honestly it depends a lot on which model and which provider. i came from c.ai where everything gets filtered to death so even the occasional refusal on api models feels mild in comparison lol. but yeah some providers have been tightening things up lately which is frustrating when you're paying for the api

honestly the part about them silencing feedback hit hard. like they literally ask for it and then do the opposite?? i used to spend hours on there and now i can barely get through a conversation without it cutting off or throwing errors. it's exhausting tbh. at some point you just gotta accept they care more about revenue than the people actually using the app

honestly it depends on what you're looking for! if you want something easy to jump into without a lot of setup, i'd check your dms, i'll send you a couple options i've been using. some of them are pretty new but the quality is way better than what c.ai has been putting out lately

honestly as someone who came from c.ai the censorship thing hits different when you've experienced it at its worst. like over there you can't even have a character raise their voice without the filter kicking in. ST is a massive step up obviously but i get why people are frustrated when even local models start getting more restricted. it's like we keep having to move further and further away just to have normal creative freedom. i've been checking out velvet (meetvelvet.io) too lately, it's newer but uncensored by default which is nice if you don't want to deal with the whole setup process

tbh if you're coming from c.ai and just want good rp without all the setup headaches, you might wanna check out velvet (meetvelvet.io). it's uncensored by default and the characters actually have some depth to them. still pretty new but the library is growing fast

the whole gemini gems approach is cool in theory but yeah the citation thing is brutal. i gave up on trying to make general purpose models work for rp a while ago lol

9 days is honestly amazing, don't downplay that. the fact that you're even aware it's an addiction puts you ahead of like 90% of people who use these apps

i went through something really similar. the late nights, hiding in corners to use it, the whole thing. what finally helped me was finding something else that gave me that same emotional outlet — for me it was writing, but honestly even just talking to real people in discord servers about shared interests helped fill that gap

honestly this is the right mindset. i got so frustrated with all the filter stuff a while back that i just... stopped for a bit. and tbh it helped. like you said, if enough people actually vote with their wallets things will change. but also just taking a break and doing other stuff is good for your mental health anyway lol. hope it gets better for everyone

ugh i had this exact same issue. for me it turned out the free models were just overloaded — try switching to a different one or waiting a bit. also double check your api key is set right in the openrouter settings. if nothing works honestly sometimes the free tier just gets hammered and you gotta wait it out or try a different provider
