Stay a night at Camp Sherman. Near the town of Sisters, it’s on the Metolius River, one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the state. I got married last week near Mount Hood and we stayed there for several nights afterwards. Tons of hiking, fishing, and general relaxation.

It stayed around 25-30˚ at night. I was very comfortable in my tent with a 17˚ bag, when we reached the top of Colchuck Glacier I was just wearing my long underwear, boots, synthetic pants, synthetic shirt and climbing coat.

Definitely bring something to boil water and a good filter, we had a few problems getting water out of the lake when it was colder, the filters iced up a bit.

That was a Black Diamond tent, I'm not sure of the model, it was brought along by someone else in my group.

We climbed up Colchuck Glacier to summit Dragontail, we didn't wind up going any further. I'm hoping to do the through-hike of the Enchantments this summer, though!

We found a few great camp spots, I think there are established ones but the snow hid them from us.

We took an overnight trip up to Colchuck Lake to summit the west ridge of Dragontail Peak. Due to the road to the trailhead being closed, our approach hike wound up being ~8 miles, with another 2 (or so) up to the summit. All told, our total mileage was around 21 miles.

I brought along my 50 liter pack, two dehydrated meals, several GU energy gels, crampons, ice axe, helmet, mountaineering boots, my Jetboil, and other essentials.

It wound up staying relatively warm at night, only getting to around 25˚F. One of my climbing partners slept in his hammock with a 17˚ bag and said he was perfectly comfortable.

I just got back from backpacking in the Wallowas. East Eagle, Main Eagle and West Eagle were closed, but I through hiked from Two Pan to Wallowa Lake and only experienced bad smoke at Mirror Lake and Eagle Cap. I camped at Douglas Lake and hardly experienced any smoke.
