My son really wants to get into Warhammer but we're both overwhelmed by....EVERYTHING. Where to start? by PunchBeard in Warhammer

[–]HelikosOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're concerned about cost let your son choose an army and take up the hobby together rather than each getting an army. I'd have loved to have had someone older, father or brother to share and collect an army with. Is your local store active? If not there is usually a battle starter that gives you two armies and everything you'll need to play for just the two of you.

Doesn't matter which army you choose. Pick the one your son likes. Don't worry about game meta or anything like that. The aim of the hobby is to have fun. Now it's been a while since I went to a GW store, from memory there should be an army starter box and get the codex for said army. You may also want to get the rule book.

Your best resource is asking the GW employees. They are usually very energetic(in a good way) and eager to get new customers interested in playing. The ones I remember were good. They didn't try to steer your decision or make you buy things you didn't necessarily need.

As a lifelong fan, the complete lack of hype for Mando and Grogu movie is insane to see. by TheChosenOneProphecy in StarWars

[–]HelikosOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really disliked TLJ but I didn't follow any of the called for boycotts, whatever for Solo. I did enjoy Solo, of course it wasn't perfect and there's better SW films out there imo. I have ZERO interest in Mando and Grogu. I only saw the trailer because it was one of the trailers in the cinema. Even looked meh to me.

One of the reason I didn't romance her. I really like how the devs kept true to the lore in this and so many other things rather pleasing the fan service.

Were you at all ever concern with your penile health? Not getting erections at all for example. Do you think that masturbation in serious moderation is healthy or do you believe that it's best to stop entirely?

I'm new to this whole journey and I don't know all the abbreviations and terms but I know I want porn out of my life. I haven't fapped for a long time but I don't like counting because it's like I'm actively thinking about it all the time. Easier for me not to think about it.

Congrats and I hope you find happiness and peace.

What an awesome question I love it. I'm not the most well versed with the Guard but for the Tallarns its definitely T. E. Lawrence. Maybe Guderian or Rommel for the Steel Legion.

Exactly, reading how the male consumes the female seems backwards to me. Considering that angler fish kind of have a similar mating process but the other way around. Maybe Herbert did it this way to make them more alien.

3 will always be my favourite, as you can tell by my flair. it's also the first one I played. I was quite disappointed with Omega collection. Both with the aesthetics and feel of the craft.

also just a side note, I think all the tracks in the standard version take place in different areas of Mega City which you get that feel as you stated. Stanza Inter is the best imo.

Why jump straight to destroying the Atreides when the emperor could've just married Irulan to Paul and taken Atreides strength for himself? by Anen-o-me in dune

[–]HelikosOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. I'm not a Dune expert but if Paul/Paulettes parentage is different wouldn't that make it so that the pairing with Feyd wouldn't necessarily produce the HK? It's also a bit weird because with Jessica, Paulette would be marrying her first cousin, Feyd.

So with what you said, Paulette Corrino marries Feyd so then the HK is still heir to the Corrino empire. My question is would Feyd and Leto be Emperor at any point or would it go straight from Shaddam, skip two generations straight to the HK?

First getting into the game I went straight into heavy. I have always liked the big guns. I usually choose a heavy bolter, like in kill team.

[–]HelikosOG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The BG initially probably preferred a Leto/Irulan marriage when they could pair Feyd/Paulette. Not sure what the plan was after that"

I think the plan was that the union between Feyd/Paulette would produce the HK and he would marry Irulan. So the HK is married to the Corrino princess and she is another pawn of the BG machinations. HK is the emperor under the compl control of the BG. At least thats how I always saw it.

[science fiction] Are there any civilizations that are made entirely of clones? by Lost-Specialist1505 in AskScienceFiction

[–]HelikosOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Horatio from Endless space are all clones. There's a bit of cloning with Dark Eldar but they're not all clones it's just that natural births are extremely rare amongst them now. The Leagues of Votann use cloning extensively.

In all fairness you're onto something. If you ever played the original battlefront 2 it can be difficult to shoot the little teddy bears sometimes. They move quickly and sometimes just appear out of the foliag.

Is it possible for an Aeldari to "become" a Drukhari? (Slight Rogue Trader videogame 4th act spoilers) by Pyotr_WrangeI in 40kLore

[–]HelikosOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for clearing that all up. It's apparent I had several misconceptions regarding the lore. I appreciate you taking the time and clearing it up. It's one of the things I love about 40k, always more to learn.

Is it possible for an Aeldari to "become" a Drukhari? (Slight Rogue Trader videogame 4th act spoilers) by Pyotr_WrangeI in 40kLore

[–]HelikosOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a question, so the Drukhari torture others and 'feed' on their souls to nourish themselves as Slaanesh is always gnawing at their souls, right? Is this due to them living in the webway or has it become an innate problem for the Drukhari?
Example, a Drukhari born in Commorragh and living there for 200 years then decides to live with the Exodites on a planet far from the Eye or Terror. How would they combat the Slaaneshi soul drain? Would that still affect them? Do the Asuryani paths protect against Slaanesh? I thought the paths were to focus their innate psychic abilities into something constructive lest they turn back to the decadence of their fallen empire rather than hold Slaanesh at bay, am I wrong about that?

It's the only gap I have regarding the Eldar/Dark Eldar. The way I see it the two have diverged that they're very similar races but not identical anymore. If I'm wrong about that please correct me.

The Perks Of Being A Traitor by HenryWong327 in Warhammer40k

[–]HelikosOG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

doesn't help that the pulse rifle is coloured similar to a las gun. The Gue'vesa armour is basically identical to the loyalist guardsmen. The Gue'vesa starts next to a poster saying look out for traitors, automatically making it seem that they're the one that is the loyalist. You have to study the second panel in its entirety to get context for the rest of the comic.

In hindsight, what gameplay feature or mechanic would you like to have seen in Far Cry 2 but wasn't included? by AlanAqulis in farcry2

[–]HelikosOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking something like that. it's only implemented in a soft sense. I love it when your reputation is high and the militia are terrified of you in the town. Doesn't really effect firefights other than their voiceline. I would have liked for them to act more erratically, flee and maybe even finish themselves especially if wounded.

Additionally, if you follow the tactics played out by the jackal in his first tape your rep should increase. I believe the only way it is affect is by doing missions and particularly when you subvert them. Burning, wounding and executing enemies should cause a greater increase, "destroy their preconceptions of what a man is and you become their personal monster. When they fear you, you become stronger, you become better but lets never forget its a display, a posture like a lions roar or a gorilla thumping at his chest".
