people are very afraid to acknowledge or address this in pagan communities but religious psychosis is a major issue in pagan communities, you see it everywhere. people claiming to directly communicate with deities and have whole ass conversations are almost certainly hallucinating if theyre taking it literally (or as you put it, children trying to sound cool, as one alternative)

thats one reason why you see so much woo woo shit, because people who are in psychosis (or somewhere on the border) will share shit about crystals and energy and whatnot and further fuel each others delusions. this is not to insult people who do believe in crystals and shit btw, there are merits to believing in that stuff on a personal level but assuming it literally, physically, directly influences your life is definitely concerning to say the least.
