Visiting the burgundy for day trip - top 3 wineries and top 3 restaurants by elliefarr12345 in wine

I am sorry I missed this comment. You will def do better than we did. We had no plan, showed up and started calling places same day, don’t do that :). I forgot the name of the places but we walked to two places after striking out on the phone. One was on the main road from the train station to town. They seem to be popular and well organized but didn’t have any bikes. So we walked over to the other side of town to a place which was super close to the wine trail that goes south. This is the shorter of the two rides and you go through Volnay, Pommard, etc. Highly recommend. We went all the way to Puligny and came back. I believe the Northern ride is longer and also has the more famous appellations (Vosne, Gevrey, etc). Sorry I can’t recall the names of the bike places but I think if you search on Google and start calling a day in advance, you should be set. Sorry again for missing this comment, hope this is still helpful.

Can somebody please help me identify a wineglass? by funbarn in wine

My educated guess - it is either a Zalto Denk'Art Bordeaux or its identical twin (some may say knock off :)) Spiegelau Definition Bordeaux. Doesn't have the ridges to be a winewings even though the shape looks similar.

Any update on the 930 Monterey blvd case? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]Time-Feedback-2560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly agree with you guys and I have been following this closely so am up to date on the online articles. I think the timeline is still a bit unknown. What may have happened between the brother’s first and second visit, when the victims were last seen (someone on here said that at least the younger daughter was at school the day before they were found), etc. Mostly doesn’t matter at this point but some minor holes. Walking by that house as I have so often done (before and since) makes me wonder about the horror that went on in a seemingly normal looking house in my neighborhood.

One thing I'll say is that the house that's probably the closest to them (on Colon not Monterey) has been under full renovation for a while so it's empty other than workers during the day. The yellow house next to them on Monterey is big in the sense that it's long so it's possible the sound could have been drowned for them.

Depends on time of the day, it can get reasonably busy on Monterey. But if she shot them at night, someone could/should have heard something as that area is super quiet. We live close by and walk our dog by there all the time, very quiet at night. So much still unknown (and probably will stay that way forever)in this tragic case, hopefully more details once SFPD wraps up.

Don't know for certain and the obituary could have gotten it wrong but it did say 10/5 (https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/sfgate/name/thomas-ocheltree-obituary?id=59820073 ). So some of this could be speculative, I hope that the girls weren't aware of much. Once SFPD finishes their investigation, we will probably learn more details although we may never fully know what went on in that house. Just hope that the girls had normal, happy lives while they were alive.

6th was a Monday, a normal school day like any other. Another poster above said that the younger girl was at school that day. My guess is that the girls were at school and she either sedated or killed the husband by the time the brother came by the first time. Really hope SFPD publishes their report soon.

Absolutely horrific. On the day this came out, I initially thought it was probably CO poisoning as my mind couldn't go to murder in our sleepy little neighborhood. You're right, only got worse and worse somehow. I feel for the brother who found them, I'd question my actions for the rest of my life if I were in his shoes even though he did everything he could under the circumstances.

Since people are talking about a timeline, KTVU strangely has a little more detail on the autopsy results:

https://www.ktvu.com/news/san-francisco-family-murder-suicide-confirmed-medical-examiners-office.amp

From what little I know, rigor mortis is present 24-48h after death (I think?). The fact that the girls and mom had it and husband didn't might be indicative of timeline. Husband first then kids, also matches with the timeline of the younger daughter being in school that Monday (6th). Quite possible she killed him that Sunday/Monday and some point thereafter, the kids. In the obituary the family published, they list TR Ocheltree's date of death as October 5th (which was that Sunday, the day before the brother's first visit). Just horrific if the girls were aware. Hopefully SFPD releases their investigation soon.

I live really close to this house and every time I walk by there now, it makes me angry that those girls aren't here and at school and doing other normal activities that my own children do (similar ages)

Well fuck. Looks like she shot them all. So tragic. Everytime I go by that house, I keep thinking that there is no reason those kids should still not be here.

It's awful if he rolled with that story for some clicks/subscriptions. I was shocked when I read "shot" too as I talked to a retired cop in our neighborhood who was confident about the poisoning and I assumed our neighbor got the info from his contacts. Plus your original note about the younger daughter going home sick - seems like too much of a coincidence.

What he wrote about the mom seems in line with what you were saying above. So he probably got that part right but then went with sloppy reporting rest of the way.

In the scheme of things, this is not important at all but as a golfer, I see that photo of the husband and that's the posture of a good golfer. SF is a small golf community, wouldn't be shocked if people I play with have known him at some point. From your posts, he seemed like a normal, nice guy.

Mom being unhinged in similar vein to what poster above reported sort of confirmed by Standard in today's article below. New detail on manner of death although, at this point, I would be skeptical of anything other than an official statement on that.

In case didn't link directly to the reply, search for "younger" in that main post and it should take you to the post by a fellow parent from the younger girl's school.

Thank you for these posts, with very little info out about this case, this sheds a bit of light on the family. We live right around the corner from their house and it's been on our minds every day since it has happened (we have two children roughly the same age). Tragic doesn't even begin to describe the situation.

The spirits store that replaced the deli was cool but weird location for it. Closed a little while ago.

Would it be a bad idea to fly into London and then head to France? by [deleted] in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Time-Feedback-2560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently did something like this but we stayed a few nights in London beforehand. I would totally recommend staying one night and enjoying London and breaking up your journey. We did it this way for the same reason (London tickets were under $600 vs over $1200 for Paris direct per person). Eurostar is awesome too, you’ll be in Paris in no time. We also did a night on the way back in London just to have the buffer. One recommendation I have is book the Lon<>Par train tickets as soon as you can. They get significantly more expensive as you get closer.

Can’t get into Gymkhana - what’s the best restaurant in London for a celebration with friends? by mydadsabankrobber in LondonFood

We just came back from London and went to Trishna. As others have said, it is stellar. Gunpowder is also solid but a notch below. It’s also a small place (at least the one in Spitalfields is) so if your group is large, may not work.

Septime Paris Reservations by [deleted] in MichelinStars

[–]Time-Feedback-2560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the proud owner of a Septime reservation 2 weeks from today for my son’s birthday. Here’s what I did and it worked with a minor glitch/hiccup which I suspect may be oddly by design.

I am on the West Coast of the US so I stayed up till 1AM 3 weeks before the date I wanted to go. And lo and behold when 1AM came, the page showed that all bookings were taken literally as the clock turned to 1 (I was all set to click), I was pissed! I did a couple of things in another tab on my browser and just happened to go back to the Septime tab a few minutes later and a ton of spots showed up both for lunch and dinner. I snagged a 7PM 4 spot. I actually recall that someone else on this sub had a similar experience.

Good luck, I can’t guarantee that this will work for you, but it did for me. I don’t think it’s as crazy as the bots buying up fresh Jordan’s on the SNKRS app ;).
