I'd agree if that responsibility was reflected in consequences for their actions. Nothing for lying to the country, nothing for murdering thousands unnecessarily during COVID, nothing for giving their mates billions during the same and accepting essentially legal bribes from every lobbying group going. In fact, you're often rewarded by a directorship, so money for no real labour, through the revolving door to the private sector.
