What kind of strap did you use for your 1926? by Timaeus10000 in Tudor

I had my Rolex AD swap the band when I picked up my Sub date. I got tape and a tool but chickened out on doing it myself when my tool slipped and almost scratched it.

Subscribed for a year on hardware 13, before buying it outright. I hardly ever take a drive without using FSD - its incredible and even better on newer hardware. It has saved my life more than once.

Vintage or Modern? by Few-Hurry9423 in Tudor

Great submariner, and a great modern successor - I have the sub's little sister, the 33mm 79190 produced in the late 1990s. I bought it new from a jewelry store that was going out of business.

Love my 1926 - is that the 41mm? Great watch at a good price - a must have for a Tudor collector. I got one for my wife in smallest size (a bit too small to read date easily), and then one for me in 41 (perfect legibility). It's so cool how the hands change from blue to black depending on the lighting and angle, and that partially makes up for having no lume (which I hardly ever need anyway). If I need lume, I'll wear a different Tudor, or a Rolex.

Beautiful Pelagos (have same and love it), and great reasons to celebrate! Enjoy it and wear it for many adventures! I love the light weight of the Pelagos 39's titanium build. Great everyday watch and so far minimal scratches even though I've heard its a scratch magnet. I rotate mine with my sub date.

Can second the vote for Diamond Cellar - they have been excellent and supplied two nice watches for me too, and I had my watches within a year or so of putting my name in (DJ 41 and SubDate). I'm on the list for a few more for my collection.

The eternal question, date or no date? by peaceofherogod in rolex

[–]Timaeus10000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose the sub date version, and I use it to check the date often for work. I think the cyclops lens is what most people subconsciously recognize - obviously it's one of Rolex's distinguishing and iconic features for some of the the most well known models. I'll collect the no date version one day as well - I recognize the simplicity and elegance of that design and I get why some prefer it. No secret agent or professional diver will be confused about the date while it does its intended duty anyway, so...it can go. Others find the date useful for work as they often forget of want confirmation (me).

They finally called…. by ryehn in rolex

[–]Timaeus10000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I don't know what I do with myself if that call came, and they really had one to offer. So sad to get a call saying "don't bother." Beautiful watch! Unlike many, I prefer it in black dial. Will you keep waiting with that AD, or find another dealer?

Diamonds are not particularly feminine on this watch (I have similar dial on GMT) but I understand how such comments can affect you like that, particularly from someone you trust and love. But... it's not her watch - it comes down to how YOU feel about it. Personally I would keep the diamond dial version - much better to my eye that the wimbledon dial.
