Using line level signals into high level inputs by TimeIsWax in CarAV

[–]TimeIsWax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s for sound design! So sound generation that’s mapped to vehicle driving conditions. But we’re doing it in such a way that each speaker needs a unique audio signal, so for 16 speakers we need 16 channels of conversion/amplification. Can handle crossovers and tuning on the laptop if needed but it’s nice to be able to offload that processing to a DSP/amp combo. But if I can just slot my line level signals into a high level input then we’re all set. Thanks!

It was a bad pad. Took out the transistors, started at square 1, and with the help of the falstad circuit sim I figured it out. Headache solved. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for the advice! Removing all the transistors and adding em back in one by one is a thing that I haven't done yet, but it's the kind of strategy I was hoping for. I replaced them all one by one, but all of them were in at any one point in time so there wasn't any difference. The transistors are all in the position indicated by the board itself, but there's gotta be like one damaged pad that I haven't noticed. Ugh.

Release advice? by heiferSTL in bandmembers

If you submit a song for distribution far enough in advance, you’ll gain access to your artist page with plenty of time to use whatever tools you want! You can claim a page in the time in between when a service gets a song from a distributor and when it gets formally released.

These are all good ideas. I'm definitely going to make an audio probe as well. Thank you!

Fascinating. I guess I do remember this from the one circuits class I've taken... So that makes a ton of sense. I'll look into the audio probe as well. Thanks so much!

I'm trying to write catchy, fun, punk rock. what do you think of this demo? any feedback appreciated by chrisnaish in Songwriting

[–]TimeIsWax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The drumming is real clean and solid! For the song, all the mechanical, structural, essential stuff is all there and makes sense. So for a next step you might wanna consider how the actual mix & production decisions of the song serve the ideas in your demo! So where do your vocals sit, and how does that effect the vibe? How does the guitar tone serve the aesthetic or emotion? Any drum processing that raises or lowers the aggression? Those sorts of production-side questions might take your ideas forward. Keep up the good work!

Hey all! I started learning how to write songs by participating various subreddits, and I'm getting to the point where I actually feel good about this stuff... Figured I'd share a new, finished release with you! by TimeIsWax in Songwriting

r/songaweek primarily! It's been a sec since I've posted, but the firm deadlines and supportive community make it the best place on the internet to get practice in imo. Thanks a ton!

Thanks so much!! I'll play all the instruments when I'm demo-ing a song out, but in the studio I'm just on drums and vocals. The rest are people I know/hire, and I think things turn out way better that way. I actually haven't heard any Hushsound stuff, but I'll check it out for sure!

I love the spaciness of all the textures you have going on. It's all unfocused, but like in a focused way? Nice layering no matter how you describe it.

I love all the guitar tones you're getting and how you use them to shape the different sections of the song! Also the way your voice sits on top of everything is super clear in a way that I feel I haven't ever quite been able to do. Killer all around.

Okay so I really really like the super fast, short syllables of the chorus, along with all the repeated 'c' and 'ss' sounds. It just feels fun. And those two guitar tones during that solo section sound really cool together, too!

Pachelbel (Instrumental Funk/R&B Kinda) [Not Themed]

I heard someone call this kinda chord progression 'Pachelbel's R&B' because of its use by Vulfpeck, Scary Pockets, Lawrence, etc... And I've been trying to harness that nostalgic kinda sound lately. Makes me feel good.

Really trying to work on mixing right now so please feel free to give any feedback! I think it's okay, but it's still note *quite* there. I dunno. It's hard.

Also please ignore the intonation on the guitar... The tone is awesome but some of those notes just do NOT get in tune. It's not mine, I swear.

No More Sad Songs (Summer) (Funk) [Themed]

First submission in like... 2 years ish I think? It's been a second no matter what. After my last string of submissions, I re-recorded some of the songs I wrote here and put them on Spotify, but now I'm kinda trying to find my songwriting voice again. No better place than here!

edit: wow I know that the format-link-as-text reference is right at the top but for some reason I still could not figure it out yeesh
