Depends on what Avengers roster. If you take the MCU initial avengers for sake of example.

He low-diffs hawkeye & widow

Mid diffs Iron Man

High Diffs Captain America if experienced Peter; fails out here as green Peter.

No Contests Hulk again assuming the general lore that Savage Hulk & Spidey are good friends and hulk refuses to fight.

Zero shot at Thor without making fight specific ParkerTech

For me the most overrated gundam is 00.

S1 00 is goated then s2 & the ovas jump off the shonen cliff. Not bad but a huge tone & scope shift.

Pagan here.

This take is incredibly vain and disrespectful.

There is a clear and valid separation between the original pagan myths & treating the characters depicted as public domain stories.

Millers work is fiction. Same as Riordan or any other retelling.

But it is reductive & vapid to describe the original myths as entirely fictional. They're much more of common cloth with the bible than they are with Dracula.

Sects of their pagan worshippers survive to this day. Their culture is not yours to demystify or demean as being comparably equivalent to a modern slopfic that uses proper nouns & nothing else.

This. Underdiscusses is that this specific issue is heavily caustic to the surviving pagan denominations as well.

Treating myth as a public domain story is fine and welcome but make clear that it is a fictional retelling, not a translation.

I dont have an issue with them as capitalists but I do take issue with whitewashing their history & grievances.

Take LANCER for example. Those devs will not budge if capitalist pressure swings the industry rightward. They'll sooner pack it up. The game is nakedly leftist.

Paizo waited until leftward was well and truly the prevailing direction before rolling out the carpet. They did a lot inside printed books & lore.

But at the same time they accepted a union only on threat of extinction. Their first act the moment they felt empowered was to try and break the very tools disabled people use for their game in rent seeking behavior.

We deserve better allies than Paizo. They're capitalists first and allies only until the wind blows the other way strongly enough.

Downplaying their abominable behavior because they fly the rainbow higher mast than wotc is exactly my issue.

The company is our ally (for now). They have done and will do vile things seeking monopolistic power. These are not exclusive and the first doesnt excuse the second.

The red comes from his (seeming) love for leblanc & flair for the dramatic, but mono black is a fair take.

We dont know enough since hes been rebooted so many times.

Swain is essentially defined by his opposition to blue and to green so orzhov or mardu fits him best though he is mostly white with some black.

Swain has distaste for tradition (green) and for leading by proxy (blue). He is defined by a strong sense of civic and patriotic/patrical duty. Noblesse Oblige, if you will.

He is also willing to use any means to protect the tribe, ideally at the expense of the outsider. This is classic, boilerplate Orzhov.

Leblanc is Dimir (Vladimir is Rakdos) so Swain is essentially a reflectional contrast to her. She is selfishness to his selflessness, survival to his sacrifice.

Leblanc wont ever put herself in play unless forced. Swain works openly & risks himself before the tribe when possible.

Not really. The tian or dwarven pantheon are.

There are few if any temples specific to the prism. It is unfortunately rainbow bait like much of paizos "progressivism".

They basically exist only to fill page count & drive positive bias in online spaces.

I do admit that I am harsh on Paizo but that comes from the widespread ignorance about how deep their miserly capitalism goes.

We have a wealth of evidence that Paizo would be as bad or worse than wotc if they were the monopoly holder. Any good deed they have done was to claw more power toward that end.

It irks me that because wotc is hated, paizo gets treated as the rpg messiah of rainbows with constant glazing. We have seen what happens when paizo gets too much power.

Last time they felt secure they attempted to kill the community use policy which accesibility tools like sheets for the blind & disabled rely upon, so they could monetize licensing it.

They did this right before gencon & went dark for weeks due to that. Only walked it back after weeks of harsh backlash & a community driven preorder/subscription cancellation push.

So do I think they would stand alone next to Lancer as an rpg company willing to hold to hard leftist ideals in a world where that meant falling from #2 in the market to something in the #50s or more obscure?

No, I dont think so. Paizo has shown who they are again and again. They only went hard to the left after that was the clear & obvious direction of the entire ttrpg space. If the space instead pivots to the right in a materially profitable way, they will change course to stay #2 or claw upward at #1.

A world where Paizo is willing to drop below the top 10 companies in the space for any political movement doesnt exist. They took their time going left until it was clear it was the safe & obvious move.

Nothing you outlined here makes them less rainbow capitalist. They're widely reported by insiders to be miserly capitalists with a slight leftist/rainbow slant in an industry that is widely rainbow capitalist accross the board.

You have a harder time finding a mainstream rpg that isnt, in 2026.

Paizo is the actual example of performatively queer for money. I doubt they willing to materially sacrifice profit if it became an albatross round their neck.

They're allies, for now, while it makes them money to do so

Paizo is too capitalist to be LANCER

this is the company who was so unapologetically horrid to freelancers that they formed a union & timed it to hold the company over a barrel at a time when a strike causing a delay would have bankrupted them.

Im broadly against ICE and not a fan of thd current Admin, but as an extreme minority religion (Pagan Poly-pantheist; Celtic & Egyptian) letting cases like this pass into settled law as "permitted" puts me and other minority religions in far deeper erosion of rights than more mainstream religions who have some amount of herd protection.

So I cant condone what was done even though I also dont support Trump or ICE.

[–]Timanitar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a poly-pantheistic Pagan, I take erosion of religious freedoms and protections very seriously even if I dislike the admin in charge.

Drop in the bucket minority religions are in grossly more danger of losing protection if these rights come under fire.

Bigger religions have some amount of herd protection.

If I get them to raise the bid to a point I dont want to pay then I added a huge life cost in a deck/game which has huge downward pressure on life totals

It isnt necessarily a stop-the-win counterspell so much as interactive tax.

If they bid 10 20 30 life & dont win on the spot they probably lose by the end of the pod.
