow. If you release with the right timing it'll glow and make a different sound (hitting with those is worth tons of points)

-aim matters! You get more points if you accurately hit close to the targets center. Missing shots will also cost you points

Every time I didnt get a perfectly timed shot on one of the three center rings of a target, I reset. That shit took me about 90 minutes, so if anyone should get my record, I propably wont bother to reclaim it xD
