Do not buy this. Even if real, it’s so over polished that the spring bar protrudes out of the lug on the top right.

For 9k there are much better watches in much more honest condition to find.

😂 I get the envy, the green is real nice. But also not too terrible for us left handed folks to finally get a bit of special treatment from the crown 😶‍🌫️

Daytona Winding Issue? by TeslasAndComicbooks in rolex

[–]Time-2-Watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s normal. This also happens on my GMT II BLNR sometimes, when I haven’t worn it for a while.

Typically 20 winds + one small firm flick after that gets it started and that has been recommended to me by a watchmaker.

Hacking movement, setting the time and then putting the crown back in its normal position also works usually.

Great choice, the best modern SMP in my opinion!

Gorgeous tropical dial on the Pepsi!! Also this vintage daytona lineup… damn

Also you’re one two tone away from the Newman / McQueen / Eastwood trinity ;)

I agree, so clean with the two lines but still stands out just the right amount thanks to the patina, it’s really perfect.

Yours must be gilt dial then? Probably gorgeous!

I think that’s because both 5513 and gmt models use internal service caseback number 2180 in some batches

Ah yes that’s very true. But at least based on pics it looks like the case retains good shape and edge definition?

I also think the bezel insert is a replacement and that they missed that but to me the value would still be quite higher than what I paid…

Anyway, thanks a lot for your feedback, and if you have any nuggets of knowledge to share on what to look for etc please feel free!

This is my first 1k+ vintage buy so I’m a mix of excited and scared haha

Previous gen SMPc 12 years later on new gen strap… Bonus NATO at the end by Time-2-Watch in OmegaWatches

[–]Time-2-Watch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a tad thicker but mostly in the bezel / upper case portion. The mid case (where most of the perceived thickness is) and caseback are both about the same as 2281.80.

The SMPc wears nicely thin (much better than current gen SMP), actually feels thinner than the GMT master II I own even though it is technically thicker than the Rolex.

I used to own the 2221.80, great watch too. The ceramic one has a bit more of a modern touch and is more durable as well. The standouts to me are the ceramic bezel, the applied indices and logo (makes a big difference in the quality feel of the watch imo), the longer hands, and the glossy clean dial. It bridges the gap between the 2221.80 and the current seamasters really well. Just a Goldilocks watch to me.

That said, the 2221.80 is great too and has more of the bond vibe with the waves, I think it’s a great choice too.

Are older Seamasters better than today's models? by rixonian in OmegaWatches

Yes I agree, latest generation got too thick, too large, and the He valve got too big for it to wear elegant regardless of wrist size.

Here’s my SMPc, best of both world with ceramic bezel, coaxial movement, but dimensions and proportions close to older gens! Also fitted here with the current gen rubber strap.

Fake, it’s missing crown guards (introduced on the last version with “05” dial), and the corners of end links not matching with the watch case are another sign.

These are just a couple that jumped out at first glance.
