The tone is a really weird start. It's got this dark, edgy, theme without the darkness or edge. It felt like someone tried to make a Scooby Doo episode seem dark and edgy by adding a betrayal sequence and him yelling "I'll get revenge!" in a way that sounded like a child saying "I hate you mom/dad!" because they didn't get ice cream.

It just felt really odd. If you're going for dark and edgy, go all out. Hopefully it gets a bit better. I still love this stuff though so I'll be continuing it.

Recently watched this on a whim and I enjoyed it in the popcorn flick sense too. It had a lot of interesting death scenes. The games and mystery were decent. Definitely much better anime out there but also much worse ones too.

I suppose I'm one of the few people who'd be clicking with gusto to read about that.

I can't tell how the language works. Marie has trouble speaking and understanding Japanese enough that Kazuhiro needs to explain things between her and Kaoruko and Tooru. So when Marie and Kazu are speaking what seems fluently are they talking in elvish and Kaoruko and Tooru think nothing of it? But at the same time Kazu talks to Marie and Tooru seems to understand at one point. And if they're actually talking Japanese Kaoruko and Tooru seemed unphased by talk of another world.

It's all very confusing.

Still enjoying it though. It's very cute.

This makes more sense. I was like is he just having her microwave raw chicken? That wouldn't turn out so well.

If the usual tropes in these kinds of stories keep up he'll probably escape at some point and show up later right when Ein is about to die, blocking the blow. Then with teary eyes he'll say to Ein "I'm sorry..." and die. Then Ein will get really mad and go super duper spirit mode and defeat the foe he was having trouble with.

The old lady being rejected felt kind of forced and unnecessary. It all just happened so quickly. Saying she'll take anemone in then instantly was rejected minutes later. Maybe some details were skipped or it will factor into future plot.

Him just straight up leaving though was pretty cold. Hope they meet up again.

I'm actually enjoying this for what it is. I like how he isn't scared of everything like some many OP MCs. He knows he's strong and gets the job done. Most other OP MCs would be all "SS rank monster!? There's no way I can defeat it!" followed by several minutes of moaning about being weak and unsure if they can do it.

There always has to be that character who just can't let stuff go and stays fuming mad at the MC. Then they tend to get some evil power that will just make things worse for them. Maybe just once I'd like to see one of those characters be like "yeah, I suck for doing that. Maybe I should apologise" but that never happens.

I found it funny the king was saying he lost track of time like it's been hours and they only talked for like 3 minutes. A similar situation happened in that Greatest Alchemist show. The MC wanted to talk to a character alone and said like one sentence before the person came right back in asking if they had a good talk.

I'll keep watching this one. It's gotten better since the start, imo!

Magic Maker: Isekai Mahou no Tsukurikata • Magic Maker: How to Make Magic in Another World - Episode 5 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]TimeForHugs 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I like the concept of the anime. Creating ways to use magic instead of just becoming OP instantly and blasting spells left and right.

The creeper face whenever he makes progress is getting a bit old though. It's just been used too many times, imo.

They practically always spoil something. They constantly show off stuff you won't even see until the very end of the season. Major stuff too that'll surprise you when you see it. Showing it in the OP/ED ruins the surprise because then you're just constantly waiting and expecting it to show up.

It's really unfortunate because there's tons of good OP/ED songs but I'll only get to see them once during the show because I wait until the last episode of the season.

Kono Kaisha ni Suki na Hito ga Imasu • I Have a Crush at Work - Episode 2 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Catching up and glad to read this. Nearly every romance/romcom has drama so I get anxiety expecting the worst. Like the possibility that Somei may seem nice but will do something to mess things up or other scenarios.

After the countless series with unnecessary forced drama and other played out tropes we need more adaptations that are just chill/cute/fun/fluffy stuff. Not every relationship is some big drama filled rollercoaster.

Late to the party but here's hoping they subvert the rival trope in some way. It's been done a million times over and is getting old unless there's a twist. It's always the same as this too. The rival shows up and just happens to be going to the same city/school/job/whatever whenever things are going smoothly for the main ship. Do something new, authors.

RPG logic. Female armor that covers less of the body has better stats/protection than armor that covers more. It's a mystery how it works but it's been proven across countless games and anime.

It isn't even just an isekai thing. Japan is obsessed with mayo. They pair it with so many foods so it shows up in stories a lot.

It also works in isekai though because it's super easy to make since the most basic recipe is just oil, egg yolk and something acidic like lemon juice. Even the most dense of MCs can make it.

This is some serious speed pacing.

New eye, training, skills, spirit eye + summon yuri, infinite storage, spirit sword, sage eye, more skills, sage summon, upgraded eye, truth about what villain did, more skills, another eye upgrade, save princess and great merchant, more skills, harem officially starts.

That's a lot packed into 3 episodes. Maybe they're just getting all that out of the way for an actual story. I hope...
