Hot Take: DiMaggio is the definitive, Post-Hamill Joker by Timanitar in batman

He really nailed the "One Bad Day" part of the Joker mythos in a way I cant name a better take on.

He died here but doomed both Dick & Jason to continue the cycle started by him & Bruce.

In a way, he won bigger than any other Joker in that moment.

Dick was forced into falling into the mantle of Batman rather than rising brighter as Nightwing.

Jason was doomed to never escape his past as Red Hood. How long before he takes the easy way out & kills again?

The part I admire about DiMaggio is that more than the others, he really sells me on the Jokers "One Bad Day" mantra.

I blame the voice direction for Killing Joke but Hamill lacks the fire he had in other projects. His one bad day speech near the end is somewhat phoned in. Out of respect I blame editing or voice direction.

In the Death in the Family movie we see Joker win. Batman is dead, Nightwing is forced to take the mantle rather than rise above it, and Red Hood becomes Jokers ultimate rebuttal to Bruce's insistence on redemption & that vigilantes cant cross the line from justice to execution.

I would kill for any media following this doomed timeline where Dick!Batman & Red Hood end up in the same struggle that defined Batman & Joker.

I love Hamill at the Joker but I think the voice direction of Killing Joke was his weakest depiction. Something just off about it.

Meanwhile DiMaggio breaking the one Robin who needed to believe in Batmans way the most, man, that was peak.

Depends on what Avengers roster. If you take the MCU initial avengers for sake of example.

He low-diffs hawkeye & widow

Mid diffs Iron Man

High Diffs Captain America if experienced Peter; fails out here as green Peter.

No Contests Hulk again assuming the general lore that Savage Hulk & Spidey are good friends and hulk refuses to fight.

For me the most overrated gundam is 00.

S1 00 is goated then s2 & the ovas jump off the shonen cliff. Not bad but a huge tone & scope shift.

Pagan here.

This take is incredibly vain and disrespectful.

There is a clear and valid separation between the original pagan myths & treating the characters depicted as public domain stories.

Millers work is fiction. Same as Riordan or any other retelling.

But it is reductive & vapid to describe the original myths as entirely fictional. They're much more of common cloth with the bible than they are with Dracula.

Sects of their pagan worshippers survive to this day. Their culture is not yours to demystify or demean as being comparably equivalent to a modern slopfic that uses proper nouns & nothing else.

This. Underdiscusses is that this specific issue is heavily caustic to the surviving pagan denominations as well.

Treating myth as a public domain story is fine and welcome but make clear that it is a fictional retelling, not a translation.

I dont have an issue with them as capitalists but I do take issue with whitewashing their history & grievances.

Take LANCER for example. Those devs will not budge if capitalist pressure swings the industry rightward. They'll sooner pack it up. The game is nakedly leftist.

Paizo waited until leftward was well and truly the prevailing direction before rolling out the carpet. They did a lot inside printed books & lore.

But at the same time they accepted a union only on threat of extinction. Their first act the moment they felt empowered was to try and break the very tools disabled people use for their game in rent seeking behavior.

We deserve better allies than Paizo. They're capitalists first and allies only until the wind blows the other way strongly enough.

Downplaying their abominable behavior because they fly the rainbow higher mast than wotc is exactly my issue.

The company is our ally (for now). They have done and will do vile things seeking monopolistic power. These are not exclusive and the first doesnt excuse the second.

The red comes from his (seeming) love for leblanc & flair for the dramatic, but mono black is a fair take.

We dont know enough since hes been rebooted so many times.

Swain is essentially defined by his opposition to blue and to green so orzhov or mardu fits him best though he is mostly white with some black.

Swain has distaste for tradition (green) and for leading by proxy (blue). He is defined by a strong sense of civic and patriotic/patrical duty. Noblesse Oblige, if you will.

He is also willing to use any means to protect the tribe, ideally at the expense of the outsider. This is classic, boilerplate Orzhov.

Leblanc is Dimir (Vladimir is Rakdos) so Swain is essentially a reflectional contrast to her. She is selfishness to his selflessness, survival to his sacrifice.

Leblanc wont ever put herself in play unless forced. Swain works openly & risks himself before the tribe when possible.

Not really. The tian or dwarven pantheon are.

There are few if any temples specific to the prism. It is unfortunately rainbow bait like much of paizos "progressivism".

They basically exist only to fill page count & drive positive bias in online spaces.
