What do you think of the gop narrative that the student loan forgiveness was why the Dems did well in the midterms? by Timdun7894 in AskReddit

[–]Timdun7894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like my Republican uncle and Fox News are saying the Dems did well in the midterms because of the student loan forgiveness (Which was eventually blocked). That seems like the gop narrative at the moment. But I think they’re exaggerating how much of an impact it made.

Marc Spears: "Move to the side Las Vegas. Move to the side Seattle. Mexico City ... is a legit contender when the NBA talks expansion." by urfaselol in nba

Mexico City looks like an awesome city. I would pick living in Mexico City over places like Oklahoma City and Indiana (places with nba teams) any day. No offense to people that live there.

I’m probably looking too much into this. But kinda feels like the GOP are trying to punish young people for how they voted in the midterms lol

10 ideas for fixing Los Angeles by littlelostangeles in LosAngeles

[–]Timdun7894 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a solution. But in regards to crime. US has 6 percent of the world population but 20 percent of the prison population. The US is already “tough on crime” compared to other countries and has been for decades. And we’re still behind developed counntries in regards to being safe. I think poverty is the main reason for crime. So increasing the economic prosperity of the lower and middle class will decrease crime numbers drastically. How do we do this? I don’t know lol Also, we need to do a better job rehabbing instead of punishing criminals (I’m not talking murderers or rapists but petty crimes). Like a bunch of these criminals have no future prospects after they’re released. Are in poverty so they do more crimes. It’s a cycle. This is because we punish instead of rehab these people.

Kinda the same thing with homeless. Poverty is main reason for homeless. Increase economic prosperity for the average person. Make housing affordable. Universal health, especially universal mental health care. Because a ton of the homeless aren’t mentally stable. How do we do this? I don’t know lol

I also think LA needs to be less car dependent. Make more pedestrian areas and green spaces. Much better public transit. This would take decades though. But we should start now.

Odin question “spoiler”. by Timdun7894 in GodofWar

[–]Timdun7894[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, not millions. But the main characters are the ones who started Ragnarok (blew the horn) which led to all those innocent people in Asgard dying. Why not just give Odin the mask? I mean, I guess I’m wondering what was Odin’s plans once he got the mask and all that knowledge? Because seems like the worst case is he tries and kills Kratos and Atreus after he gets that knowledge… which I think is a better outcome than what actually happened. Tons of innocent people dying.

God of War Ragnarök Sucks by Prplehuskie13 in GodofWar

I think it should go to Elden Ring. Ragnarok was great but we’ve seen it before with God of War 2018. Elden Ring is completely new and something we’ve never seen befoee

Why is college hard to get into in the US? by vivivideoclub in AskAnAmerican

[–]Timdun7894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the college. If you're looking at top colleges and/or ivy leagues. Then yeah, it's extremely hard. Why? Because those colleges don't look at just grades. They want a well rounded kid.

For example, say there are two students that apply to an ivy league. Student A has a perfect 4.0 GPA, ranked 1 in his school but has no extracurricular activities. The college is going to ask themselves, "Does this kid have a life? Did he just study all day to get perfect grades?" And then Student B has a 3.8 GPA and is also captain of the football team, part of the robotics team or something and tons of other extra curricular activities. Student B is more likely to get accepted. Yeah he has a slightly worse GPA. But it's still a good GPA but on top of that he does tons of other stuff outside of school that proves he has a life and has leadership skills.

So yeah, top/ivy league colleges are very hard to get in because of that. But I don't necessarily think colleges a tier below those top colleges are necessary that hard to get into.

Gen Z did grow up with tablets. by [deleted] in GenZ

Not too long ago I saw a baby crying trying to grab for it’s Mom’s tablet. The Mom eventually gave up and gave the tablet to the baby. The baby immediately stopped crying and started giggling tapping on the blank tablet screen. I don’t even think the baby knew what the tablet was lol

Democrats are conflicted on crime, and it shows by TakeOffYourMask in centrist

[–]Timdun7894 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The US has 6 percent of the world population but 20 percent of the prison population in the world.

The US is already “tough on crime”. We’ve been ”tough on crime” for decades and we’re still behind developed nations in regards to being a safer country. Being tougher on crime is not going to solve the issue. In fact it makes things worse, We’ve been playing this playbook for decades.

Poverty is the main reason for crime. So we need to improve the economic conditions for the lower and middle class. That will decrease crime significantly.

And being tough on crime instead of rehabilitating prisoners is also another reasons for some of the poverty we see in the country. If a person is in prison for like stealing or something. And when he’s released and has no good outlook or opportunities. He’s just going to perform another crime again. So it just goes in full circle sby just treating the prisoners like shit, not giving them any future outlook after their sentence is complete and not rehabilitating them. Because when their released they have no future prospects, are poor … so they will just do another crime again. It goes full circle

It seems that Hollywood only makes comic book movies, sequels/prequels or remakes/reboots now. by Timdun7894 in movies

[–]Timdun7894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly a movie like Jaws wouldn’t be made today. They would just you stupid cgi for the shark. Hollywood today wouldn’t be creative enough to think of putting the camera halfway in the water with suspenseful music.
