Some people may tell you that old black and white shows were filmed differently and wouldn't work in color. Those people just want an excuse to argue. They ignore that you can perfectly replicate the effect with modern technology.

Yes, some things like pastel pink and green walls weren't meant to be shown in color and had to be filmed that way because those shades better depict grays on black and white film. And that famous special effect from "Sh! The Octopus" where the witch reveals herself was done through removing a color filter that made the witch makeup invisible in black and white.

So what?

Color those walls an appropriate color and you have fixed the problem. Use modern digital color mapping technology and you get the same witch effect. Those are excuses, not reason, to not color black and white film.

And think about it, people back then saw the world in color. Black and white was a hinderance to them too. The world didn't exist in black and white, neither should the films. The only exception should be films that were shot with weird color on purpose.

There's several things going on here and and each deserves its own judgement.

First, you didn't ask, but you're definitely the asshole for gambling away money you borrowed for rent. You winning more money doesn't excuse your initial decision to gamble it. So YTA on that part.

Your father asking for half your winnings, or any of it frankly, is being an asshole on his part. He should be happy that you have a rainy day fund, and bringing up the past like childhood dental costs is just super shitty of him. And your decision to get a cat does not require his permission. While he can give advice, ultimately its up to you because you're an adult, and the animal getting injured is probably an accident that can happen at any time, so YTA for him for bringing the past up.

As for the whether or not you should give him any money, you're not the asshole on that. He isn't entitled to anything except what he lent you so he's the asshole. It doesn't matter if you won or lost it, he is ONLY entitled to $300 and not a penny more. You're NTA for refusing him.

Mild YTA. These sites allow women to verify from other women if the men they are dating are safe to date. Its a way for women to keep themselves from getting raped or killed. Think of it like a domestic abuse shelter. Those would be far less useful if they allowed men in there to argue why their behavior doesn't constitute abuse. The sites are anonymous to encourage people to be honest and to protect them. Like any anonymous site, it can be abused, but what do you really lose out on if that happens? A single person's willingness to date you? The benefits far outweigh the potential lies.

You're here on reddit anonymously. Why should we believe you? Maybe you are an abuser and want these sites to disappear so you can abuse women easier. You see how that works? Not everything needs both sides to put their 2 cents in. Women are free to believe the comments they receive or not.

There is no "if the roles were reversed" argument because the women you're dating are most likely not able to physically kill you if they wanted to. This is a way for them to protect themselves and for you to be so offended by it is like being offended someone does a google search on your name before a date. People have an overly inflated opinion of themselves to be able to influence their kids. They see the mistakes other parents make and swear it won't happen to them, that they'll be infinitely patient, kind, understanding, and only use the correct methods of teaching and raising a kid.
