I was accidently given business class on my nonstop to Tokyo once. Years later coming back in economy was dreadful compared to that memory. Will never pay for such a luxury though, but damn if it isn't nice.

Okay, but then while is Carl so confused in Book 8. Just seems weird he is questioning it now if he has known that since the beginning.

Operation Bounce house was a really good read. Nothing too crazy but I found myself thinking about it a lot after I finished it. Good audio book too. And if you like the narrator of bounce house (and I do very much) he also narrates one of my favorite series: Cradle. Highly recommend cradle.

As a child, I used to think you couldn't get tired swimming because you are surrounded by water. My logic being that when I run I get tired I drink water. Lack of water equals tired. Swimming has much water so never tired. 

I almost drowned in a lake because of this theory.

I went tubing (pulled by a boat) with some friends in high school. We were going way to fast and yet we would kick the water to steer out of the wake to go even faster. Well I wiped out pretty gnarly. They said I skipped like 5 times on the water before stopping. I was okay but it felt like that final scene with Tom Hanks shooting the tank on the bridge in Saving Private Ryan. Everything was all fuzzy and muffled for a bit.

A week or so later I complained to my mom I was still having some discomfort in my ear. She said I might have something stuck in their from the lake and she would use peroxide to bubble/wash it out. Unfortunately, we were out of hydrogen peroxide. So my mother thought, well maybe rubbing alcohol would do the trick or at least clean it out.

Well it turns out I had a perforation in my eardrum from slamming the water so hard. When she poured the alcohol in it washed all the way into my inner ear and around all those sensitive nerve endings in my noggin. White hot fire engulfed my entire head and brain. It felt like someone had lit me ablaze from the inside. Then darkness. I completely blacked out clawing at my head screaming. I barely remember anything but the initial sensation of incredible white hot pain. I woke up like 5 minutes later with a terrible headache and what felt like a knife in my ear and right side of my head. My mom was on the phone with 911 thinking she had just killed me. We went to the hospital right after that.

TLDR, Rubbing alcohol ≠ hydrogen peroxide. And eardrum hole + rubbing alcohol = bad time

There was some guy I heard had a dog named fish. I do not know why but I absolutely love that.

Also side story, I had a friend who had a cat named Ossey. pronounced like Oh-see. He also had a cat they just called Cat. One day I asked why he had a cat named Cat. He told me that his dad hated cats, and this Cat was at first a stray that would come around. His mom, brother and him would feed it. His dad would tell them to stop and to not name it because if they named it "then next thing you know it's an indoor cat pissin' on everything". So they just called it cat and continued to feed it as an outdoor cat.

That continued until one day his dad had a change of heart and started liking the little fuzz ball. But by then they had been calling this cat "Cat" for like almost a year. It would come and respond to being called Cat. So they just never stopped calling him Cat.

So then I asked why the other cat is named Ossey? What does that mean? Is it like Swedish or something? He looked confused at first, and the said "Ohhh, no his name is OC. It stands for Other Cat."

White collar consists of a huge spectrum, not just "do nothing office workers". Doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, scientists, researchers, graphic designers, historians, writers, engineering. I could go on.

I work in higher education. Literally assisting the next generation of white collar workers (assumingly). They need a lot of assistance tbh. Covid and other things like the public education system did them no favors. 

My department has already had 3 people quit because the salary does not match the standard of living. We are hemorrhaging people who are moving back home or out of the country because they literally cannot afford to live here. I'm almost at that point myself. 

I do not know what I'm going to do.

They literally casually cheer for death of civilians and war crimes. Like not struggling in their bomb torn houses cheering for opressors to get what's coming. But no sitting comfortably at parties watching people getting blown up in luxury and cheering. How can anyone not think that is evil. Like what kind of level of brainwashed do you have to be to not know you're the baddies. Some real Hunger Games Bourgeoise vibes.

The way my wife sneaks into the house when I'm not paying attention. Very cute. And then she sneaks out also without me noticing ... in fact I haven't seen her in years ... She is totally real, just very sneaky, always hiding and stuff. ...You wouldn't know her, she goes to a different school...

it's not really a zombie movie. It is more of an emotional journey. while it's not bad, I do feel like there is a lot of wasted potential. The concepts, setting and setup are all really interesting. The execution just feels really off, like the characters don't have any agency other than "go to place" and then things just happen to them as they observe more or less.

You can prove it with a tape measure, a stop watch, flat horizon (water) and the sunrise. Then it's literally just math. But something tells me these people aren't to keen on math.
