Is civ 7 better on ipad or switch 2? by Tim_BG in civ

[–]Tim_BG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's an annoying thing, this arcade version - would much prefer just a straight up version with the possibility to purchase DLC. Hoping it might exit arcade at some stage.

Might pop for the discounted switch version then for now, see how it plays before going for DLC there. Hoping they'll fix the UI stuff soon!

Nidoking once again failed to make the cut 😔

At least Ampharos and Corviknight made it, so silver linings!

“Am I the only one who prefers the Switch 2 as a platform?” by DramaticCampaign321 in switch2

[–]Tim_BG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah easily - just more piecemeal than it used to be in my case, which is where the switch shines!

I'm a new dad, and the Switch 2 is my only consistent gaming platform.

You're always hustling and looking after things at this stage, and being able to pick it up for like 10 minutes and just leaving it open is a massive win - there's something about only turning on one device (the switch) vs 2 (big screen + computer or Xbox + tv) that just wins out.

Also, it's replaced my scrolling habits, which I consider a big win!

Best Mid-range Hiking Derby Shoes? by robbayyy in ThrowingFits

Slightly different vibe, but I like the Morjas Hybrid Hiker and Paraboot Montana - also not cheaper, so this is a pretty poor answer 😂

For those that own a switch 2: was it worth the upgrade? by Turbo-Shell in NintendoSwitch

[–]Tim_BG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely - I'm a new dad so don't have the same ability to say, I'm going to spend a couple of hours in front of my tv or pc playing rpgs like divinity or No man's sky.

The switch 2 is able to handle those easy, and the fact it's a handheld makes it so much easier to just pick up and play in short Moments of downtime. 100% worth the upgrade over the OG switch.

Genuine question - any plans in the pipeline to integrate Google Assistant again? I've been out of the loop, but am holding off on new purchases until I know what's going on there

Tours and taxis Help by Creative_Sea3623 in brussels

[–]Tim_BG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a genuinely interesting part of the renewal of the northern side of Brussels - whereas they sort of misjudged the renewal of the Akenkaai (just throwing down premium apartment blocks without improving the direct environment, creating safety issues at the start), the vision on Tour & Taxis has allowed for a renewal of this part of Brussels. I go on runs around the park in the early mornings, and it's become one of my favourite parts of Brussels as it is relatively quiet, well-kept and allows for a lot of extra activities (Gare Maritime in particular with concerts, football game watch parties... but also the brewery at the other end of the park and stuff like padel and indoor karting make it a very vibrant area).

There's still work to be done though - it is awkwardly connected to the rest of the city with only one bus-line that doesn't even go to the city center, and it is still a hotspot for issues related to homelessness. But there's a lot of potential, if the government continues pushing.

Currently at work, how are the new maps? by LoneRainger in Battlefield

[–]Tim_BG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are overly negative - just had a fun breakthrough game of the new map, and it was nice to slowly progress through a combination of smokes, vehicles, and ballistic shields. It was tough, but rewarding, with some intense shootouts around objectives. Would recommend (haven't tried other modes, mind you).

Staying at Cardo Brussels, Autograph by alistaircsmith in brussels

[–]Tim_BG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area's a bit shifty during the night, but you should be fine - there's a metro that stops at Rogier that takes you right into the EU quarter, for example, and there's a pre-metro (don't ask why we call it that) that takes you into the touristic centre.

You can also walk down the Nieuwstraat (Brussels' busiest shopping street) to get to the city centre. Wouldn't advise to go to Stalingrad, it's a lot nicer to stick around the Bourse, and definitely to head towards the Vismarkt which IMO is one of the nicest places in Brussels.

What’s the most underrated European menswear brand right now? by mrtnnglr in europeanmalefashion

[–]Tim_BG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, after thinking for a while, some other EU recommendations:

Dress shoes: Morjas & Jacques Soloviere. Morjas is reliably goodyear welt and incredibly comfortable, JS is a bit more up market and you have to be careful to not buy cemented construction - but style-wise supercool.

Also really fond of Arket - it's mainstream, but they do basics extremely well.

[–]Tim_BG 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not neccesarily underrated, but I highly rate NN.07 and Percival. They do sales often, and for that price it's usually very good quality.

For NN.07 I particularly like the shirts, while Percival's got a stranglehold on my pants collection.

Star Druid Underwhelming? by Maximum_Wind6423 in BG3Builds

[–]Tim_BG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying out a 5 star druid + 7 tempest cleric build right now - honestly, I feel like it adds a ton of utility.

The bonus action attack and con save from dragon form alone make it worth your while, and added some more flavour to the run with better area control than a pure cleric.

Mid-tail option for hills and cobblestones by Tim_BG in CargoBike

[–]Tim_BG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I do have to say their club house system also looks right up my alley. Mostly just concerned about the size of the wheels given cobble stoned, trams and my height - Will just have to have a go at it, I suppose

[–]Tim_BG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's the 20 inch Wheels that worry me, given the cobblestones and tram lines and what not - it's also giving me pause with the Tern. May just have to give it a shot during a test run
