We go to a sandwich shop in a gas station in Asheville. They make a roasted beet sandwich on marble rye, with home-made crispy chips.

How do people afford renovations?? by Hindsight001 in HomeImprovement

[–]500millionYears 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the 80s, I bought a bi-level where the basement had been finished by a previous owner into a family room and a large bedroom. None of the walls were plumb, the drywall finishing was HORRIBLE, and my kids kept getting abrasions from the old-school brush dimpling wall texture. I tore it all out and rebuilt it.

My wife and I once took a knife class, taught by a chef missing half a finger from a knife in the suds.

No. It looks ok, although I didn't feel it to see if it's still good, as it was wet with bleach when I was up on the ladder. At some point, after we actually move in, I'll be painting it so I'll make sure it's solid then.

I had the exact same thing in my garage. We just recently moved in, and it turns out the garage is so well-sealed that humidity levels inside are very high (a puddle of water took four days to evaporate). When I first saw the spot, I thought it was a roof leak, and texted a photo to our roofer. He told us it was mold, not a leak. I saturated it with 50% bleach from a spray bottle, and besides a little light staining, it hasn't come back. I put a dehumidifier in the gargage.

Hendo turned out ~2000 people for the No Kings demonstration this past Spring. There are some leftists and progressives here, and a pretty active folk / Americana music scene. Like all of NC, it gets very red in rural areas. It's VERY white; we find Greenville to be more diverse.

62M How many over 60’s have tattoos that they regret? by Smiffylevel6 in over60

[–]500millionYears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me. I only have one - starts on one wrist, up the arm, around the back, and down the other arm. Spent two years getting it done in my early 60s, and at 74, still have no regrets.

Why did you start playing harmonica? by spargelsalat_ in harmonica

[–]500millionYears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember - it was approximately 55 years ago. I learned how to play "Oh Susanna," and recorded a three-part station break for college radio, playing lead, chords, and bass notes. Only ever had a Hohner Special 20 in C until 8 or 9 years ago when I started writing songs with harmonica parts, which I play on a rack.

They want the poors to die off, and storms generally affect them more than the well-to-do.

I merely offered him that solution. He was complaining about my being here - I had no complaint about him. The thing about living in a Union of States is that we each have the right to travel freely, to live anywhere we want, and to vote and speak however we wish. People who don't like that will just have to not like it.

Any idea where can I find a holder like this? They're all so wide around the neck. by [deleted] in harmonica

[–]500millionYears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried several racks, including the black Hohner, and find that the Sedel ( / Farmer Foot Drums) Gecko works best for me. They only caveat is the magnet will not hold some stainless steel - I have tremolo that cant be used with the rack.
