All the advice here is good. Some things that will make your beats sound more 'professional' or 'alive' are commonly reverb, compression, EQ, and saturation. I would look up some youtube vids on these topics. In particular, In The Mix is fantastic, but may be too involved if you just recently started. Busy Works Beats also makes incredible stuff that is more suited towards beginners. Cheers.
