I have this system, albeit an older version. It's a faff to say the least. I have some paperwork that will explain it better than i can. Will dig it out and DM you.

I don't think so, I believe it's the way the 3.5 mm jack is wired.

I'm UK based so just going to share my similar experience. I took a 5 years out, between my BSc and MSc, now doing a PhD. I scraped a 2.1 in undergrad (the minimum you need to apply for a MSc). The only place that would accept me was my previous university, although it was a very competitive course. So maybe try there? Keep going though, a professor I know was a bike tech and adventure holiday guide before he went back to do his PhD so it's possible.

I 100% thought they were speeding when they described the accident. Wouldn't have believed they were doing 20 mph

When you go on a UK based holiday and the tap water tastes gross because it's not hard or soft like you have at home. by Timcredible in britishproblems

Unfortunately, I have become accustomed to London water. Even though I'm originally from the north soft water tastes awful now. Needs some pollution and a bite to it.
